Abstract: Volatile impregnated substrates, such as wicks and mats, that can be used in a dispensing device that uses a heat source or otherwise uses active means to promote the release of the volatile material from the substrate are disclosed. The preferred substrate has a structure including sand particles adhered together by a binder to form a network of pores and passages. The binder is selected from thermoset polymeric materials and mixtures thereof. A volatile material is disposed in the pores before the substrate is installed in the dispensing device. The impregnated substrate is positioned in the dispensing device on or near the heat source of the dispensing device. The heat source is activated thereby elevating the temperature of the substrate such that volatile material is released from the pores. In one embodiment, the sand particles comprise silica sand and the binder is a cured novolac resin.

Abstract: The present invention utilizes the pre-sporulation (preconidial) mycelial stage of entomopathogenic fungi as insect attractants and/or pathogens. The fungus can be cultivated on grain, wood, agricultural wastes or other cellulosic material, attracting the insect and optionally introducing insect-specific pathogenic fungi. More than one fungus and substrate can be used in combination. The matrix of preconidial fungi can optionally be dried, freeze-dried, cooled and/or pelletized and packaged and reactivated for use as an effective insect attractant and/or biopesticide. Attractant extracts of the preconidial entomopathogenic mycelium are disclosed.
Abstract: A soothing anti-viral lotion composition and a lotioned tissue product having a surface with the lotion composition applied thereto, and methods for making and using the same. The lotion composition includes an anti-viral organic acid and a topical delivery system. The topical delivery system includes one or more polyesters which allow incorporation of the organic acids into the lotion formulation, controls their delivery, and maintains them in the stratum corneum. The lotion composition may optionally contain a surfactant, an irritation inhibiting agent, and other additives.

Abstract: A method and composition for controlling fossorial rodents are disclosed. The composition is a mixture of water, a foaming agent and a respiratory irritant. The respiratory irritant is preferably finely ground white mustard seeds. The mixture is aerated through a nozzle and pumped into the rodent burrow to exterminate the resident rodent.
Abstract: One or more agricultural active ingredients (such as fungicides or insecticides) are entrapped in polymeric matrixes to form particles having a diameter in the range from about 0.2 to about 200 microns. The composition protects the structure by application either to the structure or to a pathway that leads to the structure. Advantageous polymer systems include polyurethanes rich in urea linkages and predominating in aliphatic and alicyclic backbones.

Abstract: A composition including a bait and a borate is used to mitigate a population of target insects and/or mollusca. The composition may include attractive by-products of agriculture and manufacturing with or without semiochemicals or biopesticides prepared as point source units (such as pellets or microcapsules). The by-products attract insects and/or mollusca to a food source for the purpose of mitigating the target organism. The bait is combined with borates and is pelletized and/or encapsulated into micron size particles. The pelletized and/or encapsulated particles are broadcast (spread) over areas infested with the target insect. The insects ingest the composition and regurgitate the composition to the remainder of the insect population. Significant mitigation of the population of the target insects results with little to no effect on the environment. The composition is also passed on to the next generation due to cannibalism of the target insects.
