  • Patent number: 8982834
Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for transmitting a reference signal in a multi-antenna system. A terminal generates a plurality of reference signal sequences in which cyclic shift values that are different from each other are allocated to the respective plurality of layers, and generates an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (SC-FDMA) symbol to which the plurality of reference signal sequences are mapped. The SC-FDMA symbol is transmitted to a base station via a plurality of antennas. Each of the reference signal sequences is multiplied by either +1 or ?1 in accordance with an orthogonal covering code (OCC) index corresponding to the cyclic shift field in a DCI format transmitted via a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) for each layer.

  • Patent number: 8964583
Abstract: A measuring device for determining the channel-quality feedback quality of mobile stations contains a base station, a mobile station and a measuring unit. The measuring unit contains at least two antennas and a processing device. The measuring unit and the mobile station receive signals in each case by means of at least two antennas from the same at least two antennas of the base station. The mobile station determines a channel-quality feedback value from the signals it has received. The processing device determines the orthogonality of the signals received by the measuring unit. The processing device determines a channel-quality feedback value from the orthogonality. From this and from the channel-quality feedback value of the mobile station, the processing device determines the quality of the latter.

  • Patent number: 8958415
Abstract: A method for allowing distribution of congestion-related information between a cellular communication system supporting circuit-switched services and a cellular communication system supporting packet-switched services. A message destined for the packet-switched communication system is identified at the circuit-switched communication system, and congestion-related information, indicating the present congestion status of the circuit-switched communication network is included into the message. The message is then forwarded to a network node of the packet-switched communication system, where either a user equipment or the network node of the first cellular communication system can control Circuit-switched Fallback (CSFB) attempts towards the second communication system on the basis of the congestion-related information prior to having to initiate any access signaling associated with the CSFB attempts.

  • Patent number: 8953591
Abstract: In a conventional “distributed” integrated network node architecture, specific judgment processes cannot be executed in any routing and transferring unit. The routing and transferring unit is required to share judgment process related information with an enhanced processing unit or other routing and transferring units. Thus, when using enhanced processing units, manufacturing costs increase, while processing speed decreases when routing and transferring units cooperate. If any flow is disposed during a transfer from a packet transferring unit in a routing and transferring unit to a processing unit, the packet is disposed regardless of packet priority. In the present invention, a packet related to a specific judgment process is always transmitted to a specific routing and transferring unit from a line interface unit. If an inputted flow is over the transferring capacity, the line interface unit analyzes the packet header and determines the type, transport priority, and disposal priority of the packet.

  • Patent number: 8953470
Abstract: A system and method for facilitating connecting a switch to a network to improve network performance. In an illustrative embodiment, the system includes a first module for determining when the switch is initially connected to a network and providing a signal in response thereto. In a more specific embodiment, the switch is a router or Layer-3 (L3) switch. The one or more predetermined parameters include a load factor, values pertaining to capabilities of a processor included in the router, bandwidth capabilities of the interface and/or the router, internal router queue counts, and so on. The router employs a routing protocol such as Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP). The second module throttles and adjacency-formation rate based on the predetermined parameters.

  • Patent number: 8937876
Abstract: A wireless network (e.g., an LTE network) may be configured to monitor a communications interface to set an inactivity timer that, in turn, sets the operating mode of a communications interface. The operating mode may include a time-domain reception pattern of the wireless device. A wireless device may monitor a communications interface that includes at least a first logical channel and a second logical channel. Based on monitoring the communications interface, a first activity state for the first logical channel may be determined and a second activity state (e.g., an activity status) for the second logical channel may be determined. An inactivity timer used by the communications interface may be set to a first value or a second value based on the first and second activity states. The battery life of a wireless device may be preserved by setting an inactivity timer responsive to how the wireless device is used.
