Patent number: 4688084Abstract: Disclosed is a picture movement detection circuit for use for processing a color television signal, that is, a circuit for detecting temporal variations in chrominance signal level of a color televison picture. A signal corresponding to the magnitude of an absolute value, an amplitude, or the like, of a difference or addition signal between frames or field of a modulated chrominance signal of a color television signal is obtained, and a low frequency component is extracted out of the thus obtained signal so that the extracted low frequency component is used as movement information of the picture.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1986Date of Patent: August 18, 1987Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventor: Masahiko Achiha

Patent number: 4688081Abstract: In order to correct a time base error of a video signal reproduced from a video signal recording/reproducing apparatus such as a VTR or the like, when the reproduced video signal is sequentially written into or read out from a memory, a signal which is obtained by frequency multiplying an output of an oscillator for generating a signal of a constant frequency whose phase is momentarily synchronized by a burst signal extracted from the reproduced video signal is used as a write clock. The signal based on the output of the oscillator and the signal based on the output of a reference signal generator for generating a read clock for the memory are phase compared for the vertical blanking period of the reproduced video signal, and a phase difference signal is generated. The oscillating frequency of the oscillator is controlled in a negative feedback manner using this phase difference signal, thereby assuring the stable oscillating frequency which does not cause any frequency deviation.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1986Date of Patent: August 18, 1987Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Takashi Furuhata, Hitoaki Owashi

Patent number: 4688079Abstract: In a color cathode ray tube (CRT) having three electron beams each incident upon a respective primary color phosphor dot of red, green or blue, wherein the color dots are arranged in spaced, periodic groups of three dots, color purity which is determined by the accuracy with which each electron beam impacts its associated phosphor dots is measured by an adaptive process which measures six electron beam deflection vectors from which a beam landing calibration vector may be determined to correct for electron beam misalignment. After measuring beam landing error for each of the three electron beams, the center electron beam is deflected either right or left as determined by its previously measured beam landing error to the nearer of the two remaining dots. The electron beam associated with the remaining dot is then laterally displaced to the center dot.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1986Date of Patent: August 18, 1987Assignee: Zenith Electronics CorporationInventor: James R. Patent number: 4688094Abstract: The phase of a reproduction reference signal RS output from a decoder, which decodes the count value of the counter, is compared with that of an arriving horizontal synchronizing signal TH by a phase comparator. Based on this comparison result, a phase discriminating circuit discriminates whether the phase of the reproductionreference signal RS is advanced, delayed or in-phase with the arriving horizontal synchronizing signal TH. Based on this phase discrimination result, the dividing ratio setting circuit sets the dividing ratio of the counter such that the reproduction reference signal TH is pulled in with the arriving horizontal synchronizing signal TH.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1985Date of Patent: August 18, 1987Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Toshiyuki Tanabe, Minoru Noguchi

Patent number: 4686562Abstract: A gamma correction circuit superimposes gamma reference pulse on the input video signal and, after further superimposing this on a pedestal signal, gamma corrects the signal to the maximum value using a fixed gamma correction circuit and sends this corrected signal together with an uncorrected signal to a variable gamma correction circuit. The variable gamma correction circuit controls the input mixing ratio in response to the correction value control voltage to thereby determine the gamma correction value. After the gamma-corrected video signal has been clamped by the clamp circuit, it is supplied to the sample-and-hold circuit which detects the gamma reference pulse level superimposed on the input video signal, and holds it. This held voltage is added by the gamma correction value control circuit to the gamma correction control input and is sent to the variable gamma correction circuit as the correction value control voltage.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1986Date of Patent: August 11, 1987Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventor: Junichi Yamanaka

Patent number: 4679086Abstract: Noise smoothing of imaging data is performed using frame integration, by averaging pixels over time instead of space, without resulting in a smear of moving objects by: sensing image motion; and enabling frame integration on only stationary scene pixels. Image motion is sensed by: producing a differencing signal which indicates the difference between new image data and frame integrated data; and comparing the differencing signal with a threshold signal. When the threshold signal has a value which approximately equals expected image noise, then the image data processed by a particular pixel may be deemed non-moving when the difference signal is less than the threshold signal, and the image data may be deemed to depict moving objects otherwise. Finally, image data is conducted unprocessed to the display for moving scene pixels, while frame integrated image data is conducted to the display for stationary scene pixels.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1986Date of Patent: July 7, 1987Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Air ForceInventor: Roger A.
