  • Patent number: 7430100
Abstract: A buffer circuit having enhanced overvoltage protection includes core buffer circuitry couplable to a first voltage source having a first voltage level. The core buffer circuitry is configured to receive a first signal and to generate a second signal which is a function of the first signal. The buffer circuit further includes a protection circuit coupled between the core buffer circuitry and a signal pad. The protection circuit is operative: (i) to clamp the first signal to about the first voltage level when a third signal received at the signal pad exceeds the first voltage level by a first amount; and (ii) to generate the first signal being substantially equal to the third signal when the third signal is less than or substantially equal to the first voltage level.

  • Patent number: 7336456
Abstract: An objective is to detect a resolver malfunction without fail, using a low-cost resolver having the small number of the poles, and a control-motor system having advantage in small sizing and high-power outputting. In the control-motor system, the system for driving a 2m-pole motor based on a rotor rotation angle ? detected by a 2n-pole resolver, where m and n being counting numbers, is characterized in that: the sum of the square of a signal modulated by sin ? and the square of a signal modulated by cos ? in the resolver in which an excitation signal generated in said system is modulated by sin ? and cos ? in response to the rotor rotation angle ? of the resolver is compared to a predetermined malfunction threshold value, so that malfunction determination related to the resolver is performed, and also, given that the sum is a2 when the resolver is recognized to be in normal operation, the malfunction determination threshold value is made to be not smaller than {a×cos((?/2)/(m/n))}2.

  • Patent number: 7307359
Abstract: An operation device capable of securely identifying whether an operation is performed by a driver or by a passenger on a front passenger seat are provided. In the periphery of a multidirectional input portion and switch input portions of an operation switch unit provided on a console between a driver seat and a front passenger seat of a vehicle and at diagonal positions relative to the multidirectional input portion and the switch input portions, identifying sensors which detect an approach of a hand of an operator are respectively provided, and an operation control unit which identifies the operator by outputs from the identifying sensors and is provided.

  • Patent number: 7285872
Abstract: A method to prevent unauthorized use and/or access to a vehicle is disclosed. The method includes apparatus which is positioned within a known motor housing and actuable only within the motor housing. In one embodiment, an ignition generator coil interrupt circuit is provided and mounted directly within the housing of the motor. A switch is connected to the circuit which allows power interruption to the ignition generator coil. When the switch is activated, power interruption of said ignition generator coil is achieved to disable the engine from normal operation. Conveniently, the interrupt circuit is positioned entirely within the housing and therefore inaccessible for tampering. In another embodiment a switch circuit is positioned between an ECM motherboard and sensors typically associate with an automobile engine. This circuit is useful for arrangements which do not include a magneto/stator arrangement.
