Abstract: An online system receives a video-presentation request from a third party system. The video-presentation request comprises a video and a target audience specification for the video. The online system selects a plurality of users as the target audience of the video based on the target audience specification. From the target audience, the online system generates a sample subset of users and determines a sampled video reach count for the subset of users. A sample user who, as determined by the online system, would have viewed the view for at least a threshold duration, is included in the sampled video view count. The online system estimates a total video reach count for target audience by extrapolating the sampled video reach count for the subset of users to the target audience. The total video reach count can be used to determine a parameter for presenting the video on an online system.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for grouping users into user clusters based on common behavior patterns, and then recommending content to the users based on their respective membership in the clusters. Some embodiments operate by receiving tracking data for a user, where the tracking data includes content viewing behavior information of the user, and/or user interface (UI) navigation behavior information of the user. A distance between the tracking data and a cluster profile associated with a user cluster is determined. If the distance satisfies a threshold associated with the user cluster, then the user is added to the user cluster. Thereafter, the user's view experience is customized based the user's membership in the user cluster.

Abstract: This document describes techniques using, and devices embodying, integral program content distribution. These techniques and devices enable a request for program content to be received from an end-user device. In response to the request, an integral version of the requested program content is determined using an indication of a program content transition that corresponds to an apparent broadcast time of the requested program content. The program content can be transmitted to the end-user device as part of a cloud-based digital video recorder (DVR) system.

Abstract: A message distribution technique permits individual subscribers to receive text messages from a broadcaster. The broadcaster uploads a text message to a central processing service where it may be redirected to a chat room associated with the broadcaster. In addition, a push notification is sent to all subscribers of a particular broadcaster to indicate the delivery of a text message from the broadcaster. The push notification may also contain a link that, when activated by the subscriber, initiates an associated software application program that navigates the subscriber directly to the chat room to view the text message. The text message may be generated and uploaded by the broadcaster without having to activate the software application. The push notification may also be received by subscribers without having to activate the software program. In one embodiment, the broadcaster can limit distribution of the video based on a geographic restriction.

Abstract: The present technology relates to a transmission apparatus, a transmission method, a reception apparatus, and a reception method which can easily obtain a mosaic screen. Metadata of content is distributed, and the metadata is described using an attribute and an attribute value and includes signaling information indicating that a video is a thumbnail video suitable for constituting a mosaic screen, and the attribute indicating information to refer to a file including information to receive content supplied by a service. The present technology can be applied when, for example, content is to be distributed.

Abstract: Media content presentation systems and methods are operable to present media content received by a media device, wherein the media device comprises a plurality of tuner systems. An exemplary embodiment tunes the plurality of tuners to receive different broadcasting media content streams each comprising a streaming media content event; communicates the streaming media content events from the receiving tuner to a corresponding tuner buffer of the tuner system; and stores a portion of the streaming media content events into the corresponding tuner buffers. When a user selection is received for presentation of one of the streaming media content events, the selected one of the streaming media content events are presented to a user of the media device.

Abstract: A distributed network for producing consensus, featuring methods comprising: playing, by an Exchange Player, a set of individual speaker videos created by an Exchange Recorder, wherein the set of individual speaker videos comprise an Exchange between a plurality of speakers; displaying, by a user interface of the Exchange Player, replies to the current speaker video as a vertical list of thumbnails overlaying a side of the Exchange Player user interface; and providing, by a user interface of the Exchange Player, the ability for users to rate speaker videos to indicate their level of agreement with the speakers, and for their ratings to be used to measure audience consensus with speaker videos at various levels, including post, thread, and conversation.

Abstract: A method of modifying the output of an output device is provided. A first code, associated with a first recipient party, is received and used to generate, within the output device, a second code, the second code containing encoded data identifying the first recipient party and instructions for activating an additional functionality of the output device. The additional functionality is activated in accordance with the instructions contained in the second code. The output of the output device is modified according to data encoded in the second code, to encode a third code in the output of the output device, the third code including an ID code associated with the first recipient party.

Abstract: An interactive clothes and accessories fitting method, a display system and a computer-readable recording medium thereof are provided, where the method includes the following steps. While the user is wearing a first apparel, images of the user are continuously captured by using an image capturing device to generate a first image sequence, wherein each first image that forms the first image sequence respectively corresponds to a different pose of the user. While the user is wearing a second apparel, images of the user are continuously captured by using the image capturing device. When a second comparison image corresponding to a specific pose of the user is captured by the image capturing device, a first comparison image corresponding to the specific pose is searched from the first image sequence, and the first comparison image and the second comparison image are simultaneously displayed on a screen.

