  • Patent number: 8977343
Abstract: An optical probe and an optical imaging system include an optical guide, and an actuator having driving coils and a magnet. By supplying a driving current through the driving a magnetic flux is generated which causes a displacement of the distal end of the optical guide. A position measuring device includes a position measuring coil used for monitoring the position of the optical guide, where displacement of the guide distal end causes change in the relative positions of the measuring and driving coils. A power supply supplies a high frequency AC current through the driving coils which causes, an induced voltage in the position measuring coil and thus generates a magnetic coupling between the measuring and driving coils. This induced voltage change is indicative for the position of the distal end.

  • Patent number: 8864668
Abstract: Embodiments for forming elastic images in an ultrasound system are disclosed. In one embodiment, a Tx/Rx unit repeatedly transmits/receives an ultrasound beam along scan lines in a target object to output receive signals. An image processing unit forms a plurality of consecutive ultrasound images based on the receive signals and set a center of the target object on each of the ultrasound images. The image processing unit further sets radial scan lines in radial directions with respect to the center on each of the ultrasound image and reconstructs the ultrasound images such that the radial scan lines are in parallel with each other to form reconstruction images. An elastic image forming unit forms an elastic image based on the reconstruction images.

  • Patent number: 8852106
Abstract: A pre-memory 14 stores a plurality of sets of tomographic image data in a time-series order. A virtual period setting unit 22 calculates a virtual period relating to an object based on the tomographic image data stored in the pre-memory 14. A base image searching unit 24 searches for base images from the tomographic image data using the virtual period. A division basis setting unit 26 sets division bases according to the base images within an image string constituted of tomographic image data. A reconfiguration processing unit 20 uses the respective base images as boundaries for the division to divide the tomographic image data stored in the pre-memory 14 into a plurality of image groups. Then, data blocks of tomographic images which correspond to one another on a periodic basis are sequentially extracted from the respective image groups, and are stored in a post-memory 28.

  • Patent number: 8715191
Abstract: A new approach to processing and displaying received Doppler signals is disclosed. This approach starts with a set of N power spectra corresponding to each of N times. Those power spectra are then used to create of set of pixels for display with respect to an X axis and a Y axis so that the X coordinate of each pixel in the set corresponds to a time and the Y coordinate of each pixel in the set corresponds to a quantized power level. An attribute (e.g., color or intensity) of each pixel in the set is set to represent the highest velocity for the time-and-quantized-power-level combination that corresponds to the X and Y coordinates of each pixel in the set.

  • Patent number: 8676296
Abstract: A dual-echo sequence technique provided herein empowers simultaneous acquisition of both TOF MRA and BOLD MRV in a single MR acquisition. By this approach, an echo-specific K-space ordering scheme permits the adjustment of the scan parameters that are compatible for each of the MRA and MRV. The image quality in the MRA and MRV acquired by this compatible dual-echo arteriovenography (CODEA) technique is comparable to that for conventional, single-echo MRA and MRV. When the technique is integrated with MOTSA, seamless vascular connectivity is achieved in both MRA and MRV over a large area of brain anatomy. The technique will facilitate routine clinical acquisition and application of dual-echo MRA and MRV, as both MRA and MRV can be acquired with minimal impact on the image quality and without adversely affecting the scan throughput.

  • Patent number: 8577444
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for making correction information for correcting a guidance direction of an instrument. Based on a current position of the tip of the instrument and the current guidance direction of the instrument and the position of a target point in an object, a first straight line indicating the current guidance direction and a second straight line defined by the tip of the instrument and the target point in the object are determined. The second straight line intersects the first straight line and indicates the desired guidance direction. Based on the position of the first and second straight lines relative to one another, a digital item of correction information is specified, wherein the correction image has a correction diagram located in a plane in the perspective of the current guidance direction of the instrument.
