  • Patent number: 7522565
Abstract: A wireless communication network is disclosed comprising a base station system, a switching system, and a transport network. The transport network comprises a conventional signaling network configured to transport call signaling and a bearer network configured to transport user communications. The bearer network also transports call signaling, as special connections are established and a portion of the capacity of the special connections are reserved for transporting call signaling. In response to receiving call signaling from a mobile wireless device or a packet data network, the base station system or the switching system determines if the call signaling is for a low latency service. If the call signaling is for a low latency service, then the base station system or the switching system forwards the call signaling over the special connection. If not, then the base station system or the switching system transmits the call signaling over the conventional signaling network.

  • Patent number: 7505456
Abstract: The invention includes, among other things, a system for passing TDM traffic through a packet switch. In one embodiment, the system includes a packet switch that has a plurality of data ports and is capable of routing FSDU packets between the plurality of data ports. A TDM encapsulation circuit process a TDM data flow that is incoming to the switch. A circuit demultiplexer processes the incoming data flow to buffer data associated with different TDM circuits into different buffer locations. A timer monitors the amount of time available to fill the FSDU, and when the time period reaches the frame boundary, an FSDU generator generates an FSDU that is filled with data associated with the TDM circuits. Header information is added for allowing the packet switch to route the generated FSDU to a port associated with the respective TDM circuit.

  • Patent number: 7457238
Abstract: A transmission system can perform flow control even if a flow control instruction is invalidated, and even when the transmission system malfunctions, it can autonomously recover to normal operation for communications. A flow control instruction sender has at least one of two functions including a normal transmission mode to send a flow control instruction for flow control over a congestion state if an event, such as the occurrence of a congestion or the removal of a congestion, occurs when a data receiver receives data, and an autonomous transmission mode to select one of a plurality of congestion states at present in each period and autonomously send a flow control instruction corresponding to the selected congestion state. The flow control instruction sender preferentially sends a flow control instruction in the normal transmission mode in which a congestion actually occurs or is actually removed, when timings of the normal transmission mode and the autonomous transmission mode coincide with each other.

  • Patent number: 7443831
Abstract: An aspect of the present invention provides a method of controlling a multi-layer transport network. In accordance with the invention a determination is made as to whether a connection supporting a performance requirement of a call can be established within a first layer of the network. If the connection cannot be established, an association is defined between the call and a second call instantiated within a respective server layer of the network. By this means a network call controller in a client layer relies on a call and connection in a server layer instead of a connection in the client layer.

  • Patent number: 7443795
Abstract: A data transmission method of a GPRS includes estimating a possibility of an impending stall state of a transmit window, transmitting a stall state alarm signal of the transmit window to a network if it is predicted that the stall state of the transmit window is approaching, and controlling data transmissions according to whether an ACK signal for the stall state alarm signal is received or not from the network. Notification of the possibility of the stall state of the transmit window is provided at least once and preferably twice to the network before stall actually occurs, thereby reducing the number of occurrences of the transmit window's stall state. As a result, waste of network resources due to re-transmission performed in the stall state is minimized.

  • Patent number: 7443876
Abstract: A plurality of information processing terminals 100 to 130 are connected to a network. Each processing terminal parameter-manages the total of the idle time units obtained through the detection of the idle time on the network. The processing terminal acquires a transmission privilege when the parameter and its own node ID agree with each other, and sends out the transmission frame inclusive of its own node ID to the network. The reception means 105 receives, from the network, the transmission frame transmitted from the other information processing terminals. The control means 103 extracts the node ID included in the transmission frame thus received and updates the parameter to the node thus extracted, and adjusts the synchronization of the parameters commonly possessed on the same network. In accordance with such a configuration, the transmission privilege can be rounded without exchanging a token frame between specified nodes.

  • Patent number: 7436767
Abstract: A Multiservice Access Concentrator (MAC) provides traffic shaping by allocating at least one cell stream to at least one cell slot of a cell scheduling table. A cell slot and a corresponding cell stream are designated in response to a cell interrupt signal generated following cell transmission. At least one counter and at least one credit buffer are maintained, and a service class of the designated cell stream is determined. The size of the credit buffer is determined by a maximum burst cell size (MBC) of the corresponding cell stream and virtual circuit (VC). A cell of the designated cell stream is transmitted in response to the determined service class and a count of the at least one counter and contents of the at least one credit buffer. Therefore, cells are transmitted based on cell credits. A virtual circuit (VC) builds cell credit based on the sustained cell rate (SCR) of the VC. Cell credit is consumed as cells are transmitted.

  • Patent number: 7408890
Abstract: A method and system for implicitly controlling the floor during a packet-based real-time media conference. A participating station implicitly requests the floor by simply beginning to send media to the conference server. If no other participant currently holds the floor, the server grants the floor to the first station from which the server receives an incoming media stream. Further, in a half-duplex conference, if a participating station receives an incoming media stream when it is sending an outgoing media stream, the station treats the incoming media stream as an implicit floor denial and responsively alerts a user that the floor is denied.

  • Patent number: 7400652
Abstract: In an MPEG-2 decoding system, a transport decoder decodes a transport packet corresponding to a Program Identification (PID) from an input transport stream, and retrieves a Program Association Table/Program Map Table PAT/PMT) from the stream when it is requested to retrieve Program Specific lnformation (PSI). A pre-decoder checks PSI stored in a PSI memory in response to a request to change to a desired channnel, reads PIDs of transport packets for a Packetized Elementary Stream (PES) of a program corresponding to the desired channel from the PSI memory to provide it to the transport decoder, receives the PAT/PMT and updates the contents of the memory using the PAT/PMT. After decoding, PSI previously extracted therefrom is stored in the memory. PIDs of transport packets for the PES of desired program are obtained referring to the stored PSI, and transport packets having the PIDs are retrieved and decoded.
