The updated version of the native application is initialized while hidden beneath the current window display layer and continuously adjusted so that any viewable portion of the updated version of the native application remains hidden by the current version. Finally, the current version is terminated, thereby visibly replacing the current version of the native application without interrupting a seamless user experience.

This process is repeated until all the items in the stacked configuration have been displayed to the user. In another embodiment, the application receives a continuous user gesture that traverses a set of photos laid out in a grid configuration. When performing the continuous user gesture, whether or not the user pauses on a photo reflects a user intent with regard to whether or not the photo is to be shared to a network destination.