Abstract: Provided are systems, methods, and computer-program products for identifying a media content stream when the media content stream is playing an unscheduled media segment. A computing device may receive a plurality of media content streams, where at least two of the plurality of media content streams concurrently includes a same unscheduled media segment. The computing device may determine that the media display device is playing the unscheduled media segment by examining the media content available at the current time in each of the plurality of media content streams. The computing device may determine identification information from the media content included in the media content stream. The computing device may determine contextually-related content, which may be disabled while the unscheduled media segment is being played by the media display device. The computing device may display the media content stream and the contextually-related content after the unscheduled media segment has been played.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed toward locally generating a replacement spot beam signal to be combined with other orbital television signals, where the replacement spot beam signal is generated from locally received over-the-air television signals. Over-the-air television signals are received at a user's premises via an over-the-air antenna and orbital signals are received at the user's premises via a satellite antenna. The orbital signals include a spot beam signal and other orbital signals. The spot beam signal is specifically generated for the geographical area associated with the over-the-air television signals. One or more available local channels are extracted from the over-the-air television signals and are converted into the replacement spot beam signal that is a satellite-compatible signal. The replacement spot beam, instead of the original spot beam signal, is then combined with the other orbital signals and provided to a content receiver.

Abstract: Techniques are described for allocation hardware and/or bandwidth resources of a viewer device between a live streaming media content playback of a video player and a concurrently provided live chat. For example, the bandwidth used by the live chat can be adjusted based on the playback of the video player.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed which detect a change in the status of a multimedia asset in a multimedia delivery system, and take steps to make the multimedia asset available after the status change. The multimedia asset can then be locally recorded on the user's digital video recorder (DVR) before the status changes. Alternatively, the user can be directed to an equivalent asset, for example, video-on-demand (VOD). The user may also receive a notification, which can be displayed on a TV or computer monitor or send to a remote device, for example to a mobile phone as an email or a short message. The user may be able to purchase the asset and/or initiate recording the asset. The status can be, for example, an expiration date of an asset, or a change of the source or format of an asset.

An example method for calculating, via a processor, granular data of a region includes determining aggregate behavioral data associated with a media audience measurement of a target region. The example method includes determining, via the processor, aggregate demographics data of the target region. The example method includes determining, via the processor, granular data of a source region. The example method includes calculating, via the processor, granular data of the target region to measure a media audience of the target region by apportioning the aggregate demographics data and the aggregate behavioral data of the target region based on the granular data of the source region.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for automatically generating a shoppable video. A video is parsed into one or more scenes. Products and their corresponding product information are automatically associated with the one or more scenes. The shoppable video is then generated using the associated products and corresponding product information such that the products are visible in the shoppable video based on a scene in which the products are found.

Abstract: To enable a reception side to easily secure a display continuity when video data having a frame rate switched part is distributed. Video data having a switched part from encoded image data of a first sequence to encoded image data of a second sequence having a different frame rate from the first sequence is generated. The video data is encoded in a manner that a display end timing of a last picture of the encoded image data of the first sequence is set to a same timing as a display start timing of a first picture of the encoded image data of the second sequence.

Abstract: Provided are a method and an apparatus for transmitting metadata in a WFD. More particularly, a WFD source transmits, to a WFD sink, a first transmission stream in which an audio stream and a video stream are superimposed and multiplexed. The WFD source receives, from the WFD sink, a first RTSP request message for requesting transmission of metadata for audio data and video data during the transmission of the first transmission stream. The WFD source transmits, to the WFD sink, a first RTSP response message in response to the first RTSP request message during the transmission of the first transmission stream. The WFD source transmits, to the WFD sink, a metadata stream including the metadata and a second transmission stream in which the audio stream and the video stream are superimposed and multiplexed.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of processing a sequence of image frames to reduce its length. One implementation may involve extracting coefficients (e.g., Discrete Cosine Transform coefficients) from components of individual frames, and comparing the resulting coefficients for sequential frames to identify frames having the least change from a prior frame. Also, scene change values for each frame may be calculated and placed in a sorted list to facilitate identification of frames for removal. Frame removal may be conducted in rounds, where a group of pictures (GOP) may only have one frame removed for any given round.

Abstract: Example embodiments facilitate user-initiated transitioning between versions of media content. In an example embodiment, a content access device receives a first version of a plurality of versions of a media content item via a communication network from a media content source, and causes presentation of the first version via a display device. During the receiving of the first version, the media content device receives a first request for a second version of the media content item. In response to the first request, the content access device transmits a second request to the media content source to begin receiving the second version. After the transmitting of the second request, the content access device receives the second version for display beginning at a point in the second version related to a point in the first version last received from the media content source.

Abstract: Examples of systems are described herein in which an item of content may be delivered to multiple devices within a group of devices at the same time while reducing bandwidth consumption. Such systems may also allow for attractive pricing and features that may encourage more users to consume the item of content.
