Abstract: An approach for enabling multiple tag associations to be used for classifying a contact identifier is described. A first tag is associated with a contact identifier for grouping into a first classification; and a second tag is associated with the contact identifier for grouping into a second classification. Storage of the first tag and the second tag is initiated along with the contact identifier as part of a contact list.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for facilitating transmission of file access type messages over a Fiber Channel (FC) network. In one embodiment, at a file interposed access protocol layer of a file access client, a file access type operation is received from a file access type layer at the client device. The interposed layer may be interposed between an upper file access layer and an FC layer. The file access type operation specifies a request pertaining to file access. At the interposed file access protocol layer of the client, the file access type operation is modified into one or more sequence of operations so that the operations can be transmitted over an FC network. A sequence of operations are transmitted to an file access server over the FC network.

Abstract: Video sources and inertial sensors are attached to a weapon and to goggles. A computer receives video images from the weapon- and goggles-mounted sources and inertial data from the sensors. The computer calculates a location for an image from the weapon-mounted source within an image from the goggles-mounted source using the inertial sensor data. The sensor-based location is checked (and possibly adjusted) based on a comparison of the images. A database contains information about real-world objects in a field of view of the goggles-mounted source, and is used to generate icons or other graphics concerning such objects.

Abstract: In one aspect of the present disclosure, a method and system for creating and/or updating resource property-based indexes for Web Service Resources among multiple Web Services ServiceGroups is provided. In another aspect, a method and system for querying target WS-Resources with a certain property among multiple WS-ServiceGroups which have been connected with each other and have WS-Resource property indexes created therein is provided.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods for identifying topical experts from a seed set of experts by identifying “second tier” influencers for the topic. New concepts detected among a pool of experts and second tier influencers are monitored among the general population and their significance evaluated. Reports may be generated for these detected trends. Trends in social media for a concept represented in a taxonomy may be detected by monitoring content for descendent nodes for the concept. Correlations between social media activity with respect to the concept and sales of products corresponding to the concept may be made and sales predicted for the same or different products that correspond to descendants of the concept in the taxonomy.

Abstract: A people counting system and method for the automatic reconfiguration of a failed people counting sensor device in a people counting system. The system includes a plurality of addressable people counting sensor devices defining a cluster having a master device in communication with at least one slave device, each of the master device and the slave devices having a corresponding Media Access Control (“MAC”) address. The master device is adapted to sequentially transmit power-on commands to each of the slave devices, assign a different node address to each of the slave devices, receive an association of the MAC address of the master device to the node address and MAC address of each of the slave devices to form a cluster configuration, store the cluster configuration as a cluster configuration table, and replicate the cluster configuration table to the slave devices. A dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server assigns an IP public address to the master device.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of transmitting contact data in a peer to peer communications network includes transmitting a list of contacts from a first contact store to a first compare means. At the first compare means, the list of contacts from the first contact store is compared with a list of contacts from a second contact store to identify common contacts between the lists of contacts from the first and second contact stores, the first compare means outputting a contacts result based on the identification of the common contacts. At a second compare means, the contacts result output from the first compare means is compared with a list of contacts from a third contact store. An output of the second compare means is used to identify at least one contact to recommend as a new contact to a recommendee user in the network.

Abstract: Latency information is collected for each message as it moves through an organization. The latency information includes latency information for components processing the message. When the message is routed to the next server within the organization, the collected latency information for the server sending the message is included with the message. The collected latency information is written to a message tracking log when it either is delivered within the organization or when the message leaves the organization. The message tracking log may then be viewed such that the collected latency information may be viewed and analyzed.

Abstract: A method in an electronic device provides a mechanism for maintaining application mobility in a communication network, such as a content distribution network. In one exemplary embodiment, a user device transitions from a source content server in a first access network of the communication network to a destination content server in a second access network of the communication network. The source content server hands off responsibility for serving the content to the destination content server. In some embodiments, a tunnel is created between the source content server and the destination content server.

