Abstract: Various arrangements for providing a multichannel viewing event are presented. A definition of the multichannel viewing event may be broadcast to multiple television receivers. A television receiver may, as part of an electronic programming guide, provide a single-selection option to activate the multichannel viewing event based on the broadcast definition. In response to receiving user input that selects the single-selection option, the definition of the multichannel viewing event is accessed. One or more tuners of the television receiver may be tuned based on the television channels defined in the definition of the multichannel viewing event. A video stream that includes live feeds of multiple television channels may then be output to a display device for simultaneous presentation.

Abstract: Systems and processes that incorporate teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving from a mobile device, by way of a cellular network, a request for delivery of high-bandwidth application service. A location of the mobile device can be obtained and used to determine availability of any nearby wireless packet-network services. If it is determined that a wireless packet-network service is available, a network connection between the mobile device and the wireless packet-network service can be established. The request for delivery of high-bandwidth services can then be forwarded to an application server that delivers the requested services by way of the wireless packet-network service. Abstract: Multimedia systems and related methods and devices are provided for recommending media programs to a user. Viewing characteristics of the user are determined based on usage information detailing preceding viewing sessions for the user. In one or more embodiments, the user's current interest in one or more currently available media programs that originated after the user's preceding viewing session is predicted based on the user's viewing characteristics and the current viewing context, and media programs having the highest predicted current interest are indicated to the user as being recommended.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for determining a level of user engagement based on user interactions. A media guidance application is configured to retrieve a first record of a first plurality of user inputs, including input type, received during consumption of a media asset. A second time interval, prior to the first time interval, is selected by shifting the first start time and the first end time. A second record of a second plurality of user inputs received during the second time interval, including input type, is retrieved. A first media asset consumed during the first time interval and a second media asset consumed during the second time interval are determined, and the level of user engagement for the first media asset is determined based on the first record and the second record.

A device-agnostic request to obtain a video stream is received from an application executing on a client device, the device-agnostic request including a universal resource identifier (URI) for the video stream, the URI including a type of the video stream and at least one of a name of the video stream and device-specific parameters for the video stream. The URI is analyzed to identify a media device from which the video stream is available. A device-specific library for the media device is identified. A device-specific request corresponding to the device-agnostic request is executed to obtain the video stream, the device-specific request including the URI. The video stream is received from the media device responsive to executing the device-specific request. The video stream is provided to the application.

If the streaming broadcast is live, or at least has not ended, an opportunity exists for the audience to collaborate with the broadcaster and/or contribute to the broadcast. Such can be accomplished by annotating the presentation of the video broadcast with an object that, when selected, facilitates transmission of a video feed associated with the audience member to the broadcaster. The broadcaster can receive and include this video feed into the video broadcast.

Abstract: Graphics are preferably superimposed on uncompressed image data received from an external device to be transmitted to another external device. An AV amplifier 12 inserted on an HDMI transmission path between a BD player 11 and a television receiver 13 superimposes the graphics on the transmitted uncompressed image data. At that time, the AV amplifier 12 receives dynamic range conversion definition information of the uncompressed image data and generates graphics image data on the basis of the dynamic range conversion definition information to superimpose, thereby displaying the graphics with desired luminance even when dynamic range reverse conversion is performed by the television receiver 13.
