Abstract: A method for correcting packet errors in a combined stream including steps of receiving a combined and re-packetized transport stream comprising program information for at least two transport streams (A and B), wherein each transport stream (A and B) comprises program information associated with respective distinctive packet IDs (PIDs), detecting an invader packet associated with the combined and re-packetized transport stream A does not belong in the combined and re-packetized transport stream A, offering the invader packet to combined and re-packetized transport stream B in which a gap is detected, and de-combining combined and re-packetized transport stream B such that information from a de-combined version of the invader packet fills a gap in a de-combined version of combined and re-packetized transport stream B.
Abstract: A transmission apparatus and method updates a communication mode selection table that updates a communication mode selection table correctly and selects an optimal MCS according to an actual channel condition. A buffer temporarily stores calibration data to be transmitted for updating a table. A scheduler performs scheduling of data to be transmitted based on a CIR on a downlink reported from a plurality of communication terminal apparatuses. When there is no data to be transmitted, the scheduler sends calibration data from the buffer. When calibration data is transmitted as a result of the scheduling, the scheduler notifies an address information generation section of the communication terminal apparatus to which the calibration data is transmitted.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed to provide orthogonal multiple access communication in a return link of a satellite communication system. In one embodiment, a closed loop control of a transmit parameter associated with transmission of signals may be performed. In addition, changes in motion of a terminal are monitored such that an open loop control of the transmit parameter is performed, if the detected change meets a certain threshold. For example, an open control is performed if an abrupt or sudden motion is detected.

The calculation module is configured to calculate the difference value for each of the sorted sub-channels, except for the first sorted sub-channel, according to the corresponding quality value. The decision module is configured to decide a number of bits for each of the sorted sub-channels according to the difference values, wherein a summation of the numbers is equal to the predetermined number. The apparatus and the method are able to load bits efficiently according to the difference values.
Abstract: A method and server are disclosed for providing floor control in a full-duplex communication session. When no participant currently holds the floor, a server grants the floor in response to receipt of a media stream from a participant, by outputting the participant's media more loudly than one or more other participants' media, while concurrently outputting media from multiple participants. Further, the server may grant levels of the floor with varying levels of loudness, perhaps based on an order in which the server receives media streams as implicit floor requests from the various participants.
Abstract: A method of performing connectivity verification in a content routed network including a plurality of routers and wherein messages are transported through the network over a message transport layer, involves sending from an originating router a ping request message over the message transport layer along a user data path to a terminating router using a content routing protocol. The terminating router responds with a ping reply message upon receipt of the ping request message, and the message transport layer is monitored for the ping reply message at the originating router. Trace messages can also be sent through the network to determine whether subscribers are reachable for messages originating from a particular publisher. Also trace messages can be sent through the network to determine whether subscriptions from a particular subscriber are reachable from a particular originating router.

Abstract: A method for sending a variable length response message in a master-slave communication system begins by issuing a command from a master device to a slave device. A response message is generated by the slave device. The length of the response message is determined by the slave device and is communicated from the slave device to the master device. The master device requests the rest of the response message from the slave device, and the slave device then sends the rest of the response message to the master device.
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for detecting a start symbol of a second zone of a frame. One or more symbol indices corresponding to one or more symbols of the second zone of a frame are derived. One or more codes on pilot sub-carriers corresponding to the one or more symbol indices may also be derived. Based on the one or more symbol indices a set of possible start symbol indices is established. Thereafter, a frame is received comprising one or more of a preamble symbol, a first zone and the second zone. It is determined if the received frame comprises the second zone. If the second zone is present in the received frame, the start symbol index of the second zone of the received frame is determined based on the detection of one or more codes and the set of possible start symbol indices. The present invention further provides methods and systems for detecting a Nth symbol of a frame.
Abstract: Each of several routers connected to a LAN elects the same router as the designated router for a multicast group identified by a multicast address. Each of the several routers implements a method for electing the designated router. The method includes in one embodiment, generating several values corresponding to the several routers, respectively. The several values are generated as a function of the several routers' IP addresses, respectively, and an IP address of a first multicast group. The values, in one embodiment, are then compared to determine which is the largest. Thereafter each router elects as the designated router for the multicast group, the router corresponding to the largest value.
Abstract: Test equipment operable to evaluate handoff in wireless networks can be configured as an infrastructure test system or a client mobility test system. The infrastructure test system includes a plurality of client emulating devices and a client motion emulator for testing real access points. Each client emulating device is operable to emulate multiple individual virtual mobile devices (“virtual mobile devices”). The client motion emulator computes a mathematical representation of the modeled network and motion of virtual mobile devices in that network. The client motion emulator employs the mathematical representation to calculate path loss between virtual mobile devices and the real access points in the modeled network. The calculated path loss information is transmitted to the virtual mobile devices. Path loss of communications from a virtual mobile device to an access point is implemented via a programmable attenuator.

Abstract: A packet transmitted on a network is read and decoded. A network device and its operating system are identified by analyzing the decoded packet. If more than one operating system is identified from the decoded packet, the operating system is selecting by comparing confidence values assigned to the operating systems identified. A service running on the network device is identified from the decoded packet or subsequent packets that are read, decoded and analyzed. The network topology of a network is determined by reading, decoding, and analyzing a plurality of packets. A flow between two network devices is determined by reading, decoding, and analyzing a plurality of packets. Vulnerabilities are assigned to operating systems and services identified by reading, decoding, and analyzing packets. Network configuration policy is enforced on operating systems and services identified by reading, decoding, and analyzing packets.
Abstract: Providing and configuring communication links may include determining a usable media pair from all existing media pairs and selecting any one channel from all existing channels. The selected channel may be assigned to any one of the media pairs. Any one or any combination of media pairs may be monitored in order to detect the existence of a communication signal on any of the media pairs. Some or all of the existing media pairs may be monitored to determine which of the media pair may be capable of facilitating communication at a maximum communication speed and if not, at a reduced speed. Any selected channel may be cross-connected to any one of the existing media pairs, which may be capable of facilitating communication at the maximum or reduced communication speed.

Abstract: A system receives a packet at a router, and pushes a label onto a label stack. The label stack is associated with the packet. The system provides a forwarding record containing label bindings for the router, and transmits the forwarding record to a collector. A system receives a forwarding record from a router. The system compares a first record entry type of the forwarding record with a second record entry type of the forwarding record to determine the traffic flow in the network. The system then maps the traffic flow in the network, based on a result of the comparing.
