Abstract: This disclosure provides various embodiments for providing UI services. An application-independent, reusable UI framework receives a request from a first application, to perform a first operation on a first set of data relating to presentation of the first set of data on a UI. A subset of the first set of data is received from a data provider independent of the UI framework. At least one first service is identified in response, the first service hosted by the UI framework and adapted to perform the first operation on the first set of data. The first operation is performed on the subset of the first set of data using the at least one identified first service to produce a first processed set of data adapted for presentation on a UI of the first application. The first processed set of data is sent to the first application.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for integrating applications in a portal. A user interface is obtained in one or more computing devices from a first one of a plurality of applications. The user interface includes an identification of an object instance associated with an object type. A list of views associated with a second one of the applications is obtained. One or more of the views are configured to represent the object type. A modified user interface is generated from the user interface according to the identification of the object instance and the list of views. The modified user interface includes a component for selecting one of the views to represent the object instance.

Abstract: This specification relates to a mobile terminal capable of displaying contents and a control method thereof. The mobile terminal includes a memory configured to store a plurality of contents associated with a plurality of applications together with log information relating to each of the contents, a user input unit configured to receive condition information, input in relation to the log information and a controller configured to extract contents which satisfy the condition information based on the log information related to each of the contents, and display the extracted contents.

Abstract: In a method of displaying data in a locale-specific format, a template is generated based on an output of a server of a computing platform. The output is indicative of first format information associated with a first locale. Data is received for display in a user interface of the computing platform, and the template is populated based on the received data to provide a populated template. The populated template includes second format information associated with a second locale that is different from the first locale. The populated template may further include the first format information associated with the first locale. The populated template is provided for display in the user interface of the computing platform.

Abstract: A computerized method is provided that includes (a) receiving from the user a selection of one of a plurality of templates for the digital media album; (b) receiving from the user a subset of media album components; (c) in response to a user input, compiling an interim multimedia album using the selected template, the subset of media album components, and default data for each media album component not included in the subset of media album components, and thereafter displaying to the user the interim multimedia album; (d) receiving from the user additions to the subset of the media album components, and repeating step (c) with the subset including said additions; (e) receiving from the user further additions to the subset of the media album components until all of said media album components are received; and (f) compiling the created multimedia album using the selected template and said media album components.

Abstract: Techniques for segregating one or more logs of at least one multitasking user to derive at least one behavioral pattern of the at least one multitasking user are provided. The techniques include obtaining at least one of at least one action log, configuration information, domain knowledge, at least one task history and open task repository information, correlating the at least one of at least one action log, configuration information, domain knowledge, at least one task history and open task repository information to determine a task associated with each of one or more actions and segregate the one or more logs based on the one or more actions, and using the one or more logs that have been segregated to derive at least one behavioral pattern of the at least one multitasking user. Techniques are also provided for deriving intelligence from at least one activity log of at least one multitasking user to provide information to the at least one user.

Abstract: Switching between an arm's length user interface and a distance user interface is provided. A first user interface optimized to operate a computer from an arm's-length distance is presented on a display. A command is received. It is determined whether the command is from a wired device or a wirelessly-connected device. When the command is from a wired device, then the first user interface continues to be presented. When the command is from a wirelessly-connected device, then the display is toggled from the first user interface to the distance user interface. The distance user interface is optimized for operating the computer from a television-viewing distance. The television-viewing distance measured in feet is approximately half of a diagonal measure of the image displayed on the display device measured in inches.

Abstract: Hubs for social interaction via electronic devices are described. In one aspect, a data processing device includes a display screen displaying a social interaction hub, the social interaction hub including a collection of records. Each record includes a counterparty identifier identifying a counterparty of a past social interaction event, a mode indicium identifying a mode by which the past social interaction event with the counterparty occurred, and a collection of mode indicia each identifying a mode by which a future, outgoing social interaction event with the counterparty can occur. The counterparty identifier, the mode indicium, and the collection of mode indicia are associated with one another in the records of the social interaction hub.

Abstract: A magnifier movement system is described herein that provides a more user-friendly experience for users of natural input devices when moving the magnifier and interacting with magnified user interface elements. The system receives an indication that a user has touched the screen with a natural input device at a particular location. The system displays a drag control for moving the magnifier, but does not move the magnifier unless the user selects the drag control and moves the natural input device. If the drag control is unselected and the system receives additional natural input, then the system passes the input on to the magnified application. Thus, the magnifier movement system provides a more satisfying user experience for users of natural input-based computer systems and screen magnifiers.

