  • Patent number: 5927529
Abstract: A child resistant container having a container body, a ring and closure. The container body has an annular guide disposed on its neck's outer surface. The ring has an annular support disposed on its inner surface. The ring rotatably couples to the container body by sliding the ring over the container body's neck and positioning the support inside the guide the ring has an annular protrusion on its outer surface. The protrusion is divided into segments. The closure has an annular protrusion on its wall's inner surface. The closure's protrusion is divided into segments. The closure is snapped on the ring and retained on the ring via an interlocking of the segments. The closure is removed from the ring by aligning the closure segments in a position so they will pass through the gaps in the ring protrusion.

  • Patent number: 5918752
Abstract: A tamper-evident squeeze-and-turn child-resistant closure includes separate inner and outer caps each of integral monolithic plastic composition. The inner cap comprises a skirt with internal threads having application and removal lugs extending radially outwardly therefrom. The outer cap comprises an outer skirt having application lugs extending radially inwardly therefrom for engagement with the application lugs on the inner skirt to thread the closure onto a container. A pair of diametrically opposed tabs on the outer skirt have inwardly extending removal lugs for engagement with the removal lugs on the inner skirt to unthread the closure from the container. The tabs are resiliently joined at one end to the skirt, and are joined to the skirt at an opposing end by frangible links that rupture upon first inward movement of the tabs to indicate possible tampering with the closure.

  • Patent number: 5918756
Abstract: A pressure vessel according to the present invention includes a housing with a cylindrical upper portion having a plurality of radially extending catch members on its circumference and a lid for mating with the housing with a cylindrical side edge having a plurality of hook-shaped retaining members spaced about its circumference to correspond with the catch members. A control system operates a lift to lower the lid onto the housing. A drive cylinder connected between the lid and the housing is then enabled to rotate the lid relative to the housing about its central axis between a locked position and an unlocked position. Spacers mounted to the inner surfaces of the retaining members act as bearings, guiding the lid as it rotates. As the lid rotates toward its locked position, finger portions of the retaining members cam into underlocking engagement with the catch members to draw the lid onto the housing.

  • Patent number: 5915576
Abstract: A double wall squeeze-and-turn child-resistant safety closure wherein skirt flexure stiffening web ribs are integrally molded into the closure so as to extend radially between the mutually facing wall surfaces of the skirts. The ribs are arranged in two sets of diametrically opposed web pairs generally angularly registered with an associated one of the pair of diametrically opposed outer wall squeeze zones. Each rib is also integrally joined to the closure base wall and protrudes therefrom axially of the closure a predetermined distance greater than the axial thickness of the peripheral region of the closure base wall that is joined to the ribs to thereby shift the outer skirt wall flexure swing point. Each pair of ribs is angularly spaced from one another on the closure base wall one on either side of and closely adjacent to a plane oriented at about 90 degrees to a plane intersecting the closure CR lugs to further localize the squeeze zone area.

  • Patent number: 5911331
Abstract: A plastic dome lid for a drinking cup is disclosed which has the capability of functioning as a complete closure lid for the cup and as a drink through lid employing a recloseable flip-open lid segment for this purpose. The dome lid is provided with a lower section that has a downwardly facing annular channel for receiving and engaging the rim of the cup and an upper section which includes a raised C-shaped dome. An intermediate section is provided between the upper and lower sections forming a central area located within and depressed relative to the C-shaped dome. A transverse wall extends from one leg to the other leg within the bite of the C-shaped dome and upwardly from the lower section to a location above the central area and below the upper sections so as to define a raised rib across the bite. A recloseable flip-open segment forms part of the lower section and extends inwardly from a location on the annular channel to a hinge line on the bottom section.

  • Patent number: 5908124
Abstract: A plastic tube with an integral finish and a twist off tab are blow molded. The twist off tab is connected to the finish of the tube by an annular groove forming a line of weakness. The tab is formed by the closing of mold halves about an extruded parison to form a flat twist off tab connected by a thin membrane to the exterior of the finish. The tab is then blow molded to form the tube. After the mold halves are opened, the twist-off tab is trimmed to provide the finished tube. The tab is formed by a conventional blow molding process without the need of a secondary operation. A plurality of blow molded corrugations are provided between annular blow molded ribs on the finish and provide added strength to the finish to facilitate removal of the tab.

  • Patent number: 5908130
Abstract: An opening and closing device of a gasoline tank cap is disposed between an upper cap and a base of the tank cap, and includes a valve, a valve cap controlling the valve to rotate to let its valve hole communicate or not with an upper opening of the upper cap. Thus, the tank cap is not needed to be taken off completely for pouring gasoline in the tank. So filling gasoline in the tank is quite convenient, saving time, and preventing the tank cap from being lost by frequent removing for pouring gasoline in.

  • Patent number: 5906288
Abstract: A cover for plastic pails having a dispensing closure adjacent the cover periphery which allows unimpeded flow of liquid from the pail. An anti-glug vent device is integrally molded in the cover diametrically opposite from the dispensing closure to permit surge free, controlled pouring. A vent panel is disposed in the central top wall of the cover bounded by a cutting zone of reduced cross section and a hinge connection to the cover. An axially disposed actuating lever extends upwardly from the central area of the vent panel. To activate the vent for smooth pouring, the cutting zone is cut with a knife or punctured with a screw driver allowing the vent to open by pushing the actuating lever away from the cutting zone causing the vent panel to pivot about the hinge connection. To reclose the vent, the pivoting action on the actuating lever is reversed causing the cutting zone on the vent panel to become frictionally engaged within the resulting opening in the pail cover.

  • Patent number: 5899349
Abstract: A cap assembly for use with a centrifuge container includes a stopper (plug) member to provide a fluid-tight seal of an open end of the container. The stopper member includes a channel therethrough. A lid receives the combination of a stopper fitted into the open end of the container. Depending portions on the underside of the lid press upon the stopper to ensure a reliable seal of the container. In addition, the depending portions are adapted to close off an opening of the channel when the lid and stopper are assembled. Removal of the lid opens the channel allowing air to flow into the container, and in this way any vacuum that develops in the container during a centrifugation run is released by such action.
