  • Patent number: 10444742
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a material recommendation apparatus includes an extractor, a creator, a matcher and a recommender. The extractor extracts information about a substance as a candidate for a material for an industrial product, a property of the substance, and a report time of the property from an electronic document. The creator creates, for each substance, time series data in which the property is associated with the report time. The matcher matches the time series data with a pattern. The recommender recommends, as the material, a substance corresponding to time series data that matches the pattern.

  • Patent number: 10417009
Abstract: Fast computer startup is provided by, upon receipt of a shutdown command, recording state information representing a target state. In this target state, the computing device may have closed all user sessions, such that no user state information is included in the target state. However, the operating system may still be executing. In response to a command to startup the computer, this target state may be quickly reestablished from the recorded target state information. Portions of a startup sequence may be performed to complete the startup process, including establishing user state. To protect user expectations despite changes in response to a shutdown command, creation and use of the file holding the recorded state information may be conditional on dynamically determined events. Also, user and programmatic interfaces may provide options to override creation or use of the recorded state information.

  • Patent number: 10394230
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relieve the burden on a product designer to setup simulations to validate a product design. These embodiments are directed to computer methods and systems for inverting a simulation process to validate a product design. The methods and systems configure a simulator with analysis methods. The methods and systems then provide product design parameters (operating environment conditions and design targets) that define scenarios likely experienced by a product in terms familiar to the product designer. The methods and systems, via the simulator, automatically determine simulations for validating the product design based on the provided product design parameters. To do so, the methods and systems map each of the design parameters to one or more analysis types, which are used by the simulator to select a sequence of analysis methods to define the simulations. The methods and systems execute the simulations to validate the product design.

  • Patent number: 10386916
Abstract: One embodiment provides a method for reducing leakage current in device logic having an operational supply-voltage threshold, a nonzero data-retention supply voltage threshold, and two or more on-die transistor switches to switchably connect a voltage source to the device logic. After the logic enters an idle period, one or more of the switches are opened to lower a supply voltage of the logic below the operational supply-voltage threshold but above the data-retention supply-voltage threshold. When the logic exits the idle period, one or more of the switches are closed to raise the supply voltage of the logic above the operational supply-voltage threshold.

  • Patent number: 10306844
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a networked irrigation system include a battery powered networked irrigation controller that communicates with a backend server. The backend server monitor rainfall at the location of the irrigation controllers via third party weather resources. General irrigation is set to commence once every several days, and when rain falls at the location of an irrigation controller, the watering schedule is shifted to ensure that watering does not occur more frequently than desired. The irrigation controller uses a cellular transceiver modem to communicate with the backend server, and since the irrigation controller is battery powered, the cellular transceiver modem is maintained in an off state until just prior to commencing a scheduled watering, when the irrigation controller contacts the backend server.
