  • Patent number: 4655323
Abstract: An elevator, especially an oblique elevator, has a plurality of telescopic sections, along which a load container is movable. The telescoping of the sections takes place in such a manner that all the telescopic sections move simultaneously in relation to one another, or in such a manner that, as a given telescopic section extends, it takes with it all those arranged after it, as a "pack". For the purpose of locking in any desired position of extension a locking/unlocking device is provided between each pair of adjacent telescopic sections. This locking is effected by the actuation of a draw cable attached to the lowermost telescopic section, the draw cable acting upon an actuating cable which effects the locking or unlocking. The actuating cable runs in tackle block manner around two cable guides, and is shortened or lengthened by the variation of spacing of two cable guides.

  • Patent number: 4643337
Abstract: A dispenser for viscous materials such as toothpaste is disclosed. The dispenser comprises an elongated container having a spout at its upper end and a rockable finger actuator operable to dispense contents when depressed. The actuator is connected to an elongated operating rod which is coupled to a follower by means of a spray clutch which causes the follower to move upwardly in the container in increments in response to rocking motion of the actuator. The lower end of the operating rod is connected to a base member having a resilient portion and a peripheral recess which receives the lower end of the container. The resilient portion of the base member pulls the operating rod downwardly for repositioning the same after each stroke of the actuator, and the operating rod pulls upwardly on the base member to securely mount the same to the container.

  • Patent number: 4638886
Abstract: An apparatus for disabling an obstructed lift mechanism having at least two hydraulic cylinders for controllably lifting and lowering a load includes a pair of valves, each arranged for sensing the differential pressure between a first sensing line and a second sensing line. The first valve is movable to a position for preventing the flow of hydraulic fluid from a first cylinder when the pressure in the second sensing line exceeds that in the first sensing line by a first predetermined value. The second value is movable to a position for preventing the flow of hydraulic fluid from the first cylinder when the pressure in the first sensing line exceeds that in the second sensing line by a second predetermined value. If the flow of hydraulic fluid from the first cylinder is prevented by the movement of either the first valve or the second valve, the operator is required to lift the load slightly to remove the obstruction.

  • Patent number: 4635832
Abstract: In a method of casting a metal melt from a metallurgical vessel, in which the metal melt is covered by a slag layer, into another metallurgical vessel, the metal melt is guided through a casting tube, which covers the casting jet between the vessels. In order to reliably ascertain the passage of slag through the casting tube with very little expenditure, magnetic fields are induced in the casting jet by two coils peripherally surrounding the casting tube. The difference of the inductivity variations caused in the two coils by the eddy currents produced by the magnetic fields in the casting jet is continuously measured and compared to a least one limit value and casting is interrupted in case the limit has been exceeded or fallen short of.

  • Patent number: 4620615
Abstract: Traction enhancement for a traction elevator system has an elevator car and counterweight connected by a plurality of wire ropes reeved about a drive sheave with a predetermined angle of wrap. An arcuate frame having a plurality of rollers has one end pivotally and adjustably fixed, while its other end biases the rollers against the ropes in the angle of wrap with a tension spring. • Patent number: 4601366
Abstract: A down valve (1) consists of a sealing spool device (6) which in its closed position separates a pressure chamber (3), which is connected with the elevator hydraulic cylinder (9), from a return flow chamber (5). The sealing spool device (6) includes a sealing plug (32) which seals off the two chambers (3 and 5) and a metering plug (33) which is intended for the connecting of the two chambers (3 and 5). The return flow orifices (51) are governed by a control edge (57). The metering plug (33) is influenced toward a given position relative to the sealing spool (6) by pressure in a positioning chamber (44) against the force of a compensating spring (56) such that the return flow orifices (51) are choked down. The operating pressure present in the pressure chamber (3) is fed through the pressure sensing orifice (46) to the positioning chamber (44).

  • Patent number: 4600083
Abstract: An x-y positioning device in which a cable or chain is used to drive a carriage, powered by two motors. The same cable that moves the carriage also constrains the angular orientation of the moving mechanism. In so doing, the moving parts can be made lighter and less expensively, while providing improved dynamics. All is advantageously applied to large, flat-bed plotters, to a computerized engraver, to a large sign painter, or to an elevator.

  • Patent number: 4600086
Abstract: An elevator hoist apparatus of the type disposed in the bottom of a hoistway has an improved structure for securing the apparatus to the wall of the hoistway. The apparatus also comprises an improved hoist drum having multiple parallel rope grooves formed in the drum so as to spiral around the drum in the same direction from one end of the other to the other. The load acting on the main ropes wrapped around these grooves is thereby equalized, increasing the safety of the apparatus. Furthermore, the ends of the main ropes are secured to the drum so that the main ropes are reliably secured even when there is no tensile force acting on the main ropes.
