  • Patent number: 6808133
Abstract: A fuel injector for directly injecting fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine includes a solenoid coil, an armature that can be acted upon by the solenoid coil in a stroke direction in opposition to a first resetting spring, and a valve needle connected to a valve-closure member. The valve needle has a first limit stop for the movable armature, the armature additionally being acted upon by a second resetting spring. A stationary second limit stop is provided for the armature. The second resetting spring acts upon the armature contrary to the stroke direction and, in the resting position, when the solenoid coil is not excited, the second resetting spring holds the armature in position at the second limit stop such that the armature is at a preestablished distance from the first limit stop configured on the valve needle.

  • Patent number: 6805307
Abstract: The invention includes a spraying device (10) for producing a precise degree of liquid droplet generation on a repeatable basis by combining a specified rate of regulated flow of liquid material with a regulated flow of high-pressure air. The spraying device (10) includes an electric or engine driven direct drive compressor (12.) Coupled to the compressor (12) is an air storage tank (14) providing air pulsation reduction to the regulated air and serves as a reservoir for excess airflow generation. A Venturi nozzle (18) is connected to the compressor (12.) A liquid supply tube (24) uses a fixed or variable restriction to regulate the liquid flow to the nozzle (18.) The vacuum in the liquid supply line (24) draws this liquid flow and mixes the liquid externally with the regulated air in exacting proportions forming specified liquid droplet sizes. The device (10) uses air and liquid regulation combined with a Venturi nozzle (18) and is able to generate extremely consistent liquid droplet sizes.

  • Patent number: 6802458
Abstract: A nozzle gate valve is provided in an irrigation sprinkler for quick and easy shut-off of water flow to a sprinkler spray nozzle. The gate valve is mounted within a sprinkler spray head at an upstream side of the nozzle for displacement between open and closed positions respectively permitting and preventing waterflow to the nozzle. In the preferred form, the gate valve has a generally conical shape and defines an elbow-shaped flow path movable between the open position aligned with the nozzle for normal water supply thereto, and the closed position misaligned with the spray nozzle to prevent water flow thereto. In the closed position, the spray nozzle can be removed and/or replaced, or other sprinkler adjustments can be performed, without requiring a main system water supply to be turned off.

  • Patent number: 6793161
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to obtain a consistently stable needle lift damping effect in an injector 8b for fuel injection. In an injector 8b that relieves fuel pressure inside a pressure control chamber 37 and lifts a needle valve 36, there are provided a damper member 62 that is slidably mounted to the needle valve 36, a damping chamber 63 formed between the damper member 62 and the needle valve 36, a leak passage 64 for extracting and leaking out the fuel in the damping chamber 63, and a stopper member 41 to restrict the lift position of the damper member 62. Damping of the lift of the needle valve 36 is carried out by extracting and leaking out the fuel in the damping chamber 63 through the leak passage 64. The needle valve 36 functions as a guide for the damper member 62, and prevents vibration of the damper member 62, allowing a consistently stable damping effect to be obtained.

  • Patent number: 6786430
Abstract: This invention provides a liquid atomizing nozzle which utilizes a swirling flow of gas to form a liquid film in as uniform thickness as possible in a circumferential direction, and in which blockages are difficult to develop, and which can facilitate atomization by further reducing the size of the droplets which disperse from the front end. A liquid injected into an annular space 7 through liquid passages 14 formed in an outer cylinder 2 in an incline to the radial direction, flows within the annular space 7 having a component swirling in the circumferential direction. Air which flows into the annular space 7 through air passages 10 formed inclined in the same direction as the liquid passages in the outer cylinder 2, develops a swirling flow Ac within the annular space 7, acts upon the injected liquid to spread it onto an inner wall 5 of the outer cylinder 2, and further improving the uniformity of the thickness of the liquid film in a circumferential direction.
