  • Patent number: 6695013
Abstract: An assembly for introducing a pipe liner into a branch line includes a launcher defining a passageway through which a resin impregnated pipe liner and bladder tube assembly passes. An inflatable member mounted to the launcher assembly is actuatable between an inflatable condition and a deflated condition. The pipe liner and bladder tube are secured in place by expanding the inflatable member outward against the inner surface of the branch line. Air pressure drives the bladder tube and pipe liner into the branch line. The bladder tube remains in place until the pipe liner hardens.

  • Patent number: 6695015
Abstract: An ultralow expansion brake rubber hose comprising an inner rubber tube, a first reinforcing layer, a second reinforcing layer and an outer rubber layer, wherein a thermosetting resin which penetrates the reinforcing fibers constituting the first reinforcing layer and which is cured at vulcanizing temperatures is cured by vulcanization to turn the first reinforcing layer into a solid cured layer. By turning the first reinforcing layer into the solid cured layer, the mutual slippage between the reinforcing fibers of the first reinforcing layer can be prevented, and a brake rubber hose having low expansion and excellent durability can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 6688338
Abstract: A system and method for providing secondary containment for pipeline transmission systems that complies with environmental regulations for double wall applications. The outer surface of the pipeline is adapted with an epoxy bonded multi-ply fabric that forms a secondary containment structure external to the pipe with first and second spaced layers forming an interstitial space therebetween. An external coating of cured epoxy resin provides resistance to impact, abrasion, and chemically induced corrosion and deterioration. Probes may be installed at various locations along the pipeline for continuously sampling the environment within the interstitial space thereby providing leak detection. Secondary containment is constructed on an existing section of, steel, iron, fiberglass, composite, metal alloys, or concrete pipe.

  • Patent number: 6684907
Abstract: A method and apparatus for conditioning loose-fill insulation including an elongated tubular cylinder having a plurality of internal blades positioned in a helical configuration. Large nodules of glass fibrous material pass through the conditioning cylinder and are combed into smaller, more uniform sizes, thus allowing a more uniform additive application further downstream in the manufacturing process. The addition of a tangential airflow to the conditioning cylinder facilitates the combing process by adding a tangential force to move the nodules down the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6679293
Abstract: A process for lining an existing pipeline or conduit with a flexible resin impregnated cured in place liner by pulling in the liner and inflating an eversion bladder with air and curing the liner with flow-through steam without loss of pressure is provided. The bladder is stored in a pressure bladder canister coupled to a pressurized downtube and eversion elbow. The bladder is everted by introducing pressurized air into the canister As the bladder reaches the distal manhole, it enters a receiving canister where it is punctured while maintaining air pressure within the bladder a pinch valve between the downtube and elbow isolates the inverted bladder so that steam can be introduced into the bladder to cure the resin and exhaust through the receiving canister. The bladder is then removed and lateral service reinstated.

  • Patent number: 6679296
Abstract: Sound attenuating ducting has an inner, helical wire supporting an inner and outer layer formed by strips of a foamed thermoplastic rubber material. Axial and helical reinforcing yarns extend along the ducting between the layers. The two strips are applied from extruders, the extrusion rate of the inner strip being set to be less than that of the outer strip so that the inner strip is stretched to produce a more porous structure than in the outer strip. In this way, the inner layer is efficient in absorbing orifice noise within the ducting and the outer layer contains radiated noise.