Abstract: Mechanisms for providing data streams are disclosed. A device accesses a mapping stored at the device that maps a desired media content item to a source address and to a range of addresses in a storage device of a remote content distribution server allocated to the desired media content item. The device preforms a direct memory-to-memory transfer of the desired media content item from the remote content distribution server to a local memory of the device using the range of addresses. The device encapsulates the desired media content item from the local memory into a plurality of packets according to a streaming protocol. Encapsulating the desired media content item includes inserting into each of the plurality of packets the source address. The plurality of packets are streamed.

Abstract: An apparatus and method improving effective system throughput for replication of data over a network in a storage computing environment by using software components to perform data compression is disclosed. Software compression support is determined between applications in a data storage computing environment. If supported, compression parameters are negotiated for a communication session between storage systems over a network. Effective system throughput is improved since the size of a compressed lost data packet is less than the size of an uncompressed data packet when a lost packet needs to be retransmitted in a transmission window.

Abstract: A method for monitoring a processing region of a workpiece on which laser processing is being carried out, in which method the radiation emitted by the processing region is detected by a detector system in a space-resolved manner, wherein the radiation of the processing region is detected for each elemental area of the processing region imaged onto the detector system at least two wavelengths simultaneously. Accurate process monitoring may thereby be carried out.

Abstract: Security systems may include sensing, networked communications, stealth, alarms, and countermeasures, any or all of which may adapt to threats. These systems may also include armor and barriers of concrete and/or steel. They can adapt to severity of threats, weather, and/or other situational aspects. They can anticipate at least some threats in order to obtain early warning and react more quickly to those threats. They can adapt by altering their configurations, including alterations in communication networking structures and methods, and changes in data-storage and processing duties at processing nodes. Defensive and/or offensive countermeasures can be employed to deter, confuse, trap, and/or disable terrorists. The systems are capable of self-maintenance, self-healing, and self-restoration as threats subside. The systems can include subsystems capable of autonomous operation.

Abstract: The solution of the present application provides many types and forms of resources, such as products or services, to an environment of heterogeneous devices. An agent and centralized service may communicate to deliver an optimum package of resources to a device. Each device may include an agent that collects information important to determining the appropriate resources for the device and understanding the environment the devices are contributing to. The information may be stored and analyzed in a cross device knowledge base, and the knowledge base may be consulted to determine resources appropriate for devices. The agent and centralized service may engage in pro-active alerting and provisioning of services, based on any collected information, to minimize the burden of resource procurement on the customer. After delivery of resources, the agent and centralized service may also perform updating, repairing, and healing functions for the resources.

Abstract: Techniques for virtual environment-based web client management are disclosed. In one particular exemplary embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method for virtual environment-based web client management comprising monitoring web requests of a first web client of a first virtual machine, detecting a web request from the first web client matching one or more indicators, the one or more indicators corresponding to content to be handled on a second virtual machine, capturing a state of the first web client on the first virtual machine, transferring captured state information and web request information to a second web client on the second virtual machine, transitioning a user interface from the first web client to the second web client automatically using at least one of a keyboard controller driver and a hypervisor API, the second web client handling the web request from the first web client.

Abstract: The invention relates to a surveillance system having an image recording means for recording optically distorted images and having a transmission means for transmission of image information from the image recording means to a reproduction means which reproduces, in an undistorted form, image details of the images which have been recorded with optical distortion. In this connection, it is provided that the transmission means is designed for detail transmission of distorted images and for joint transmission of additional information, which allows image detail distortion to be corrected, in order to allow distortion correction in the reproduction means.

Access to an asset by a first device in the interaction session is detected. Session metadata relating to the interaction session is associated with the asset. The asset may be an asset that was generated by another device during another interaction session or it may have been generated by the first device in the interaction session.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a server having a controller to monitor for media content from a first source that is distributable where the media content is adjusted for distribution to a plurality of communication devices that are associated with a user and a portion of the plurality of communication devices use different communication protocols from another portion of the plurality of communication devices, obtain content metadata from the media content, receive a request for information associated with the media content from a first communication device of the plurality of communication devices of the user, compile the information from the content metadata based at least in part on a user profile associated with the user, and transmit the information to the first communication device.
