  • Patent number: 9415434
Abstract: The invention concerns an arrangement (20) and a method for the manufacture of can bodies from pot-shaped blanks (37). To this end, the blank (37) is inserted into a bottom tool part (45). The blank (37) is clamped between a downholder (23) and a counter support surface (47) of the lower tool part (45). For controlling a position value ? determining the position and/or position change of the downholder (23), a drive arrangement (22) is provided. The drive arrangement controls the position value in accordance with a predetermined course, so as to move the downholder (23) into the clamping position or out of the clamping position EP. As soon as the downholder (23) reaches its clamping position EP, the drive unit (22) controls a force value in accordance with a predetermined course which determines the clamping force F(t) which is applied by the downholder (23) to the blank (37). This occurs preferably by an adjustment of the motor current I to a predetermined course of the desired value IE(t).

  • Patent number: 9404275
Abstract: A binding wire twisting apparatus for tying reinforcing bars. A motor rotates a shaft upon which a member reciprocates from a rearward to a forward position. The apparatus includes opposed fingers with opposed channels for fed binding wire. When in the rearward position, the member drives a wire feeding unit that feeds binding wire though the fingers and around the reinforcing bars. When the leading end of the fed wire impacts an actuator of a four-way valve, a pneumatic cylinder reciprocates the member from the first to the second position, and a cutter cuts the wire. Once in the second position, gripping surfaces entrap and hold the ends of the wire, and the rotating member, while holding the ends of the wire between first and second grip pieces, twists and ties the wire around the reinforcing bars, and a torque-release clutch decouples the motor from the shaft.

  • Patent number: 9333549
Abstract: A prediction equation “R0/t?(2R/t+(2R/t+1)?f)/2(1?(1+2R/t)?f)” is derived which predicts that bendability-dominated fracture will not occur when the critical surface strain ?critical is not exceeded by a strain on the metal sheet surface causing the occurrence of ductility-dominated fracture that is obtained from the minimum curvature radius R0 of a press-forming mold and the critical strain ?f in a plane strain region in a forming limit diagram. The minimum curvature radius R0 of a mold required to prevent the occurrence of bendability-dominated fracture is estimated, and the mold is designed with a curvature radius that is not less than the curvature radius R0.

  • Patent number: 9327328
Abstract: An apparatus used to repair damage from metal body panels of a transportation container. The apparatus includes a platform having wheels that can optionally be locked. The apparatus further includes a pivoting arm that can be selectively raised, lowered, extended or retracted to repair virtually any area of a transportation container. At the end of the pivoting arm is a cross-arm member comprised of a piston repair arm that can be fitted with a plurality of attachments depending on the contours of the surface being repaired. The area to be repaired can include perimeter walls, ceilings, doorframes, and/or corner posts. The pivoting arm and piston repair arm are driven using a pneumo-hydraulic system that is lighter than any other system currently used on transportation repair devices. The substantial reduction in weight allows the apparatus to readily enter transportation containers and be easily handled by a single operator.

  • Patent number: 9321090
Abstract: A manufacturing method forms components having a desired shape. A contoured surface is defined for a forming tool for forming a metal blank into the desired shape, wherein respective portions of the metal blank flow over the contoured surface during forming. An intrinsic material flow pattern resulting from the contoured surface is compared to a desired flow in order to identify regions of the contoured surface having an insufficient flow that creates areas in the formed metal blank receiving less than a desired amount of metal. A surface microtexture is applied onto the contoured surface in a pattern selected to increase metal flow along the identified regions by providing a friction in the identified regions that is reduced relative to adjacent regions of the contoured surface.
