  • Patent number: 11163845
Abstract: In an example embodiment, position bias is addressed by introducing an inverse propensity weight into a loss function used to train a machine-learned model. This inverse propensity weight essentially increases the weight of candidates in the training data that were presented lower in a list of candidates. This achieves the benefit of counteracting the position bias and increases the effectiveness of the machine-learned model in generating scores for future candidates. In a further example embodiment, a function is generated for the inverse propensity weight based on responses to contact requests from recruiters. In other words, while the machine learned-model may factor in both the likelihood that a recruiter will want to contact a candidate and the likelihood that a candidate will respond to such a contact, the function generated for the inverse propensity weight will be based only on training data where the candidate actually responded to a contact.

  • Patent number: 11132339
Abstract: Techniques are provided for synchronous replication for synchronous mirror copy guarantee. A file system dependent technique for synchronous mirror copy guarantee is provided by overriding default behavior of a persistent fence so that the persistent fence is activated to block operations targeting a storage object having a synchronous replication relationship based upon the synchronous replication relationship being out of sync. The default behavior of the persistent fence is overridden to allow operations to be executed upon the storage object based upon the synchronous replication relationship being in sync. A file system independent technique for synchronous mirror copy guarantee is provided by intercepting operations before the operations are received by a file system. The operations are selectively forwarded to the file system or not based upon a state of a synchronous replication relationship.

  • Patent number: 11106648
Abstract: A method and system for generating a clarity grading look-up table includes collecting actual inclusion parameter data for a plurality of gems, where the actual inclusion parameter data includes an actual clarity grade and an actual inclusion parameter data combination. A mathematical relationship between a clarity grade and a particular inclusion parameter combination is then extrapolated from the actual inclusion parameter data. A derived clarity grade is then assigned to a plurality of inclusion parameter combinations as a function of the mathematical relationship and a set of inputted inclusion parameters. Also, a method and system for providing a clarity grade includes receiving a plurality of inclusion characteristics associated with a gem and parameterizing each of the inclusion characteristics, so that a parameter value is assigned to each inclusion characteristic. The parameter values are then input to a mathematical formula so as to provide a parameterized clarity grade for the gem.

  • Patent number: 11016986
Abstract: Various systems and methods are described herein for an improved spreadsheet application that allows a user to generate, manipulate, and replicate data visualizations (e.g., sparklines, graphs, charts, etc.) using functions without importing data into cells of the application. For example, data is stored in one or more remote or local data stores accessible to the improved spreadsheet application. A user enters a function into a cell of the improved spreadsheet application. The improved spreadsheet application generates a query using the function, the query identifying a portion of a dataset to retrieve from the data store(s). The improved spreadsheet application then transmits the query to the data store(s) and retrieves the requested data. A renderer of the improved spreadsheet application then renders a sparkline using the retrieved data. The improved spreadsheet application displays the rendered sparkline in the cell in which the function was entered, or at another designated location.
