Abstract: Disclosed herein is a canal instrument for eliminating interference and achieving the widening of the opening and the contemporaneous flared reaming of the first two-thirds of the dental radicular canals, the instrument being designed in such a way that over the full length it progressively reduces in thickness towards the tip, while the cutting part that extends from the terminal part or the instrument coupling section to an endodontic drill only extends for a part of the working length.

Abstract: An articulated-limb toy animal has a pair of front limbs and a pair of hind limbs articulated to the trunk of the toy animal. In each limb pair, the limbs are joined to each other by a respective horizontal axis cylindrical stem and the trunk is provided at the front and hind portions thereof with seats for a pivotal engagement with the stems.

Abstract: An electric circuit, including a power source and a resistive heating element, is provided within the body of a doll. The circuit is completed by the insertion of a thermometer into an aperture provided in the body of the doll, and the heat generated by the resistive heating element is registered on the thermometer, thereby creating the effect of "taking the doll's temperature.

Abstract: A novelty toy used to facilitate thumb twiddling comprises a pair of closely spaced, parallel, tubular holes each adapted to receive the first digit of a thumb, the walls of the holes being smooth and slippery, and of diameter slightly larger than the thumbs. The thumbs are inserted into the holes and are rotated orbitally about an imaginary axis between the two holes.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a graphic arts toy wherein a flexible string may be selectively attached at a wide variety of points around an exposed display surface to portray any desired pictorial representation and wherein the string may be quickly and easily stripped from the display surface after use and stored for futher use.

Abstract: Safety-release tension-applying mechanism for use between an orthodontic facebow and a headstrap and the like therefor. The mechanism includes a pair of releaseably interengageable portions which, while engaged, are smoothly elastically shiftable relative to one another throughout a preselected tension range. These portions automatically release on the tension transmitted through the mechanism exceeding a predetermined maximum tension level.

Abstract: Dental suction apparatus is a modular construction, made up of a plurality of modules joined fluid-tight side-by side. A main suction duct extends through all of the modules. At least two of the modules have connection for suction hoses each having a suction nozzle, holders being provided on the modules for holding the suction nozzles when not in use. At least one module has a filter chamber connected between a suction tube and the main suction duct. A removable filter unit in the filter chamber has a basket-shaped filter on a stem by means of which the filter can be removed through on opening closed by a hinged cover. A cap on the stem provides a seal for the filter chamber. Flow of air from the suction tube of each suction tube module to the main suction duct is controlled by a valve in the form of a bellows provided with a telescopic guide and with a control valve for controlling the expansion and contraction of the bellows by differential pressure.

Abstract: A toy including a powered running toy member and a track along which the toy member runs, the toy member being made to run by rotation of the driving wheels of the toy member. The running toy member is provided with a switching arm which is attached to the lower side thereof and is adapted to trigger an operation for changing the running direction, and a mechanism for effecting the change of running direction when actuated by the swinging arm. On at least one end of the track, a mechanism is provided for causing swinging movement of the switching arm to automatically change the running direction of the toy member as the toy member reaches that end of the track. The running toy member has the form of an animal such as, for example, a bird, and incorporates various mechanisms for effecting various actions simulating those of the actual animal, e.g., turning of the head, opening of a beak, etc., by making use of power provided by the driving wheels.

Abstract: An amusement device for young children having a six-sided open frame with four sides thereof providing handles to orient three closed and separate chambers located between the other two sides, each chamber containing a fluid or material of different viscosity than that contained in any other chamber and having a pair of enlarged volume ends connected by restricted passageways. The chambers are transparent such that observation of the different flow rates can take place.

Abstract: A simplified combination animal call has a casing divided into identical upper and lower half sections held together by a securing elastic band. Symmetrical channels of different widths spaced longitudinally along half sections provide airways through the casing whose openings act interchangeably as mouthpiece openings along one side of the casing and sound-emitting bells on the opposite side. Air blown through any such airway vibrates a second elastic band which spans each airway to produce an animal-like sound. Multiple airways of different widths make available several different pitch ranges at once. Changing either the size or tension of the vibratory elastic band changes the pitch that is available at each slot. Finally, the pitch produced may be dynamically varied either by changing the tension on the vibratory elastic or by compressing the mouthpiece side of the casing while the device is in use.

