  • Patent number: 9766681
Abstract: A method is provided for each router to individually manage retransmissions at run time in a single chip computer die or a single computer that includes cores or compute nodes and routers that interconnect the cores or the compute nodes. Each router compares static energy saving and dynamic energy increase from turning off a retransmission buffer of the router in a monitoring phase. When the static energy saving is greater than the dynamic energy increase, the router turns off the retransmission buffer in a subsequent monitoring phase. When the static energy saving is less than the dynamic energy increase, the router turns on the retransmission buffer in the subsequent monitoring phase.

  • Patent number: 9763192
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for adjusting a sleep schedule of a wireless device in a wireless network. A mobility of a wireless device may be determined to exceed a threshold mobility. The wireless device may be operating in a sleep mode with a discontinuous reception schedule having listening intervals separated by sleep periods. A source access node may request to handover the wireless device to a target access node and may provide information to the target access node regarding the determined mobility and the determined sleep mode before handover completion. The target access node may then initiate wireless communication with the wireless device during a listening interval previously scheduled by the source access node. After the initial communication with the target access node, the wireless device may resume the previously determined sleep mode in order to optimize power use of the wireless device.

  • Patent number: 9756654
Abstract: Embodiments include starting a first timer if a queue state associated with a user equipment (UE) is estimated to equal zero bytes of data and if a last buffer status report received from the UE indicated the queue state to be greater than zero bytes of data, sending a control message granting uplink resources to the UE if the first timer expires, and determining the queue state associated with the UE based, at least in part, on a response to the control message. In specific embodiments the first timer expires if neither a scheduling request nor a buffer status report is received during a first timer interval after the first timer is started. Further embodiments include stopping the first timer if a scheduling request or a buffer status report is received before the first timer expires.

  • Patent number: 9755774
Abstract: A device may determine a link master/slave relationship for an Ethernet link associated with a connection between a component of the device and a component of another device. The device may determine that Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) is to be enabled on the Ethernet link. The device may identify the component of the device as a SyncE slave or a SyncE master associated with enabling SyncE on the Ethernet link. The device may provide an indication that the component of the device has been identified as the SyncE slave or the SyncE master. The device may determine a SyncE master/slave relationship associated with enabling SyncE on the Ethernet link. The SyncE master/slave relationship may supersede the link master/slave relationship without altering the link master/slave relationship. The device may cause the component of the device to recover a clock based on the SyncE master/slave relationship rather than the link master/slave relationship.

  • Patent number: 9743397
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for graph-based distributed parameter coordination in a communications network. In general, discrete local parameters to be coordinated among communication nodes in the communications network and their respective performance metrics, or costs, are modeled using a factor graph. Based on the factor graph, a variant of a sum-product algorithm, namely the min-sum algorithm, is applied in order for the communication nodes, through iterative message passing of reduced size messages with their neighboring communication nodes, to decide upon optimal values for the local parameters for the communication nodes that collectively optimize a global performance metric across the communications network. In one embodiment, the communications network is a wireless communications network. In one specific embodiment, the wireless communications network is a cellular communications network.

  • Patent number: 9742701
Abstract: An apparatus for operating a low data-rate (LDR) link and legacy switch at a high data-rate (HDR) includes a first block and a second block. The first block receives input signals from the legacy switch and generates identical output signals. The second block receives the identical output signals and generates an HDR signal for communication over the LDR link coupled to an access point. Further, a media access control (MAC) interface communicates data at a first data rate with an Ethernet PHY block including a first-in-first-out (FIFO) module and a buffer. The FIFO receives data from the MAC interface at the first data rate and transmits data at a second data rate. The buffer receives data from the Ethernet port at the second data rate and transmits the received data at the first data rate in response to detection of an end of packet.

  • Patent number: 9736704
Abstract: A system and method for providing an overlay network is provided. The overlay network comprises a database of underlying wireless networks provided by various carriers. Location information, an associated time and wireless network performance parameters of a plurality of wireless networks are collected from a plurality of client devices. The system and method aggregates the performance parameters based on geographic area and a time window. The performance parameters are analyzed to determine a best performing wireless network within each geographic area during the time window. The best performing wireless network is then assigned as a default wireless network for the geographic area during the time window and stored in the database defining the overlay network. The database is then provided to the plurality of client devices to provide a default wireless network for the plurality of client device to attach to when in that geographic area during the time window.
