  • Patent number: 9992652
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a UE. In accordance with the present disclosure, a number of user devices in a network may be divided into a plurality of service groups based in part on priority levels associated with each group. In some examples, a network may distribute a plurality of resource pools to each of the above-assigned groups. Thus, for proximity based service (ProSe) communication, user devices within each group may select resource pools corresponding to the priority levels of the groups associated with the user device. Thus, in accordance with the present disclosure, division of resources based on priority levels of groups and UEs may ensure greater reliability of access to resources for high priority communication.

  • Patent number: 9986446
Abstract: System and methods for providing special radio provisions to link budget limited devices. Before establishing a cellular connection with a cellular network, a user equipment device (UE), such as a link budget limited UE, may negotiate the special radio provisions with the network by presenting requested profile information to the network, and receiving back approved profile information from the network. The UE may perform these communications either directly, via a non-cellular communication connection with the network, or indirectly, via a companion or proxy device. When the UE initiates a cellular connection with the network, both entities may use information specified in the approved profile information, which may improve efficiency of the connection. In some scenarios, the approved profile information may identify a class of devices to which the UE belongs. The approved profile information may also be used in establishing connections with other devices of the same class.

  • Patent number: 9973889
Abstract: A signal analysis system matches a mobile device cellular identifier to a mobile device network identifier. The system obtains multiple cellular positioning records (CPRs) and multiple network positioning records (NPRs). These records include different types of information because they are generated by different types of networks. The system performs spatial matching and temporal matching of the CPRs and the NPRs to identify a specific mobile device cellular identifier among the CPRs that belongs to a mobile device identified by a specific mobile device network interface identifier among the NPRs.

  • Patent number: 9967374
Abstract: A mobile device can include a unibody component (e.g. chassis shell) with at least a co-mold feature that isolates a contiguous portion of the unibody component from an outer portion of the unibody component. For example, the outer portion and the contiguous portion can be made of an electrically conductive material. The co-mold feature can be made of non-conductive material that electrically isolates the contiguous portion from the outer portion. The co-mold feature can be made by co-molding a resin material in a channel cut into a piece of metal and later exposing the cured resin material on two sides.

  • Patent number: 9961559
Abstract: Positioning determination of a communication device in a wireless communication network is supported by a positioning device receiving [230] tight synchronization signals from a master positioning cell; determining [232] therefrom a plurality of time differences between their actual and theoretical times of arrival; synchronizing [234] a positioning cell clock based on the received tight synchronization signals adjusted by the time differences; and emitting [236] to the communication device a positioning signal at a time determined by the synchronization. The positioning signal includes an identifier of the positioning cell, and it is transmitted so as not to interfere with positioning pilot signals transmitted by the wireless communication network. The positioning device may alternatively receive synchronization signals from another positioning cell instead of a master positioning cell.

  • Patent number: 9954600
Abstract: Selecting serving cells in air to ground communication systems efficiently and with maximum knowledge of forward and return link channel conditions allows maximum throughput available to a user at any point in time, particularly in the presence of high interference. Airborne based and ground based systems may collect forward and return link channel conditions and develop user capacity estimates to be used by aircraft and ground based transceivers. Such user capacity estimates may be shared among distributed air-to-ground networks to ensure the latest channel conditions are available for serving cell selection decisions.

  • Patent number: 9949135
Abstract: Information about a signal device is received at a first location in a first physical environment. The signal device broadcasts a signal to a computing device. A first indication is received from the computing device. The first indication includes a first strength of signal of the signal device received by the computing device. Whether the first strength of signal is above a threshold is determined. A second location is determined. The second location is where the computing device is located when the first strength of signal is above the threshold. The second location is within the first physical environment. A first visual representation of the first physical environment is displayed. The first visual representation includes one or more of the following: the signal device at the first location, at least one physical item found in the physical environment, a broadcasting power of the signal device, and the second location.

  • Patent number: 9949076
Abstract: “Spoof” paging messages including the TMSI of a user equipment (129) known to be a vicinity are transmitted with a relatively high periodicity in an indoor cluster of presence nodes (113-121) and the node which receives the paging response from the user equipment is recorded, thus giving an indication of presence (and location) with a fine granularity. An additional presence node (125) having a different LAC from the macrolayer (123) is located at the entrance to the indoor cluster so that the TMSI and IMSI of the user equipment can be obtained. The invention can advantageously be employed in a retail store where a fine granularity in tracking subscriber movements around the store is desired. To conserve the user equipment's battery life, spoof paging messages are not sent to those user equipments which enter the vicinity on a regular basis, such as employees of the retail store.

  • Patent number: 9942094
Abstract: The use of a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) of a user device to perform Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC) update may replace the conventional use of multiple SMS messages to update the UICC of a user device. A UICC update request may be sent to a UICC update service of a wireless communication network via a communication session by a trusted update application that is executing in the TEE. Subsequently, the UICC update service may send a UICC update file to the user device via the communication session for storage in the TEE. A copy of the UICC update file is then transferred from the TEE to modem software of a modem in the user device. The modem software chunks the UICC update files into multiple UICC update data chunks. The data chunks are sent by the modem software to the UICC to update the UICC.