Abstract: Techniques for self adjusting kiosk display information are provided. Presentation information is centered within a display of the kiosk. A center location for the presentation information is custom recalibrated within the display based on direction of a user. The layout, content, and presentation within the display of the kiosk is user-driven and customizable.

Abstract: A client machine initiates a browser instance of a browser. The client machine selects a first user identifying state for the browser instance prior to accessing any web pages by the browser instance, wherein the first user identifying state is associated with a first data structure set that comprises a first browser history, a first browser cache and/or a first cookie that are stored at the client machine. The client machine uses the first user identifying state in a session between the browser instance and a server. The client machine updates one or more of the first browser history, the first browser cache or the first cookie of the first data structure set based on the session without updating a second data structure set associated with a second user identifying state.

Abstract: The present invention is intended to make it possible to accurately and easily find out a solution when an error occurs and to make a display on a screen up to attaining the solution to be easily visible for a user, and has a solution display mode of sequentially displaying a plurality of question sentences in accordance with error content together with choices to the respective question sentences and displaying a next question sentence associated with the choice selected by a user and a choice to the next question sentence or a solution to the error content, and the choice to each of the question sentences is displayed together with a diagram showing the content of the corresponding choice.

Abstract: A control method causes a processor of an information apparatus to display an operation icon for causing an operation screen for an electric shutter device to be displayed. An operation screen is displayed which includes a shutter image representing a shutter of the electric shutter device when selection of the operation icon is sensed. When a swipe operation is sensed, a movement control command for moving the shutter in a swipe direction is outputted, and the shutter represented in the shutter image is moved in accordance with a swipe amount of the swipe operation. When stop information is received and the shutter represented in the shutter image is varied into a closed state, the shutter represented in the shutter image is retuned in a second direction opposite to a first direction which is a moving direction of the shutter represented in the shutter image.

Abstract: A navigation bar is provided for switching between modules within an expanded communication service such as email, calendar, contacts, tasks, etc. and for providing preview peeks associated with each module to a user. A temporary preview of a module may be provided upon a hover action over predefined navigation bar locations such as icons and/or textual identifiers without actually needing to switch to a module. One or more preview panes may be docked or pinned to a dynamically selected or user defined location on the main user interface so that they are permanently displayed within the main user interface. Users may be enabled to undock one or more of the docked preview panes through a user interface control. New or interesting activity within each module may be highlighted by displaying an information badge next to a module name, for example.

Abstract: A method and system for displaying slides associated with display categories. Display categories are simultaneously displayed, each display category including display sets, each display set including a set of slides. A first row of buttons is displayed for a selected display category. Each button in the first row of buttons corresponds to a different display set in the selected display category such that each display set is represented by a different button in the first row of buttons. A second row of buttons is displayed simultaneous with the displayed first row of buttons. Each button in the second row of buttons corresponds to a different slide in the display set selected via selection of the first button in the first row of buttons. The slide corresponding to the selected second button is displayed simultaneous with the displayed first row of buttons and the displayed second row of buttons.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided to implement a technique for using location information to identify and select movies or other content. In one implementation, an application for a device such as a smart phone or tablet computer uses location information to identify a movie that corresponds to the location, e.g., by fictional location or by where shots were filmed. Variations leverage the combination of user or target physical location and location information from a movie.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for automatically allocating and dynamically determining icons for placement on legacy task output as part of modernizing such tasks are provided. These enhanced modernization techniques may be used for many different applications to automatically provide graphical enhancement to legacy applications in ways heretofore not pragmatically possible because of the sheer volume of menus in typical enterprise scenarios running legacy applications. Example embodiments provide a Role-Based Modernization System (“RBMS”), which uses these enhanced modernization techniques to provide role-based modernization of menu-based legacy applications.

Abstract: Systems and methods for display of hierarchy tree movement using multiple display areas are presented. In an example method, nodes in one or more levels of a first hierarchy tree are displayed in a first area on a display. User input is received of a selected node of the nodes in the one or more levels of the first hierarchy tree to display a level below the one or more levels of the first hierarchy tree. In response to receiving the user input, a parent node of the selected node is displayed in a second area on the display. Nodes in a level of the one or more levels of the first hierarchy tree above the level that includes the selected node are removed from the first area, and nodes in the level below the one or more levels of the first hierarchy tree are displayed in the first area.

Abstract: A computer-implemented user notification method includes displaying, at user-accessible locations on a graphical display of a mobile device, notifications corresponding to user interest, preference, and frequency of interaction with particular applications or activities on the mobile device. By increasing ease of interaction with particular notifications and advertisements that are of increased importance and relevance for the user, a higher click through and conversion rate is anticipated.
