  • Patent number: 9579230
Abstract: An orthotic device for correcting an abnormality in a newborn baby's neck includes a three element rigid or semi-rigid support member. The support member includes three elements, each in the shape of a frustum of a cone with one element stacked on top of another. The first or bottom element has a larger open base and a smaller upper portion and flares outwardly from top to bottom from vertical by about 20°. The middle element flares outwardly from bottom to top by about 20° and is superimposed on the first element. However, the second element is rotatably fixed to the first element and is rotatable in about one mm increments. The upper element flares outwardly from vertical by about 45°. A method for correcting an abnormality in a newborn's neck in one mm increments per day using the aforementioned device is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9398974
Abstract: A bruxism sensor includes a diaphragm switch which provides an electrical output including a diaphragm separating a pressure side having a pressure side inlet and a suction side having a suction side inlet. An audible alarm having an electrical input is coupled to the electrical output. A first hose has one end is fluidically coupled to the pressure side inlet and a biting configured opposite end (biting end) for positioning between teeth of a user. Wherein upon a contraction of a mandible of the user, the biting end is squeezed which generates air pressure that is applied to the pressure side to generate a pressure level sufficient for activating the diaphragm switch, and while the diaphragm switch is activated, the audible alarm automatically sounds an alarm for alerting the user of contraction of their mandible.

  • Patent number: 9393148
Abstract: Methods of preventing the development or exacerbation of tendinosis include receiving a first ring of resilient material over a first digit of a hand of the user and a second ring of resilient material over a second digit of the hand of the user. The first and second digits receiving first and second rings are curled about an object to grasp the object with an increased circumference grip relative to a natural grip of the user. The first and second rings are automatically slid to an interleaved configuration on the first and second digits by moving the grasped object with the hand.

  • Patent number: 9226867
Abstract: An external structural brace apparatus and method for supporting a user on a surface and for the user to ambulate along the surface to relieve shoulder, armpit, hand, foot, and wrist loads, the apparatus includes first and second support beams that each have a telescoping cantilever beam that contacts the surface. The first and second support beams have a primary pivotal couple at one end to one another with a mechanism to create opposite symmetrical movement of the beams. An attachment element supports the user at their torso has a secondary pivotal connection to the first and second beams and third and fourth user handles that are pivotally attached to the first and second beams are for grasping by the user to extend and retract the telescoping cantilever beams to and from the surface at reduced and increased extension and retraction rates for user ease of ambulating along the surface.
