The annotation server is configured to modify a copy of an enterprise's stored Web content without necessarily modifying the actual stored Web content. The annotation server then provides the modified content to the user for viewing or other use.

Members belong to rooms, and are those users authorized to access them. Place type controls the creation of a place, including how many rooms it has, for example. Room type controls the appearance and content of rooms. A form manages the display of data notes. A form can contain fields for containing data and employ scripts to process and compute data. A page is the basic vehicle for content. Content is created using an or importing content from an external source. A member is also a data note, and each place contains its own member directory. A place is created and managed from a client browser in on-line mode and in offline mode with respect to a replicated copy of the space. Room security is independently managed, and security and aesthetics characteristics of subrooms selectively inherited.

Abstract: Various embodiments employ a graphics tiering approach that utilizes multiple different tiers, each of which defines how a user interface is presented to a user. In accordance with at least some embodiments, a higher end tier is provided and utilizes a combination of both bitmaps and realtime window geometry computations to provide a user interface that can include both transparent and blurred user interface elements. In addition, at least some additional tiers repurpose the higher end tier by incorporating an opaque element behind the transparent element to satisfy the limitations associated with the additional tiers.

Abstract: A user desiring to import digital images from a specified location may select that location. In response, a graphical element such as an arrow will be displayed with the beginning point of the element visually associated with the location. The user may then select a destination for the digital images. In response, the graphical element will be displayed with the ending point visually associated with the destination. In one embodiment, this is accomplished by having an arrow point as the graphical element. In one embodiment, graphical controls are located on the arrow. In response to a user clicking these controls, the digital images may be imported from the origin to the destination, or the process may be cancelled.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for notifying a user about the occurrence of at least one predetermined event associated with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in operable communication with the system. The system comprises a worker module and a user interface module. The worker module determines whether the predetermined event has occurred and, responsive to said determination, the user interface module generates an user interface providing information relating to an operating parameter of the UPS. The user interface comprises at least one of a graphical portion and an alphanumeric portion.

The scroll bar has an index and the data displayed on the display device is presented according to the index. In response to user commands the method and apparatus provide additional nested indexes for the displayed data.

Abstract: A system and method for accelerating scrolling of a display is disclosed. When a wheel of a wheeled pointing device is actuated by a user at a first rotational rate, the display in a window scrolls up or down one line at a time. When the wheel is rotated at a second rotational rate, the display in the window scrolls up or down multiple lines at a time. In additional embodiments, the scrolling technique shifts from one line at a time/multiple lines at a time to a page or pages at a time when the wheel is rotated for at a rotational rate for a minimum period of time.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and tool which allows users to create interactive representations of input and output data, and simulate the associated algorithms used to manipulate this data, that are used in spreadsheet applications and other similar software programs. The interactive simulation is visually represented by a customizable set of components which hereinafter will be referred to as a control panel. The control panels can consist of a variety of components which include user interface elements (such as sliders, buttons, and checkboxes), charts and maps. The underlying simulation is generated based on data sources within an application software program file (e.g., spreadsheet data cells) selected by the user during the control panel creation process.

Abstract: A network security monitor system groups a plurality of security events into network sessions, correlates the network sessions according to a set of predefined network security event correlation rules and generates a security incident for the network sessions that satisfy one of the network security event correlation rules. The system then presents the information of the network sessions and security incidents to a user of the system in an intuitive form. The user is able to not only learn the details of a possible network attack, but also creates new security event correlation rules intuitively, including drop rules for dropping a particular type of events.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and a method for configuring and loading a user interface. The method for configuring the user interface includes receiving user interface data from a remote device describing one or more user interface functions on the remote device. This user interface data is compared with a user interface template. A display of one or more representations is configured based on the user interface data, with each representation corresponding to one of the user interface functions on the remote device. The user is then able to interact with the display of the representations in order to utilize the user interface functions available on the remote device.

According to an embodiment of the present invention, a graphical user interface (GUI) is provided that displays multimedia information that may be stored in a multimedia document. According to the teachings of the present invention, the GUI enables a user to navigate through multimedia information stored in a multimedia document. The GUI provides both a focused and a contextual view of the contents of the multimedia document.
