  • Patent number: 10795860
Abstract: A system for managing an object storage includes frontend micro-services and backend micro-services. The frontend micro-services obtain a request to store data in an object storage; divide the data into slices; send a slice analysis request, based on a slice of the slices, to the backend micro-services; obtain, from the plurality of backend micro-services, a list of segments of the slice that are not stored in the object storage; and add a segment specified by the list of segments to a compression region. The backend micro-services identify segments of the slice specified by the slice analysis request that are not stored in the object storage and generate the list of segments of the slice based on the identified segments.

  • Patent number: 10795863
Abstract: A cluster of nodes implements a single distributed file system comprises at least first and second data centers and a coordination engine process. The first data center may comprise first DataNodes configured to store data blocks of client files, and first NameNodes configured to update a state of a namespace of the cluster. The second data center, geographically remote from and coupled to the first data center by a wide area network, may comprise second DataNodes configured to store data blocks of client files, and second NameNodes configured to update the state of the namespace. The first and second NameNodes are configured to update the state of the namespace responsive to data blocks being written to the DataNodes. The coordination engine process spans the first and second NameNodes and coordinates updates to the namespace stored such that the state thereof is maintained consistent across the first and second data centers.

  • Patent number: 10776206
Abstract: Described herein is technology for, among things, a distributed transaction system. The distributed transaction system includes a number of computing entities and a data storage unit in communication with the computing entities. The data storage unit is operable to store a file system that is accessible by the computing entities. The data storage unit is also operable to store a number of transaction journals corresponding to respective computing entities. The transaction journals describe transactions of the computing entities on the file system. A particular computing entity is operable to maintain a respective transaction journal without communicating with the other computing entities.

  • Patent number: 10776318
Abstract: A self-monitoring time series database system is described. A time series database system receives an alert trigger condition associated with multiple time series data points corresponding to multiple subsystems of the time series database system. The time series database system aggregates the multiple time series data points in an internal time series data point that is internal to the time series database system. The time series database system evaluates whether the internal time series data point meets the alert trigger condition. The time series database system outputs an alert notification associated with the internal time series data point and the alert trigger condition if the internal time series data point meets the alert trigger condition.

  • Patent number: 10776506
Abstract: A self-monitoring time series database system which enforces usage policies is described. A time series database system receives an alert trigger condition for a system user, wherein the system user is associated with multiple time series data points corresponding to multiple subsystems of the time series database system. The time series database system aggregates the multiple time series data points in an internal time series data point, which is internal to the time series database system, associated with the system user. The time series database system evaluates whether the internal time series data point associated with the system user meets the alert trigger condition. The time series database system reduces a level of access by the system user to the time series database system in response to an evaluation that the internal time series data point associated with the system user meets the alert trigger condition.

  • Patent number: 10776374
Abstract: A time series database system receives a trigger condition associated with time series data points corresponding to subsystems of the system. The system aggregates the time series data points associated with a first time into a first internal time series data point. The system aggregates the time series data points associated with a second time into a second internal time series data point if the first internal time series data point does not meet the trigger condition. The system calculates a projected internal time series data point based on the first internal time series data point and the second internal time series data point if the second internal time series data point does not meet the trigger condition. The system outputs a projected alert notification associated with the projected internal time series data point and the trigger condition if the projected internal time series data point meets the trigger condition.

  • Patent number: 10726205
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for checking documents using colloquialisms. Colloquialisms used in messages by users in a social network are tracked. The relationships (e.g., co-worker) between the senders and recipients of these messages are identified. A social graph is then generated to depict the relations between the users in the social network based on these identified relationships. Furthermore, usage patterns of colloquialisms (e.g., a particular colloquialism is used only with close friends as opposed to co-workers) are formulated. A rule set is generated using the social graph and formulated usage patterns. By using the rule set to check documents, documents may be more accurately checked for spelling and/or grammatical errors by taking into consideration the appropriate usage of colloquialisms based on the context (e.g., communicating with a friend). Furthermore, alternative words or phrases may be appropriately recommended based on the context using such a rule set.

  • Patent number: 10698723
Abstract: Techniques for processing “destructive” database statements are provided. Destructive database statements, when processed, cause metadata of a database object to be changed. Examples of such database statements include ones that delete an index, that set a column as unused, and that drop a constraint on a column. When such a statement is received, a change is made to metadata of a database object. Such a metadata change may involve setting an index as unusable, disabling a constraint, or invalidating a cursor. After the metadata change, a first time is determined. Then, it is determined when one or more database transactions that were pending at the first time have committed. After those database transaction(s) have committed, one or more operations are performed, such as dropping an index or dropping a constraint.

Abstract: A method for information processing is provided, which includes the follows. Whether a target OAT file corresponding to a target DEX file that an application relies on is missing is detected, in response to a start control instruction for the application detected. Existence of a backup target OAT file is detected when the target OAT file is missing. A hard-link file configured to back up the target OAT file is determined, and the target OAT file is read from the hard-link file, when the backup target OAT file exists. Validity of the target OAT file is verified. The target OAT file is loaded when the target OAT file is valid.

  • Patent number: 10496248
Abstract: An approach is provided for monitoring disk utilization at an object level. At a first time a first size of an object in a System i computing platform is determined by calling an application programming interface (API). At a second time a second size of the object is determined by calling the API. A difference between the first and second sizes is determined. The difference is determined to be greater than a threshold. Based on the difference exceeding the threshold, an alert is sent indicating growth at the object level rather than at an auxiliary storage pool level. The API is called to obtain the sizes of objects in an integrated file system in the System i computing platform. Differences between the sizes of the objects at a user-entered start date and the current time are determined and presented. A report including the differences is generated and sent.
