Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine-readable media for adaptive content splicing with respect to content corresponding to a televised event are disclosed. First content may be received and may be determined to correspond to an event that is televised. One or more indicators of one or more state changes with respect to the event may be detected. A content composite may be created. An adaptable content item received from a first system may be processed. A content object re may be processed. The adaptable content item may be modified based at least in part on the content object to form the content composite. The creating the content composite may be a function of rules mapped to a current geolocation. Second content corresponding to the programming content may be received. The second content may be output for display in conjunction with the content composite.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for providing recommendations to a user. A short-media viewing profile may be maintained for the user. The short-media viewing profile may be based on user's behavior while watching short-length media content. A long-media viewing profile may be maintained for the user. The long-media viewing profile may be based on user's behavior while watching long-length media content. In response to determining that the user is currently engaged in viewing short-length media content, a recommendation is provided to the user based on the short-media viewing profile. In response to determining that the user is currently engaged in viewing long-length media content, a recommendation is provided to the user based on the long-media viewing profile.

Abstract: A method and apparatus may be provided for building a linear media source extension (MSE) buffer from two or more nonlinear media sources using MPD chaining. The method may include parsing at least one obtained media presentation segment (MPD), and obtain a live MPD based on the at least one URL, the live MPD comprising one or more live media segments. The method may include appending the one or more ad media segments to a first MSE source buffer based on a first timing model and chaining the one or more live media segments to the one or more ad media segments by appending the one or more live media segments to the first buffer based on a second timing model. The one or more ad media segments may be dispatched and the one or more live media segments based on the first timing model and the second timing model.

Abstract: In a computer-implemented method, a selected online advertisement is automatically directed to, or online activity is automatically tracked and recorded from, an online user interface device which corresponds, at the time the advertisement is directed or the activity is tracked, to a first online access identifier. The advertisement is directed or the activity is tracked based on information from a user profile that references or includes a first set-top box identifier. That information is derived at least in part from automatically collected data related to user behavior with respect to at least one television advertisement delivered to a set-top box, which set-top box corresponds, at the time of that user behavior, to the first set-top box identifier. The first online access identifier is associated with the first set-top box identifier, by being referenced or included in the user profile, by being associated in a database, or otherwise.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method includes while a first content-presentation device is performing a content-replacement operation in which the first content-presentation device outputs a replacement advertisement segment in place of an advertisement segment, determining, by a computing system, that the advertisement segment is not an expected modifiable advertisement segment. The method also includes in response to determining that the advertisement segment is not the expected modifiable advertisement segment, determining, by the computing system, that the advertisement segment is ineligible for replacement.

Abstract: Aspects of the present application correspond to generation of supplemental content based on processing information associated with content to be rendered. More specifically, aspects of the present application correspond to the generation of audio track information, such as music tracks, that are created for playback during the presentation of video content. Illustratively, one or more frames of the video content are processed by machine learned algorithm(s) to generate processing results indicative of one or more attributes characterizing individual frames of video content. A selection system can then identify potential music track or other audio data in view of the processing results.

Abstract: A media system replaces content in a first sequence of media content. The media system presents the first sequence of media content to an end-user and generates a fingerprint of the sequence of media content. The fingerprint is for comparison with a plurality of reference fingerprints so as to identify the first sequence of media content and determine a reference position within the first sequence of media content. The media system sends a request for a replacement sequence of content to a content replacement system, and receives replacement media content selected based on the identified first sequence of media content. The media system presents the replacement media content to the end-user instead of the first sequence of media content. Presenting the replacement media content begins at a position in the first sequence of media content that is determined based on the reference position.

Abstract: Systems and methods for inserting auxiliary content slots within portions of media assets determined to be of interest to users. Segments of a media asset being viewed by a user are identified as being of particular interest to the user, with reference to a stored set of user preferences. User preferences may be consulted to determine which of these segments may be of likely interest to the viewer. Slots for auxiliary content, such as an advertisement, are then added to those segments deemed to be of likely interest. Auxiliary content such as ads may accordingly be displayed to a user at points within media assets at which the user is more likely to be paying attention, increasing the likelihood that auxiliary content will be viewed and perhaps interacted with by the user.

Abstract: A device, system, and method perform an automatic change over for transport streams. The method is performed at an output server. The method includes selecting a first transport stream. The method includes generating a first portion of an output based on the first transport stream. The method includes selecting a second transport stream. The method includes determining a frametime to synchronize first packets of the first transport stream to second packets of the second transport stream. The frametime is based on a start time of a content item included in the first transport stream and the second transport stream and a completed progression of the content item using the first transport stream. The method includes determining a location in the second transport stream based on the frametime. The method includes generating a second portion of the output based on the second transport stream starting at the location.

