  • Patent number: 10129163
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for processing and using TCP packets to communicate RTP packets are described. Head of line blocking is avoided by operating a TCP packet processing module to output RTP packet data to an application irrespective of whether or not a preceding TCP packet was received. Since output of packet data to an application using RTP packets is not delayed when there is a missing TCP packet, head of line blocking is avoided. RTP packet data is subjected to pattern matching in order to identify and process RTP packets in the case where RTP header information such as packet length information is missing due to the failure to receive a TCP packet. The methods are particularly well suited for the communication of audio and/or video by devices operating behind firewalls which block UDP or other types of packets other than TCP packets.

  • Patent number: 10063487
Abstract: In one embodiment, a packet switching device determines that a packet matches one of a plurality of predetermined patterns, however, this matching may produce a false-positive match of one of the underlying rules corresponding to the plurality of predetermined patterns. In one embodiment, determining the packet matches one of the plurality of predetermined patterns includes determining a first pattern match of a packet when each particular portion of a plurality of different portions of the packet is found to be matching a corresponding particular pattern portion by performing a table lookup operation based on the particular portion as an address in a corresponding different current portion-iteration table to retrieve a corresponding partial result. In one embodiment, the first pattern match is filtered using a second validation technique for removing false-positive first pattern matches. In one embodiment, the second validation technique includes using hashing.

  • Patent number: 9992705
Abstract: Techniques are presented that ensure Quality of Service (QoS) for Wi-FiĀ® calling and other Internet Media Services (IMS) when a user connects from a carrier-operated public Wi-Fi network to an IMS. A first packet including a domain name system (DNS) request received from a wireless mobile device via an access point is intercepted at a networking device. A network address of a collocated gateway device associated with the networking device is sent to the wireless mobile device in response to the DNS request. A second packet is received from the wireless mobile device including the network address of the collocated gateway to establish a network communication via the collocated gateway device. First QoS parameters associated with the network communication are received from the collocated gateway device and a notification message is sent to the access point, the notification message including the first QoS parameters.

  • Patent number: 9992125
Abstract: Technologies for high-speed data transmission including a network port logic having a communication lane coupled to a physical medium dependent/physical medium attachment (PMD/PMA) sublayer, a physical coding sublayer (PCS), and a media access control (MAC) sublayer. The communication lane receives serial binary data at a line speed such as 25 gigabits per second. The PMD/PMA converts the serial binary data into parallel data, and the PCS decodes that parallel data using a line code also used for a slower line speed such as 10 gigabits per second. The network port logic may include four independent communication lanes, with each communication lane coupled to a dedicated PMD/PMA, PCS, and MAC. The network port logic may also include a multi-lane PCS and multi-lane MAC to receive and transmit data striped over the four communication lanes. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
