Patent number: 5627342Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved grommet for protecting wires and tubes that must be placed thru apertures in building panels or studs made of steel or the like. The grommet disclosed here includes a single piece, soft plastic body having any configuration, (e.g. polygonal, round, oval, semi-circle, or even polygonal with curved edges) which is flanged along its periphery. On one side of the outer surface of grommet body's wall are arranged one or more protruding, male nubs which securely hold, in the gap formed between the wall flange and said male nubs, the rims of the aperture in a metal stud.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1995Date of Patent: May 6, 1997Inventor: Hy Kramer

Patent number: 5627343Abstract: A cable re-entry assembly for feedthroughs and the like is provided. The preferred embodiment includes an expansion mandrel positionally secured on the conduit with a heat shrinkable locking ring, a transition boot with a heat shrinkable sleeve portion and a rigid body portion which couples to a feedthrough nut, and a sealant between the conduit and the sleeve. Upon re-entry and re-use of the assembly, the mandrel mechanically expands the sleeve, when the sleeve is re-heated above its crystalline transition temperature, the expansion mandrel is translated against the sleeve and both the conduit and expansion mandrel are withdrawn from the sleeve. Following repair, the conduit is reinserted into the dimensionally unstable sleeve which is then heated to shrink about and reseal the conduit.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1994Date of Patent: May 6, 1997Assignee: XL Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Henry E. Patent number: 5623122Abstract: A breakaway connection device is provided which is particularly suited for use with residential electric service cables. This device is mounted between the service cable and the service pole and serves to disconnect the cable from the pole upon the application of a predetermined level of tension or force to the cable. That level of force is selected so that the service cable breaks away from the pole and de-energizes the conductive wires before the service cable would pull away from and damage the dwelling. This device includes an insulated sheath having therein two hollow wire receiving elements which are separably joined by a conductive insert, formed as a solid rod or threaded member.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1994Date of Patent: April 22, 1997Assignee: Donald W. Patent number: 5623126Abstract: A terminal assembly is provided which is easy to assemble and disassemble. The assembly features male and female ceramic elements that interconnect and provide a passageway into which a terminal equipped with forward and rearward tabs is placed. After the terminal is positioned in the passageway, the forward tabs may be bent into a position at an angle to the terminal, thereby securing the terminal in place and holding the terminal assembly together. The male ceramic element is provided with a unique annular depression that reduces the amount of ceramic materials needed to make the assembly, while also providing the minimum surface spacing required by industry standards. In addition, the terminal assembly is provided with a v-shaped attachment element for conveniently attaching the assembly to a lead wire.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1994Date of Patent: April 22, 1997Assignee: Tutco, Inc.Inventor: Jimmy L. Patent number: 5619014Abstract: An electric busbar for use with an electrical power distribution busway system which includes a press formed plug-in tab configured for attachment to a connector at a power tap-off section of the busway is described. The busbar has a substantially rectangular cross-section, a length, a width defined by a pair of edges, and a thickness defined by a top side and a bottom side. The plug-in tab is formed by pressing the conductive material in a direction generally perpendicular to the top and bottom sides until material is displaced outwardly from at least one of the edges. Depressions are formed in the bar of conductive material at the location of the press formed tab. In the most preferred embodiment, the volume of the depressions is substantially equal to the volume of the material in the tab.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1993Date of Patent: April 8, 1997Assignee: Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc.Inventor: Nathan H. Patent number: 5614696Abstract: An environmentally sealed electrical connector for use with a load cell block. The connector includes a jacketed cable that extends through a pliable connector block. The connector block is injection molded directly around the cable to insure an environmental seal between the cable and the connector block. The connector block includes a cylindrical protrusion that extends downwardly into a passageway in the load cell block. A double-sided adhesive gasket is located between the load cell block and the connector to help form an environmental seal between the connector and the load cell block and to help attach the connector to the load cell block. The connector is attached to the load cell block using four fasteners that extend through a stiff pressure plate, the connector, and are received by holes in the side of the load cell. As the fasteners are tightened, a force is placed on the pressure plate, which in turn compresses the connector block into the load cell block, establishing an environmental seal.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1994Date of Patent: March 25, 1997Assignee: Structural Instrumentation, Inc.Inventor: Bryan R. Patent number: 5608187Abstract: The post insulator (6) has an insulator body (8), of cured cast resin, which can be subjected to a pressure medium, and at least one potted fitting (11) penetrating the insulator body (8) and subjected to high voltage. The metallic support body (12) has a lateral surface (15). The intention is to obtain a post insulator which is of simple structure and which is designed for comparatively high mechanical loading. This is achieved by providing the lateral surface (15) of the support body (12) with a bonding layer (13) which adheres better to the lateral surface (15) than the cured cast resin. The cured cast resin is cross-linked with the bonding layer (13).Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1994Date of Patent: March 4, 1997Assignee: ABB Research Ltd.Inventor: Leopold Ritzer
