  • Patent number: 7856347
Abstract: Simulation of models within a distributed environment is facilitated. A model is partitioned based on clock domains, and communication between partitions on different processors is performed on synchronous clock boundaries. Further, data is exchanged across the network on latch boundaries. Thus, management aspects of the simulation, such as management associated with the global simulation time, are simplified.

  • Patent number: 7853440
Abstract: Method for modeling acidification within a porous medium as a result of the injection of an acid. A dual-medium model is constructed, considering a first sub-medium favorable to dissolution breakthroughs and a second sub-medium not favorable to dissolution breakthroughs. For each one of these sub-media, a metric-scale description of the acid transport, of the sub-medium and acid mass conservation and of the acid transfer from one sub-medium to the other sub-medium is achieved. This dual-medium model is then initialized from experimental calibrations. Finally, acidification of the medium is modelled by means of this dual-medium model.

  • Patent number: 7853360
Abstract: A PWM signal on which a dither signal is superimposed is used for adjusting a central position when controlling a solenoid valve. To improve this type of control process in which the amplitude of the dither signal depends on the current of the solenoid valve and thus on the PWM signal, the PWM signal and the dither signal are generated in a computer unit independently of the power regulation process. Forming the signals separately has the advantage of generating a constant amplitude for the dither signal each time a triggering signal is generated for the solenoid valve such that the armature of the solenoid valve can oscillate specifically about the central position and thereof at constant small vibrations. This allows frictional forces to be reliably reduced and the solenoid valve to be switched more rapidly while the load on the main computer is reduced.

  • Patent number: 7848914
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for monitoring and viewing physical parameters while the emulator is emulating a design. Additionally, the parameters are in real time or substantially real time, such as after a periodic update. In one embodiment, a monitoring portion of the emulator periodically monitors the emulator boards and power supplies for physical information. The physical information is communicated to a workstation for communication to a user. For example, the workstation can display the physical information in a graphical user interface (GUI) that shows which boards are plugged in the system and which slots are empty. In yet another aspect, the user can select a particular board in the system and view communication information, such as data errors, status, link errors, global errors, etc.

  • Patent number: 7844436
Abstract: A method and localization unit for localizing load coils within a transmission line. The load coil localization is achieved using a measurement of a Single-Ended Line Testing (SELT) parameter for the transmission line and an approximation of the SELT parameter obtained from a model of the transmission line. The model is based on a parameter vector ? including parameters describing the transmission properties of each load coil and cable section and the length of a plurality of individual cable sections as unknown independent parameters. The location of at least one load coil is determined by substantially minimizing a criterion function that represents a deviation between the measurement of the SELT parameter and the approximation of the SELT parameter obtained from the model. The load coil localization method and unit can be used for both symmetric and asymmetric transmission lines.

  • Patent number: 7840392
Abstract: Output feedback pole placement problems with parameter drift are solved with stabilizing solutions. Changes in system parameters trigger alerts in an automated manner. A representative method includes determining a set of solutions for an output feed pole placement problem, based on parameters of a physical system. The solutions are stable and well-conditioned for monitoring changes to the parameters of the physical system. The physical system is adjusted, or controlled, based on the solutions determined. Updated parameters of the physical system are acquired. A set of updated solutions for the output feedback pole placement problem are determined based on the updated parameters. The physical system is then adjusted, or controlled, based on the updated solutions determined. A system manager may also be notified of the updated parameters and/or the updated solutions. Furthermore, changes within the system may be monitored, and/or potentially critical changes within the system may be detected.
