Abstract: A recovery workflow is part of an automated management service for bare metal hosts allocated for single-tenant operation in a multi-tenant environment. The health of the hosts is monitored using a set of health criteria. If it is detected that one of the host machines fails a health check then a host recovery workflow can be initiated. As part of the workflow, the failed host can be repurposed or retired. A spare host class can be used to obtain a new host to take over for the failed host. Once deployed, the operation of the new host can be tested. Upon passing the test, the new host can take over for the failed host. A new host resource can be automatically requested to be added to the spare host class in order to ensure that there are sufficient resources available in case of an additional failure.
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provides a method and an apparatus for synchronizing viewing angles in Virtual Reality (VR) live streaming. The method comprises: determining transmitting user's viewing angle information corresponding to image frames in a process of playing VR content on a transmitting device side; and providing the image frames in the VR content and the transmitting user's viewing angle information corresponding to the image frames to a VR receiving device such that, when displaying the VR content, the VR receiving device is configured to determine, based on the transmitting user's viewing angle information corresponding to a current image frame to be displayed and a preset number of preceding image frames, a display angle for the VR receiving device to display the current image frame to be displayed.
Abstract: Techniques are described herein for generating and modifying formal network topology models, and deploying network topologies based on the formal models across multiple workload resource domains. A topology deployment system may receive modification data for a deployed network topology, and analyze the modification data to determine whether the associated formal network topology model is to be recomputed. In some examples, modifications to a deployed network topology that do not impact operational performance or compromise functional equivalence with the underlying logical model, need not trigger a recomputation of the network topology model immediately and could be delayed. Modifications to deployed network topologies that do not trigger recomputations of the formal network topology model may be stored and tracked, so that subsequent recomputations of the model may incorporate the pending modifications.
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a process that analyzes image content of an immersive video frame and identifies a first group of segments of the immersive video frame based on the analysis. The segments collectively span an entire space portrayed by the immersive video frame and the first group of segments spans less than the entire space. A size of a display region of an immersive video viewer is determined that spans less than the entire space and a second group of segments is determined based on the first group of segments and the size of the display region. Transport of the second group of segments, spanning less than the entire space, is facilitated via a communication network to the immersive video viewer for presentation, without requiring transmission of all of the segments. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: In order to allow an access to the Internet, and therefore to a remote server, for a device having no connection with an Internet gateway, a method to transmit a message from a first device to a remote server, the first device having no connection with the remote server, the method including detecting a second device by the first device, establishing a communication channel between the first and the second device, transferring the message from the first to the second device, the message including an address of the remote server, transferring, by the second device, the message to the remote server using the remote server address contained in the message.
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer media for monitoring software application usage are provided herein. Using a local, time-interval-based approach, valuable information can be obtained for application providers without collecting or exposing user's personal data. Application usage data for a user is recorded and stored locally, on a client device, in conjunction with time intervals of different duration. After new application usage is recorded, it can be determined, based on comparison with the stored application usage data, if an application usage update is needed. The update can be generated by and sent from the client device to a remote application management system, and the remote system can perform analytics and improve the application as a result.

Abstract: Image transformation for use in a hybrid distribution architecture with improved performance characteristics is provided herein. The hybrid distribution architecture provides content to clients via a dual source system using a central cloud service and a Content Distribution Network, which uses the cloud service as its source. A client that requests a new rendition of an image provided by a chosen source of the hybrid distribution architecture will have that request handled by the source, and the source may maintain that rendition for future provision. By allowing the client to choose the source and letting that source handle the request, rather than requiring a central service hand the request, the amount of data needed to be transmitted is reduced and the speed of provision of content, modified or not, is improved for the client.

Abstract: System and computer-implemented method in a cloud architecture including a mixed network having local objects in a local network and external objects in an external network, wherein the external objects are accessed through proxy communications, uses a proxy inventory to determine whether a connection from a first computing object to a second computing object should be excluded from a proxy. The connection from the first computing object to the second computing object is performed based on the determination.

Abstract: A method for managing progressive and adaptive streaming of digital content within a multimedia stream player terminal connected to a communication network, the digital content being associated with a description file of the digital content, which includes a list of time segments of the content each associated with several encoding bit rates or qualities of the content. The method implements: obtaining a connection speed to the communication network determined from a size and a streaming time of at least one already streamed time segment, and selecting, for at least one subsequent time segment to be streamed, a maximum quality of the content, depending on the connection speed and a ratio, called a gain factor, between an actual encoding bit rate of the already streamed time segment and the quality associated with the time segment in the description file.

Abstract: Aspects discussed herein relate to systems, apparatuses, and methods to identify, in near real-time, points of interest of viewers of a content item concurrently being transmitted in a linear stream to the viewers. A point of interest may refer to a segment of the content item that caused a surge in user reactions. During a subsequent transmission of the content item, identified points of interests may be displayed to the viewer. The viewer may select the point of interest in the content item to begin playback of the point of interest in the content item. Further, a playlist of points of interest in one or more content items may be generated for playback of the points of interest to a viewer.

Abstract: There is provided a method for managing file transmission. A file transmission method includes receiving, by a file transmission system, a request for transmitting a file to a reception side from a transmission side, setting transmission paths for transmitting the file via data centers present between the transmission side and the reception side, determining a splitting reference used for splitting the file into a plurality of fragments for the respective transmission paths, and individually transmitting the file fragments split according to the splitting reference along the transmission paths. Since files are split into a plurality of fragments and the fragments are simultaneously transmitted to several networks in a distributed manner, security may be strengthened and a bandwidth may be temporarily expanded, remarkably enhancing a transfer rate.
Abstract: In an embodiment, a computing node includes a computing circuit, a comparing circuit, and an indicator circuit. The computing circuit is configured to receive each of at least one input-data message. The comparing circuit is configured to compare each of the at least one received input-data message to a list of input-data-message identifiers. And the indicator circuit is configured, for each of the at least one input-data message that corresponds to a respective input-data-message identifier, to generate a respective portion of a first status message, the respective portion indicating that the input-data message was received. For example, such computing node can determine the congruency of a received input-data message between coupled redundancy circuits with reduced processing overhead, reduced message delay, and reduced message latency as compared to existing computer nodes.
