  • Patent number: 10420689
Abstract: A one-piece vest garment having a fashionable appearance wearable in public settings, with an adjustable tapered/secure fit providing efficient manual transfer/lift assistance to caregivers with mobility challenged patients at risk for falling and in need of assistance during standing, walking, sitting, or repositioning activities. It provides secure, steady, and controlled patient lifting while promoting good body mechanics for reduced risk of caregiver shoulder, hand, wrist, and back injury. Since the vest more evenly distributes pressure around a patient's body, in lift maneuvers patient skin tears, bruising, and joint dislocations are reduced.

  • Patent number: 10368796
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring pressure exerted on an individual at one or more points by a support structure and adjusting the support structure in response to the monitored pressure are disclosed. The method for monitoring pressure may include the step of periodically receiving with at least three radio frequency readers, localized contact pressure data from a radio frequency addressable sensor placed on an individual. The method may further include, when an adjustment is required, calculating a radial distance defining a radius of the radio frequency addressable sensor to the at least three radio frequency readers, and calculating an intersection location or overlap of the radii such that the location of the radio frequency addressable sensor is determined. The method may also include, when the location of the radio frequency addressable sensor is determined, adjusting cells within a zone or subzone corresponding to the location.

  • Patent number: 10363181
Abstract: A patient support apparatus includes a patient support surface to support a patient. The patient support surface has at least one air bladder that is inflated and/or deflated to achieve a turn assist function and/or a therapy function of the patient support surface. A graphical user interface (GUI) is configured to receive user inputs from a caregiver to initiate the turn assist or therapy functions. The patient support apparatus has control circuitry coupled to the GUI. The GUI is controlled by the control circuitry to display information indicating that the patient is improperly positioned on the patient support surface for either the turn assist function or the therapy function. Alternatively or additionally, the control circuitry indicates that the patient is improperly positioned for raising a head section of a bed frame.

  • Patent number: 10321768
Abstract: A bed frame has: a left side component that includes an elongated left side rail and an extending segment at each end; and a right side component that includes an elongated right side rail and an extending segment at each end. Each such extending segment is pivotally attached to the corresponding elongated right side rail and is capable of being pivoted from substantially parallel it to substantially perpendicular it. Each of the elongated left side rail and the elongated right side rail includes two main sections that are pivotally attached to a shorter center member. At each end, the extending segments of the left side component and the right side component detachably couple to each other, forming lateral components of a bed frame assembly.

  • Patent number: 10285888
Abstract: An inflatable stretcher includes an upper and a lower cover member connected along their outer peripheral edges to define an internal air space. The lower cover member has a plurality of perforations forming an overall pattern contoured to the shape of a human body. First and second partitioning member are disposed in the air space and connected to the upper and lower cover members to divide the air space into a plurality of widthwise-extended air release passages and two lengthwise-extended air flow passages located at two lateral sides of the air release passages. A flow opening is formed between each second partitioning member and each corresponding first partitioning member. The flow openings respectively have a cross-sectional area smaller than that of each air release passage, enabling air supplied from an inflation device into the air space to produce an increased air lifting force at positions corresponding to a patient's hips.
