  • Patent number: 6826403
Abstract: A data server derives information regarding the identities of users placing calls in a circuit-switched communication network. It performs this task by initially establishing at least one known and trusted identity “seed.” The data server uses the trusted identity seed, in conjunction with information regarding calls placed in the circuit-switched communication network, to derive additional user identities. Further, a user device may encrypt its secret identification number before transmitting it to the data server to maintain the secrecy of this information. The data server is additionally configured to modify previously derived identities when the server determines that they have become inaccurate.

  • Patent number: 6801767
Abstract: This invention provides a method and system for distributing multiband wireless communications signals. Downlink RF signals in a plurality of downlink frequency bands are received and then combined into a combined downlink RF signal at the main unit. The combined downlink RF signal is subsequently split into multiple downlink RF-parts, which are converted to multiple downlink optical signals and optically transmitted to the remote units. At each remote unit, a delivered downlink optical signal is first converted back to a downlink RF-part which is subsequently separated into a plurality of downlink RF-groups by frequency band. Each downlink RF-group is individually conditioned (e.g., filtered and amplified). The individual-conditioned downlink RF-groups are then combined and transmitted to a dedicated downlink antenna.

  • Patent number: 6771975
Abstract: A method for processing data, in a wireless application protocol for wireless applications using Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), includes the steps of: (a) receiving data from an upper layer into a Wireless Datagram Protocol (WDP) layer; (b) storing the data received in the WDP layer in step (a) in a common buffer which is commonly used by the WDP layer and a USSD Dialogue Control Protocol (UDCP) layer; and (c) forming packets in the UDCP layer using the data stored in the common buffer in step (b), and then transmitting the packets through the USSD. According to the method, memories for the WDP layer and the UDCP layer, which is an adaptation layer for a Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) USSD bearer, are integrated into one, effectively reducing a required memory size compared to conventional methods in which the WDP layer and the UDCP layer use separate memories.

  • Patent number: 6728539
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of registering a location in a mobile communication system in which the call signal traffic can be further reduced without increasing the location registration signal traffic. When a base station ID defined by notification information changes, or when a predetermined period of time has passed, the base station ID is stored in the history of the mobile device. From the latest history of the mobile device, one or a plurality of base stations near which the mobile device has a possibility of passing by next are statistically predicted. The predicted base stations are then stored as a personal location registration area. Based on the history, the registered personal location registration area is extracted so as to perform a location registration operation. Accordingly, the location registration operation can be performed with the optimum personal location registration area for the movement pattern of each mobile device.

  • Patent number: 6725012
Abstract: A deployment method maintains a cluster of subsatellites within a rigid formation relative to and orbiting about a real or fictitious center satellite that in turn orbits the earth in a frozen inclined eccentric reference orbit by determining the subsatellite reference orbits of the each of the subsatellites based upon position and velocity vectors of the center satellite. The determined subsatellite reference orbits can then be maintained through fuel efficient microthrusting so as to maintain the rigid formation for coherently combining communication signals within a very large sparse antenna array formed by the cluster having improved beam directionality for improved signal communications.

  • Patent number: 6625424
Abstract: A quadrature tranceiver has a transmitter, a receiver, and a common local oscillator. With the transmitter switched off and the receiver switched on, a DC-error in the receiver is nulled in servo loops in in-phase and a quadrature receiver paths. After settling, the servo loops provide output values that are freed of the DC-error. DC-nulling output values are then sampled and stored. After sampling, the servo loops are opened. Thereafter, the transmitter is switched on while inputting a fixed signal to the transmitter, and DC-signals injected into in-phase and quadrature paths of the transmitter are adjusted until the opened servo loops provide the same output signal as obtained at the end of the DC-nulling. Corresponding values of the injected DC-signals are then stored as transmitter calibration values.

  • Patent number: 6615033
Abstract: Communications sessions between two or more radio transceivers are synchronized automatically to conserve battery power. A duty cycle is established, and the duty cycle data are communicated from one transceiver to the other(s) along with the time of day and other information. When the on-time portion of the duty cycle indicates that the transceiver is to be powered-on from a power-conserving sleep state to a full-power active state, a microprocessor causes power to be applied to the radio transceiver circuitry. Because they are synchronized, all transceivers of the system simultaneously power-on in this manner. In the active state, there is sufficient power for radio communication between the transceivers, and the users can use the transceivers in the conventional manner during the active state. The transceivers remain in the active state until the off-time portion of the duty cycle indicates to the microprocessor that the transceiver is to be powered-off from the active state to the sleep state.
