The functional groups in the compound are selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl group, an alkyl or aryl magnesium halide, a thiol group, a primary amine group, a secondary amine group, a primary phosphorous group, a secondary phosphorous group, etc. The metallocene catalysts according to the present invention have a structure in which an ancillary ligand of a metallocene compound is bonded to the functional groups of a compound having at least two functional groups. A structure of the metallocene catalysts can be varied with the type of a metallocene compound and a compound having at least two functional groups, and the molar ratio of each reactant.

    Abstract: An aqueous talc slurry that exhibits minimal foaming comprises talc pigment, a carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) wetting agent having a molecular weight of between 50,000 and 150,000, an ionic polyacrylate dispersing agent, and has a solids content of between 55% and 65%. The slurry has an entrained air content of less than about 1% as measured after at least several minutes of low shear agitation. A method of preparing a talc slurry that exhibits minimal foaming comprises the sequential steps of mixing CMC wetting agent with water, adding an ionic polyacrylate dispersing agent, and dispersing talc to result in a solids content of between 55% and 65%. The resultant slurry has an entrained air content of less than 1% as measured after at least 30 minutes of low shear mixing. An aqueous talc slurry containing a small amount of xanthan gum stabilizing agent is stable for prolonged periods.

Alternatively, at least one peak is present at a diffraction angle that preferably corresponds to a d value of at least 1 nm in an x-ray diffraction pattern. Method of making such organic/inorganic complex materials are also disclosed.

This mixture is pressed in a continuously operating apparatus through one or more apertures each having a size of 0.2-5.0 mm2, the apparatus consisting of at least one conveying device and a shaping section comprising the apertures, and being constructed, and operated with a throughput, such that the pressure in its shaping section does not exceed 10 bar. The granulated product is then dried at a temperature of −50 to 200° C. at atmospheric pressure or under reduced pressure. The invention also relates to pigment granules prepared by the process of the invention, with a particle size of 0.5 to 4 mm, wherein the pigment present essentially has a particle size from 0.01 to 10&mgr;m.

    Abstract: Optical coating compositions containing thin film particulates or pigments that are capable of imparting to the coating preselected optical characteristics or properties, such as selective reflectance, transmission and absorptance of light energy, are comprised of film forming binder and improved high volume pigment particles dispersed in the binder. Each pigment particle is a high volume flake comprised of an inorganic or polymer core having two sides and a thin film optical structure deposited onto each of the two sides of the core. The core occupies a large volume of the coating composition and dramatically reduces the number of flakes and the amount of thin film structures required to produce a coating of given thickness and desired optical properties. The core may also be fabricated to have diffuse and irregular side surfaces in order to render the applied coating visually diffuse and nonspecular. Methods of making the pigment particles are disclosed.