Abstract: A hoop toy including an elongated rod having a pair of spaced abutment members adjacent one end and adapted to be held at the opposite end for twirling gyratory movement, and further including a large hoop and a coupling ring member adapted to encircle a portion of the hoop and the portion of the rod between the abutment members to permit the hoop to twirl about the rod only between the abutment members.The hoop toy is further characterized by various means for holding the opposite end of the rod for twirling movement, such as a head-supported socket member, a hip-supported socket member, and a hand-held socket member.

Abstract: An arch block building system to simplify the building of arches in architectural construction and in toy block sets is provided by this invention. The arch block building system, which consists of only four basic shapes, simplifies the builder's construction of arches for use in bridges, entranceways and other structures, and provides an educational tool to teach the principles of arch construction through its use in toy block sets.

Abstract: A toy vehicle is provided for use in a toy vehicle game including an endless track defining at least two parallely extending vehicle lanes in which two or more toy vehicles are operated. The toy vehicles each include a reversible electric rotary drive motor and a transmission operatively engaged between the motor and the drive wheels for driving the vehicles in a forward direction regardless of the direction of rotation of the drive motor. The drive transmission has an idler drive member mounted on a rotatable frame in driving engagement with the output of the motor and is moved into driving engagement with one or the other of the drive wheels depending upon the direction of rotation of the drive motor.

Abstract: A mechanical construction toy for children of preschool age which can be assembled to form a robot. The construction toy has several parts which may be arranged in order to construct or build the robot. Three of the parts form a plane of carriage upon and about which the weight and moment of the toy rest and travel. The various parts are engageable with one another to provide several slip-type joints which permit the toy to take a variety of shapes or poses. The toy, when constructed, takes the shape of a robot and is an object of amusement as well as an education to the child.

Abstract: A hoop of hollow construction of a shape to fit substantially snugly about a user's waist which has a ball internally freely mounted in the hoop so that the ball may rotate through the interior passageway of the hoop in response to motion of the wearer's body. The hollow cavity of the hollow hoop can have ridge rings running radially across the body of the hoop, which rings can also be formed on the exterior of the hoop.

Abstract: A toy television set with a musical box whereby words, television scenes on a plurality of leaves can be seen in succession through a transparent screen with the accompaniment of music played by the musical box. The device has a case modeled after the cabinet of a real TV set, a transparent screen on the front side of the case, a horizontal shaft disposed in the case in alignment with a line extending across the center of the screen, a musical box, a prime mover for driving the shaft and musical box, a pair of discs disposed at both ends of the horizontal shaft, each of the discs having a plurality of apertures along the periphery thereof, and a plurality of leaves on which pictures, words, etc., are drawn, each of said leaves having extending from both sides of the lower end of each leaf insert elements inserted into corresponding apertures in said discs.

Abstract: An article of manufacture for use in dental hygiene is disclosed. The device provides a leader, to which there is attached a thicker "mop" which can be comprised of a plurality of individual string members. The string members can be abrasive to enhance cleaning action. The several string members which form the "mop" would preferably have some absorbent quality in order to retain a desired therapeutic aid such as fluoride or the like. The strings could be alternatively fluoride impregnated. In use, the leader is first passed between gaps in the teeth until the "mop" portion contacts the gap. Sliding action of the abrasive mop between the teeth removes undesirable plaque and massages the gums. In the method of the present invention, individual thread members are added to the leader so that as many strings are placed between the teeth as possible without causing discomfort and the space between the teeth can be filled.

Abstract: A toy assembly capable of locomotion on a solid surface and having reconfigurable component parts is disclosed. A fuselage of an airplane or rocket includes a front section configured to simulate a mobile cockpit which can be launched from the remainder of the fuselage by a spring loaded latching mechanism. Two interchangeable tail sections are provided for coupling to the fuselage. A first tail section includes a power source and a control switch to actuate an electric motor located in a center section of the fuselage. An electrical cable connects a second tail section to the first tail section whereby the toy is remotely controllable from the control switch. A multi-piece wing section is attached to either side of the fuselage. Each wing section includes a side member which, when detached from the wing provides an operable toy dart gun. The component parts of the wing sections are reconfigurable to provide other toy assemblies.
