Abstract: A system for controlling a remote electronics system includes a configuration device, a venue device, a user device, and a storage device storing configuration information relating to each piece of equipment included in a list of equipment. The configuration device performs a series of steps, including: accepting from the venue device, at least one piece of venue equipment from the list of equipment; accessing the configuration information relating to the at least one piece of venue equipment; accepting from the user device at least one generalized instruction (agnostic as to which equipment was selected) for a piece of equipment; creating at least one instruction specific from the at least one generalized instruction based on the configuration information; and transmitting the at least one specific instruction to the venue device. The venue device then uses same to control the at least one piece of venue equipment.

  • Patent number: 10651652
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer media for managing frequency response in a power grid are provided herein. Individual grid-connected electrical devices can be turned on and/or off by corresponding frequency-responsive load controllers when frequency deviations beyond a threshold are detected. Each controller selects, for the corresponding electrical device, a frequency threshold from available frequencies in a frequency range. If the selected frequency falls within a deadband frequency range, then the controller sets the frequency threshold to a frequency outside of the deadband (e.g., to a closest available frequency outside of the deadband). On a system-wide level, this approximates a uniform distribution of frequency thresholds over the entire frequency range, including the deadband, and achieves the proper power-to-frequency relationship for grid stability.

  • Patent number: 10642237
Abstract: The present application relates generally to Volt-VAR optimization for power distribution systems having advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). Distributed energy resources (DER) such as photovoltaic arrays are becoming prevalent in distribution systems. These DER systems inject power into the distribution system which can cause unfavorable changes, such as a rise in voltage across the feeder lines of the distribution system. Existing control proposals suffer from a number of shortcomings, drawbacks and disadvantages. In some instances, traditional controllers for distribution systems with DER systems may require information related to the arrangement of the distribution system which is unknown and cannot be provided by the advanced metering infrastructure. There remains a significant need for the apparatuses, methods, systems and techniques disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 10541555
Abstract: A system and method for controlling electrical power in a multi-phase electrical service to a load is provided. The system includes an electric meter that determines when an electrical characteristic of a phase of a multi-phase electrical service is below a threshold. A first switch and second switch are coupled to the first phase and second phase respectively and disconnect the phases from a power source. A bridging switch is coupled between the phases, the bridging switch being arranged between the load and the first and second switches. A controller is coupled between the electric meter, the first switch, the second switch, and the bridging switch. The controller causes the first switch to open in response to the electrical characteristic of the first phase being below the threshold and causing the bridging switch to close when the first switch is opened.

  • Patent number: 10535998
Abstract: One example includes a forecast engine that generates forecast data that characterizes predicted operating conditions of an energy storage system for a given time period in the future, wherein the predicted operating conditions are based on a load history for a power consuming premises coupled to the energy storage system and on a value history for power provided to and consumed from a power grid. The load history of the power consuming premises characterizes unmetered power transferred to the power consuming premises, metered powered transferred from the power grid to the power consuming premises and metered powered exchanged from the energy storage system to the power grid. In the example, a schedule manager generates an operation schedule for operating the energy storage system. The operation schedule includes charge and discharge patterns for an energy storage source that are tuned to curtail power costs and/or elevate power revenue value.

  • Patent number: 10520921
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an aircraft part for an assembly includes creating a 3D geometry model for an aircraft part having surface features and holes represented by the 3D geometry model and sized to nominal dimensions. The method includes generating a NC machining program directly from the 3D geometry model, with instructions for a single NC machining apparatus to machine the aircraft part, and including instructions to machine the holes to nominal. And the method includes machining the aircraft part utilizing the NC machining program. For this, the NC machining apparatus utilizes a hole-forming tool set at substantially the nominal, instead of at a high or low side of a related hole-diameter tolerance range to allow for tight geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements, whereby the holes are machined to substantially the nominal. This method enables the full process capability of the CNC machines while utilizing inspection tolerances that are measurable.

  • Patent number: 10520958
Abstract: A pressure control device maintains a pressure within a target of pressure control at a set pressure. The pressure control device includes a correction circuit that corrects a pressure signal, which represents the pressure within the target of pressure control that is detected by a pressure sensor, such that the pressure signal approaches a set pressure signal representing the set pressure; a comparison circuit that compares the corrected pressure signal with the set pressure signal; and a valve drive circuit that controls an opening and closing of a flow control valve based on a comparison result from the comparison circuit. The correction circuit is a filter circuit. The frequency characteristic of the filter circuit has a peak at a prescribed frequency, and corrects the pressure signal so as to raise a component of the prescribed frequency of the pressure signal.

  • Patent number: 10506743
Abstract: Method, systems are provided for providing automated open-loop control of an airflow cooling system in an IHS (Information Handling System), where the open-loop control is automatically adjusted based on changes to the components installed by the IHS. An airflow impedance, providing an amount a component physically impedes airflow, is retrieved for a new component. An estimated airflow delivery to the installed location of the new component is determined and scaled based on the airflow impedance of the new component and based on the ability to bypass the new component with ventilated airflow. An airflow delivery target for the new component is determined based on the ambient air temperature available at the installed new component. The airflow delivery target is scaled based on the installed location of the new component. The airflow cooling system is operated to equalize the estimated airflow delivery to the new component with the airflow delivery target for new component.