Abstract: Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol in robustly delivering the next generation broadcast television services. Personalized store front ads are pushed to mobile devices passing stores associated with the ads using layered division multiplexing in an ATSC 3.0 signal.

Abstract: A multimedia audio/video system includes a multimedia audio/video transmitting end and a multimedia audio/video receiving end. The multimedia audio/video transmitting end includes a multimedia data generator and a first data converter. The multimedia data generator is used to generate a multimedia data conforming to a first transmission protocol. The first data converter is used to convert the multimedia data conforming to the first transmission protocol into a multimedia data conforming to a second transmission protocol. The multimedia audio/video receiving end includes a second data converter which is used to convert the multimedia data conforming to the second transmission protocol into the multimedia data conforming to the first transmission protocol. The multimedia data conforming to the first transmission protocol is transmitted via multiple cables, while the multimedia data conforming to the second transmission protocol is transmitted via a single cable.

Abstract: The disclosure provides for use of watermarking as a basis control abandonment of dynamic content modification. Upon detecting of the occurrence of a trigger event for causing a content presentation device to abandon a dynamic content modification with respect to a media stream being delivered to the content presentation device, an entity encodes into the media stream an abandonment-watermark interpretable by the content presentation device to cause the content presentation device to abandon the dynamic content modification. The content presentation device then detects the abandonment-watermark in the media stream being received by the content presentation device and in response to the abandonment-watermark, abandons the dynamic content modification.

The circuitry is configured to perform, based on the application and the broadcast content segment information of a segment of the broadcast content to be replaced being obtained, replacement or appendance of the broadcast content in the broadcast reception data stored in the buffer with network content in application reception data received via a network.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for server-side manipulation of underlying video content in order to dynamically place overlay content or other supplemental content within a video stream in a manner whereby a viewing user sees the advertisement content over or integrated within a portion of the base video content. Segments of the original video file may be modified by a server to display overlay content over a portion of the original content or integrated within the portion of the original content, and revised manifest data may be generated by the server and sent to a client device for playback. The systems and methods may include introducing a delay in the live stream relative to its original source in order to provide time for server-side creation of replacement video portions that include overlay content or other supplemental content.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for mass distribution of content. A system for mass distribution of content includes a media server configured to receive content comprising a real-time broadcast of a live performance. The media server generates a content signal representative of the received content and a multicast network coupled to the media server encrypts the content signal and multiplies it to generate a multicast signal. The multicast signal, transmitted by a multicast network via the data communication network, comprises a plurality of encrypted unicast signals. One or more receivers are coupled to the multicast network via the data communication network and each receives one of the encrypted unicast signals of the multicast signal via the data communication network. Each of the one or more receivers decrypts the received unicast signal and broadcasts the decrypted unicast signal to one or more entertainment pods for consumption.

Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamically skipping a presentation of a portion of frames to catch up to live based on a user selection is disclosed herein. For example, a streaming application generates a content item for live streaming where the content item comprises a plurality of frames. In response to determining that playing of the content item lags behind the live streaming of the content item, the streaming application presents a selectable option for a user input where the option comprises (a) catch up to live in a particular time period. In response to receiving the user input via a corresponding option to (a) catch up to live in the particular time period, the streaming application skips a presentation of a portion of the plurality of frames, such that the playing of the content item catches up to live in the particular time period.

Abstract: An attribution system aggregates and merges online data and offline chronologically. The attribution system examines merged data for unique visitor (UV) sessions initiated at an online medium (e.g., a website) within an attribution window for a spot that aired on an offline medium (e.g., a television network) and, for each conversion event that occurred in a UV session, assigns a session timestamp to it so that the conversion event is correlated to the spot. The attribution system then determines an overall conversion rate of UVs to the online medium in the attribution window and the attribution by the spot that aired on the offline medium to the overall conversion rate of UVs to the online medium in the attribution window. Results of the offline attribution to the online conversions can be visualized and presented on a client device communicatively connected to the attribution system.

Abstract: One or more computing devices may be configured to identify information corresponding to a program change request associated with a multi-program data transmission. The information may comprise at least a link to a desired program within the multi-program data transmission. The one or more computing devices may communicate the link to the desired program to a client device over a specified time period. After the time period, the one or more computing devices may communicate the desired program to the client device using a single program data transmission. The single program data transmission may be derived from the multi-program data transmission.

Abstract: A system and methods are disclosed for creating and using an audience-responsiveness analytics index for television advertising, in particular, advertising for connected television viewing. The audience-responsiveness analytics index may be configured to provide data obtained or acquired by measuring audience responsiveness to video advertising placed in streaming content viewed over connected televisions. The audience-responsiveness analytics index may be a graph used to optimize advertising with households assigned scores for multiple categories of advertising.
