  • Patent number: 11172353
Abstract: A band steering method and a system for a wireless network is disclosed. The network comprises a first and a second radio band, an access node, and a plurality of client devices having single or dual band capability. According to the method, the access node receives a probe request from one of said client devices on the first or second radio band. The probe request indicates whether the client device has single or dual band capability. Thereafter, a probe response is generated by the access node only if the probe request indicates that the client device has single band capability, or if the probe request indicates that the client device has dual band capability and the probe request is received by the access node on the second radio band. On receiving the probe response the client device can use the appropriate radio band for communications within the network.

  • Patent number: 11166159
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for secure fine timing measurement (FTM) with encoded long training fields (LTFs). In some aspects, a device transmits an announcement frame for an FTM exchange that includes an indication of encoding. Based on the indication of encoding, an LTF of a first null data packet (NDP) of the FTM exchange is encoded. The device transmits the first NDP having the encoded LTF to another device, and receives, from the other device, a second NDP having an encoded LTF. A round-trip time for the first and second NDPs with encoded LTFs is determined. Based on this round-trip time, a distance between the device and the other device can be determined. By encoding the LTFs of the NDPs of the FTM exchange, third parties can be prevented from spoofing an FTM frame to compromise the FTM exchange and related proximity-based security.

  • Patent number: 11139877
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems are provided for transmission of a CSI report. A WTRU may receive an aperiodic CSI reporting request on a PDCCH. The WTRU may determine a time gap between a last symbol of the PDCCH of which the aperiodic CSI reporting request is received and a first uplink symbol of a designated uplink channel for transmission of a corresponding aperiodic CSI report. The determination of the time gap may include consideration of a timing advance value. A determination may be made as to whether a time threshold is shorter than the determined time gap. If the determined time gap is not shorter than the time threshold, the WTRU may transmit the CSI report. If the determined time gap is shorter than the threshold, the WTRU may not transmit the CSI report.
