Abstract: A centering and holding fixture includes a base, a piston disposed within a piston chamber at least partially located within the base, and a radially flexible ring connected to the piston by force transmission apparatus operable to contract and expand the radially flexible ring by upward and downward motions respectively of the piston. The flexible ring may be slotted and may include alternating inwardly and outwardly extending radial slots extending axially through the flexible ring and extending radially inwardly and radially outwardly from radially outer and inner surfaces of the flexible ring respectively to axial stress relief holes extending axially through the flexible ring. The apparatus may further be operable to contract the radially flexible ring when the piston chamber is pressurized and to expand it when the piston chamber is depressurized. Spring loaded clamps mounted to the base may be used to secure a workpiece to the holding fixture.

  • Patent number: 7246801
Abstract: The present invention relates to a self-tightening keyless chuck to enable electric percussive drills to grip a tool shank. The chuck includes a rear sleeve, a body, a bearing ring, a bearing assembly, a nut, a jaw, a front sleeve and a stopper and so on. The bearing assembly utilizing a ball bearing is positioned with a circumferential arcuate race with a fixed depth, and the bottom surfaces of said circumferential arcuate race are provided with a plurality of ball-shape grooves. During the chuck grips a tool shank, the balls of said ball-bearing enter into the ball-shape grooves and are locked there, so as to prevent the tool from loosening due to the percussion vibration. In addition, the front sleeve engages with a nut through radial smooth press-fit to securely transmit a torque.

  • Patent number: 7226253
Abstract: The drilling of a hole through at least two structural components in alignment with a predrilled hole or marked location in one of the structural components is facilitated by a clamping mechanism that has a bail with two legs. One leg carries a first clamping section with a guide channel for a centering pin or a drill bit. When the centering pin has served its purpose it is removed from the guide channel which then guides the drill bit. The other leg carries a second clamping section opposite the first clamping section. The second clamping section has a pressure bushing drivable by a clamping drive for clamping the second structural component against the first structural component for drilling a hole through all structural components including through a predrilled hole or for simultaneously drilling all structural components at the marked location. The pressure bushing has a hollow free end forming a cavity.

  • Patent number: 7222862
Abstract: A tool holder for a power tool, in particular a drilling and/or hammering tool comprising a manually actuable sleeve (40) wherein components of the tool holder are held within the sleeve by a snap ring (100) which snap ring is fitted within the sleeve. The snap ring has at least one resilient arm (102) and the sleeve has a corresponding number of through holes (105) which extend to a radially outwardly facing surface of the sleeve, arranged such that the or each arm is engageable with a corresponding through hole in a snap fit. Each arm and through hole cooperate so that the portion (104) of the or each arm which can be viewed from the radially outwardly facing surface of the sleeve appears in the shape of a symbol. Thus, the snap ring (100) has the dual function of maintaining components, such as a locking ring (42) within the sleeve (40) and of providing an external indication to a user of how to actuate the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 7216873
Abstract: A drill chuck has a chuck body centered on and axis, and a tightening element surrounding the body and rotatable thereon about the axis. The tightening element has a front sleeve formed with jaw-holding guides and a rear sleeve releasably coupled with the front sleeve. A retaining ring bears axially forward on the sleeve. Releasable locking formations on the ring and body are relatively displaceable between a retaining position preventing axial rearward shifting of the ring and sleeve on the body and a freeing position permitting such shifting. A pusher rotationally coupled to the jaws bears axially forward on the jaws. Interengaging screwthreads on the pusher and chuck body are provided so that relative rotation of the sleeve together with the jaws and pusher relative to the chuck body axially displaces the jaws between their positions.
