Abstract: Methods and systems for capturing and displaying multiple-angle imagery of physical objects are presented. With respect to capturing, multiple images of an object are captured from varying angles in response to user input. The images are analyzed to determine whether at least one additional image is desirable to allow generation of a visual presentation of the object. The user is informed to initiate capturing of the at least one more image based on the analysis. The additional image is captured in response to second user input. The presentation is generated based on the multiple images and the additional image. For displaying, a visual presentation of an object is accessed, the presentation having multiple images of the object from varying angles. The presentation is presented to the user of a mobile device according to user movement of the device. The user input determines a presentation speed and order of the images.

  • Patent number: 8855466
Abstract: A device has an input circuit to receive a stream of video data, which includes intra-frames (I-frames) and inter-frames. A video frame parser separates the I-frames and inter-frames from the stream of video data. A memory device has a file system thereon, and a processor is configured to process the video data. The processor stores the I-frames in an I-frame file in a contiguous memory region of the memory device and stores the inter-frames in an inter-frame file of the memory device. The processor also stores an index file, which includes information to coordinate a pre-parsed position of each I-frame with at least one adjacent inter-frame.

  • Patent number: 8839110
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method that receives the addition of a video clip to a composite video project. The video clip has a sequence of video images at a first frame rate and the composite video project has a second frame rate for outputting video images. When the first frame rate does not match the second frame rate but is within a threshold of the second frame rate, the method generates output video images for a particular duration of the composite video project at the second frame rate by using each of the video images of the video clip once during the particular duration. When the first frame rate is not within the threshold, generating output video images for the particular duration of the composite video project at the second frame rate by using at least one of the video images for each output video image over the particular duration.

  • Patent number: 8761571
Abstract: First position information indicating a position is acquired at a first time. Second position information indicating a position is acquired at a second time that is later than the first time. The first position information and the second position information are compared to determine whether or not a reproduction apparatus is moved. Information is stored in a recording medium in a first mode if it is determined that the reproduction apparatus is moved and the information is stored in the recording medium in a second mode different from the first mode if it is determined that the reproduction apparatus is not moved. The first mode is a reproduction mode having functions for use in reproduction more restricted than the second mode.

  • Patent number: 8737824
Abstract: A system and method for optimizing a compound prediction setting for a media stream and signaling the compound prediction setting is disclosed. A rate distortion optimization using the prediction modes of a compound prediction setting is carried out, and the rate distortion result is extrapolated to different compound prediction settings, without having to process each compound prediction setting separately. The optimal compound prediction setting is selected, and an element is encoded into the bitstream indicating the compound prediction setting that is used. A gradual mode coding scheme is used to minimize the bandwidth cost, and preserve the bandwidth savings of the compound prediction mode.

  • Patent number: 8660401
Abstract: The present invention relates to an information processing device, an information processing method, a playback device, a playback method, and a recording medium, which enable the same information to be added to pictures corresponding to a basic stream and an extended stream to be used for display of a 3D image. At the time of encoding, Picture Timing SEI to be added to each picture of a Base view video stream, and Picture Timing SEI to be added to each picture of a Dependent view video stream are generated so that a Picture Timing SEI set to be added to the corresponding pictures represents the same content. The present invention can be applied to a playback device compatible with the BD-ROM standard.

  • Patent number: 8532462
Abstract: A method, system, apparatus, article of manufacture, and computer program product provide the ability to non-destructively generate a file based master. A domestic source (having domestic audio and video content) with textless content (have portions of the domestic source that is devoid of text) is obtained. A localized source (e.g., localized audio-video) based on the domestic source is received. The localized video is compared to the domestic source to determine differences. The localized video is bladed and realigned with the domestic source. Metadata (of the differences) is transposed onto the domestic source. Texted portions in the domestic source are obscured with corresponding portions of the textless content. Texted material (based on the localized video and texted portions) is created. The localized video content and the textless content are discarded.

  • Patent number: 8488943
Abstract: Systems and methods for editing an MP4 multimedia container without transcoding are disclosed herein. Editing operations can be accomplished by transforming data included in the multimedia container rather than by transforming raw data streams and then reconverting to MP4 (or another) file format. In response to a target range that identifies a portion of the media content to maintain, a corresponding sample range in terms of the MP4 format can be constructed and data outside that range can be discarded, e.g., from the mdat atom and the sample tables atom(s).

  • Patent number: 8472783
Abstract: In various embodiments, a recording and playback manager of a digital video recorder (DVR), set top box, receiver or other device stores and accesses statistics in a statistics file related to average distances between reference frames (e.g., intra frames or I-frames) within blocks of the video data of the recording. Accessing these statistics during playback enables the system to more accurately locate reference frames to display while executing the playback in a trick mode such as fast forward, rewind or skip. The average distance between reference frames for a particular block of video data may be used to jump from one reference frame to the next reference frame in that block during playback in trick mode.
