  • Patent number: 10791292
Abstract: A high dynamic range imaging pixel may include a photodiode that generates charge in response to incident light. Charge from the photodiode may be coupled to a voltage supply and discarded or transferred to a charge storage region such as a storage diode. Alternating between discarding and integrating charge enables flicker mitigation. When the generated charge in the charge storage region exceeds a first charge level, the charge may overflow through a first transistor to a first storage capacitor. When the generated charge exceeds a second charge level that is higher than the first charge level, the charge may overflow through a second transistor. The charge that overflows through the second transistor may alternately be coupled to a voltage supply and drained or transferred to a second storage capacitor for subsequent readout. Diverting more overflow charge to the voltage supply may increase the dynamic range of the pixel.

  • Patent number: 10750078
Abstract: The image-capturing apparatus communicates with an accessory apparatus using a clock/communication request channel and first and second data communication channels. The camera controller switches its communication method between a first communication method in which data communication is performed while a clock signal is alternately switched between first and second levels and a second communication method in which data communication is performed in response to a communication request from the camera controller to the accessory apparatus, which is output by switching a signal level of the clock/communication request channel from the first level to the second level. The camera controller, in response to detecting a communication error in the first and second communication methods, transmits to the accessory apparatus through the second data communication channel a specific signal for restoring the communication while keeping the signal level of the clock/communication request channel at the first level.

  • Patent number: 10701294
Abstract: An image sensor may include an array of image sensor pixels. Each image sensor pixel in the array may be a global shutter pixel that includes first transistors and second transistors that are substantially larger than the first transistors. The second transistors may receive row control signals from peripheral row drivers formed at the edge of the array. Each pixel may further include local driver circuits interposed between the peripheral row drivers and the second transistors. Each local driver circuit may include a pull-down transistor for driving a row control signal low and a pull-up transistor for driving the row control signal high. Each local driver may optionally be shared among two or more adjacent pixels in a given row. The local drivers help reduce the total capacitive loading at the output of the peripheral row drivers and can therefore help improve row driver performance and minimize integration time.
