  • Patent number: 6740269
Abstract: A method of treating a disc plate. has the following operations of: molding a mold disc plate through an injection molding; and spinning the mold disc plate at a high spin speed. The spinning operation has at least one of the following two sub-operations of: reducing a warp of the mold disc plate with a centrifugal force caused during the spinning operation, and reducing a temperature of the mold disc plate during the spinning operation. Moreover, an apparatus of treating a disc plate has: a conveyer for conveying a mold disc plate obtained through an injection molding; a disc bench for receiving the mold disc plate conveyed with the conveyer; and a spin driver for spinning the disc bench when a temperature of the mold disc plate is higher than 90° C., to thereby spin the mold disc plate.

  • Patent number: 6716383
Abstract: A washing tub is formed with a reinforcing body made from a non-metallic material, such as plastic or fiberglass, and a thin interior liner portion constituted by a metallic material, preferably stainless steel. The metallic material is preferably sprayed onto a tub shaping member and then the reinforcing body is attached to the metallic material. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the reinforcing body is formed from plastic, such as polypropylene, which is injected about a mold core following the spray coating of the metallic material on the core. In another embodiment, the reinforcing material is constituted by fiberglass which is layered about a shaping member having the metallic liner portion deposited thereon. In any case, an aesthetically appealing and extremely cost effective, high quality washing tub is produced.

  • Patent number: 6713008
Abstract: The present invention is a method for making a composite structure that includes three resin impregnated structural cloth layers including a bottom sheet, a top sheet and a core sheet. The core sheet is a continuously curved shape with flat valleys that are bonded to the bottom sheet and flat peaks that are bonded to the top sheet. In the invention process, a dry core sheet is sandwiched between two wax core molds that form the core sheet. The core molds and the core sheet are sandwiched between dry top and bottom sheets by rigid molds as the flat peaks and valleys of the core sheet make contact with the top and bottom sheets through openings in the core molds. Liquid resin is transferred into the dry sheets and then cured. The lay up is disassembled and the wax core molds are melted and drained from the finished, rigid structure.

  • Patent number: 6705127
Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods of producing soot used in the manufacture of optical waveguides. Both non-aqueous liquid reactants and aqueous solutions containing one or more salts are delivered through an atomizing burner assembly to form a homogenous soot stream containing the oxides of the selected elements contained within the non-aqueous liquid reactant and the aqueous solution. The resulting multi-component soot is collected by conventional methods to form preforms used in the manufacture of optical waveguide fibers. Preforms formed by the methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6706236
Abstract: To make holes in ceramic green sheets that are needed to create feedthroughs, it is proposed to make the holes by using a gas that is under a higher pressure than atmospheric pressure and that is expelled in a pulsed manner from a pressure vessel and thereby acts on a principal surface of a ceramic green sheet, at at least one location at which a hole is to be made, in such a way that material is shot out of the ceramic green sheet at that location. This eliminates the disadvantages associated with the use of punches to punch holes.

  • Patent number: 6705122
Abstract: The temperature of cooling air to a manifold for distribution to molds of a glass manufacturing machine is controlled by passing untreated air through an indirect heat exchanger in indirect heat exchange relationship with water flowing through a coil in the indirect heat exchanger before treated air from the indirect heat exchanger is passed through a blower for distribution to the manifold. Water for treating the air flowing through the indirect heat exchanger is pumped through the coil from a water cooling tower that is used in a glass manufacturing plant, either at a first temperature from a first outlet of the water cooling tower or at a second temperature from a second outlet of a water cooling tower, or a mixture of water from the first outlet and the second outlet. In a first embodiment, water from the first outlet and water from the second outlet pass through a temperature controlled three-way mixing valve before delivery to a pump for delivery to the indirect heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 6706231
Abstract: Method for compression molding plastic closures having a peripheral skirt with an internal thread includes a first mold assembly having a male mold core and a second mold assembly having a female mold cavity. At least one of the first and second mold assemblies is moved relative to the other to bring the male mold core into the female mold cavity for compression molding a closure, and then is moved to open the cavity such that the closure is retained on the male mold core. The male mold core is rotated relative to the first mold assembly to unthread the core from within the closure, and thereby strip the closure from the core, without stretching the closure skirt over the core or wiping the internal thread over the external surface of the mold core.
