  • Patent number: 10412326
Abstract: A global shutter imaging pixel may have a single source follower transistor. The source follower transistor may be coupled to a floating diffusion region and a charge storage region. In order to read out samples from the charge storage region without including a second source follower transistor in each pixel, the samples may be transferred to floating diffusion regions of adjacent pixels. Alternatively, a transistor may be configured to transfer charge from the charge storage region to the floating diffusion region of the same pixel, thus reusing a single source follower transistor. These types of pixels may be used for correlated double sampling, where a reset charge level and integration charge level are both sampled. These pixels may also operate in a global shutter mode where images are captured simultaneously by each pixel.

  • Patent number: 10382687
Abstract: At a processor of a camera-equipped electronic device, a first data set generated at a sensor incorporated within a camera module is obtained, and a second data set generated at one or more sensors external to the camera module is obtained. Based on the first set and second data sets, a first set of control signals is transmitted to the camera module. At a disturbance rejection controller integrated within the camera module, a second set of control signals is generated, based on the first set of control signals and on a third set of data obtained from the sensor incorporated within the camera module. The second set of control signals is transmitted to an actuator, which causes a displacement of a camera lens.

  • Patent number: 10368013
Abstract: A camera system captures an image in a source aspect ratio and applies a transformation to the input image to scale and warp the input image to generate an output image having a target aspect ratio different than the source aspect ratio. The output image has the same field of view as the input image, maintains image resolution, and limits distortion to levels that do not substantially affect the viewing experience. In one embodiment, the output image is non-linearly warped relative to the input image such that a distortion in the output image relative to the input image is greater in a corner region of the output image than a center region of the output image.

  • Patent number: 10334152
Abstract: A method for acquiring an image comprises acquiring a first image frame including a region containing a subject at a first focus position; determining a first sharpness of the subject within the first image frame; identifying an imaged subject size within the first image frame; determining a second focus position based on the imaged subject size; acquiring a second image frame at the second focus position; and determining a second sharpness of the subject within the second image frame. A sharpness threshold is determined as a function of image acquisition parameters for the first and/or second image frame. Responsive to the second sharpness not exceeding the first sharpness and the sharpness threshold, camera motion parameters and/or subject motion parameters for the second image frame are determined before performing a focus sweep to determine an optimal focus position for the subject.
