Abstract: A media guidance application is provided by which users can view program listings associated with programming that the user may access using other user equipment devices. The media guidance application, implemented on, for example, a remote system, may determine through communications with television equipment whether or not the television equipment is authorized to provide a particular package of television programming to be viewed by the user. For example, an online program guide application may determine whether or not television equipment allows a user to view particular channels and, based on that determination, proceed to determine what packages of programming the user subscribes to. A customized program guide may then be displayed based on what programming the user subscribes to on various systems.

Abstract: A communication network device facilitates communication between devices and/or applications in a network without requiring each device to register with every other device or application. The communication network device may generate and assign a unique identifier to each device or application upon registration and store a role of the device or application (e.g., sender or receiver or both) in addition to capability and compatibility information. The communication network device may then dynamically broker and manage communications from each of the devices or applications to other devices and applications in real-time. Using a communication network device, communications may be directed to devices or applications without requiring a sending device to know of the recipient's network address. Additionally, the communication network device allows for the direct targeting of communications to specific applications.

Abstract: A method is performed using a smart TV, which receives from a television signal source device a television signal feed encoding primary television content and then presents that content. The smart TV receives data via the computer network, including first data representing a to-be-replaced portion of the primary television content and second data representing secondary television content. Using the second data, the smart TV automatically presents the secondary television content in place of the to-be-replaced television content.

Abstract: An exoscope with enhanced depth of field imaging is provided. The exoscope includes first and second sets of optical devices, the first set having a fixed image plane, the second set having a variable image plane adjacent the fixed image plane of the first set. The second set includes at least one variable device configured to change the position of the variable image plane. A beamsplitter splits light from a combined optical path of the first and second set to respective image devices of the first and second set of optical devices. A controller controls the at least one variable device to change the position of the variable image plane relative to the fixed image plane, combines images acquired by the respective image devices, and controls a display device to render a combined image.

Abstract: A system is provided for publishing a disparate live media output stream manifest that includes media segments corresponding to key events. A live production and playout system of disparate sub-systems is synchronized to a reference clock. A timecode from the reference clock is used as a reference time to log content related to key events that occur within the live production and playout system. A live event logging system is synchronized to the reference clock same as the live production and playout system. Based on location of the live event logging system, a time offset is introduced to compensate for a delay. When delay is variable, the reference clock is decoded from a live input stream to associate each key event with a corresponding timecode. Based on a programming schedule comprising the key events that occurred in the live input stream, the disparate live media output stream manifest is published.

Abstract: A television and system and method for providing a remote control device are disclosed. In one embodiment of the television, the television includes a processor, a memory, a tuner, a panel, and an audio driver therein in an interconnected architecture. The television may establish a pairing with a proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device, such as a proximate wireless-enabled interactive handheld device having a touch screen display, whereby formatted parallel audiovisual experience instructions, including virtual buttons, may be transmitted to the proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device for display on the touch screen display to create an experience parallel to the experience on the television. The television receives and processes virtual remote control functionality input instructions from the proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device to control amenities associated with the television.

Abstract: A wireless communication connection system enables an electronic device to perform Wi-Fi connection using a mobile terminal and to facilitate liking to the mobile terminal. The wireless communication connection system includes a mobile terminal connected to a wireless communication network, and an electronic device to perform, when receiving wireless communication connection information from the mobile terminal, the wireless communication connection based on the received wireless communication connection information. The electronic device displays an authentication manner, receives the wireless communication connection information from the mobile terminal when the mobile terminal is authenticated in the authentication manner, and is connected to a wireless communication network the same as the wireless communication network connected to the mobile terminal.

Abstract: An image display device, a lip-sync correction method thereof, and an image display system thereof are proposed. The lip-sync correction method of the image display device includes: receiving an audio delay measurement command from a user; transmitting an audio detection command to a remote control device and outputting a pre-stored test signal to an external speaker; calculating an audio delay value by comparing an audio signal received from the remote control device with the test signal; and correcting a decoding time stamp of an image signal on the basis of the audio delay value. Accordingly, it is possible to match lip-synching of video and audio in response to various external audio outputs or external audio devices.

The holographic display includes an electrically addressable spatial light modulator (EASLM); a diffractive optical element (DOE) mask array arranged on the EASLM; and a controller configured to operate the holographic display to form a hologram image, wherein the controller is further configured to address the EASLM to backlight the DOE mask array required to form a set of hologram image voxels by turning on a corresponding EASLM pixel.

Abstract: A machine detects a set of first control operations and, in response, causes a display screen to present a graphical interface in which a central window suggests first content by presenting a first preview and a first identifier superimposed on the first preview. The machine then detects a second control operation that indicates dismissal of the first content. In response to the second control operation, the machine causes the display screen to present a transition to an interest-improved version of the graphical interface. The transition includes sliding the first preview, the first identifier, a second preview, and a second identifier together in a shared direction and at a shared speed within the central window. The second preview and the second identifier correspond to second content. In the interest-improved version of the graphical interface, the central window suggests the second content by presenting the second preview and the second identifier.

Abstract: A method for direct video broadcasting to video host, via a mobile device, including allowing the video host to initiate an audio communication with a user, via the user's mobile device; allowing the user, via the mobile device, to accept the initiated audio communication from the video host; providing, in response to the user accepting the initiated audio communication, audio communication between the user and the video host; and allowing, in response to the user accepting the initiated audio communication, the user to capture video, via the mobile device, and upload or stream the captured video to the video host, wherein the video host is enabled to engage in audio communications with the user, as the captured video is being captured, and wherein the audio communication is separate from the audio associated with any video being captured.

Abstract: A system is provided for publishing a disparate live media output stream manifest that includes one or more media segments corresponding to key events. A start and stop time is obtained for a pre-produced media asset from a live playout system synchronized to a reference clock. Based on a reference time of the reference clock and play events from the live playout system, a normalized event metadata is converted from a play time of pre-produced media asset metadata to the reference time. The play events exists for the pre-produced media asset as start and stop times per the pre-produced media asset support inclusion of non-programming content and restart of the pre-produced media asset during a playout. Start and end messages are transmitted for publishing the normalized event metadata each time the pre-produced media asset is started and stopped during the playout in a disparate live media output stream.

Abstract: A system and method to execute, via a graphical user interface of a video player, playback of video content including a cue object corresponding to an item. An overlay is generated within the display, wherein the overlay includes an interactive portion configured to receive a user interaction associated with the cue object. A user interaction corresponding to the cue object is received via the interactive portion of the overlay. In response to the user interaction, a transaction associated with the item is processed.

Abstract: System and methods are described for generating one or more viewable highlight playbacks, such as, for example, a viewable highlight playback including highlights of a sporting event that may be viewed essentially on demand. The system and methods transform raw digital media data associated with the event to a playback instruction signal including key highlights of the event to be viewed over a predetermined time period while capturing an essence of the event. The system and methods allow control of a viewing of the viewable highlight playback utilizing, at least in part, the playback instruction signal.

Abstract: A system and method for management of bandwidth shared by a plurality of video content encoders is provided. A management service coordinates an unequal allocation of available bandwidth among a set of encoding nodes. The management service can receive measured bandwidth attributes from a plurality of encoding nodes to determine a total available bandwidth. The management service can then allocate the available bandwidth based by applying allocation criteria that can include performance criteria, financial criteria or other prioritization criteria. The management service can then transmit the allocated bandwidth to the encoding nodes.
