  • Patent number: 11073450
Abstract: A filter arrangement with a top element and a bottom element and a filter element therebetween captures oversized particles on the upper surface of the filter element and tangentially rinses these particles using an elution fluid to provide a concentration of particles in a relatively low volume of fluid for further analysis. In an intermediate step, the particles captured by the filter may be rinsed with a rinsing fluid such as water to pass additional undersized particles through the filter, thereby providing a purer sample. To improve efficiency, check valves may be used for passageways with one-way flow. Additionally, a configuration of three-way stopcocks may also be utilized. Finally, a sandwich arrangement is possible, wherein a single bottom element is sandwiched between two opposing top elements.

  • Patent number: 11065565
Abstract: A filter component includes a cartridge portion including a filter media, and a plug assembly on which the cartridge portion is mounted and in fluid communication with the cartridge portion. The plug assembly comprises a first plug and a second plug, the first plug being larger than the second plug. The second plug is fixed to an inner surface of the first plug in an installed state and is removable from the first plug in a draining state. The first plug further defines a drain port, wherein in the installed state the second plug plugs the drain port and in a draining state the second plug is removed from the first plug to permit draining fluid through the drain port. The filter component may be incorporated into a hydrostatic transmission to permit controlled draining of fluid from the hydrostatic transmission that does not result in an oil mess.

  • Patent number: 11033837
Abstract: A feedwell design for a clarifier that may better dissipate the entrance energy of feed slurry liquid exiting the feedwell and entering the clarifier. Plates having a surface area twisted around a longitudinal axis may be provided at the bottom of the feedwell. The plates may cause a change in the flow direction of the feed, from being mostly horizontal to mostly vertical, to slow the slurry. The provision of plates at the bottom of a feedwell in a clarifier may advantageously reduce the velocity of the materials entering the clarifier, or may increase the uniformity of the flow rate of the materials while reducing or maintaining the amount of shear force, turbulence, or other forces that may have a detrimental effect on clarification. Likewise, this may improve the rate at which solids settle out of the feed slurry solution, and thus improve the clarity of the removed liquid.
