Abstract: A global system model equation including model equations, which contain parameters, of individual components that form the global system. The parameters of the individual components are detected using sensor values from the sensors that are allocated to the individual components and it is determined whether it is possible to adapt the parameters to the sensor values and to solve the global system model equation.

Abstract: The analysis model generation unit generates an analysis model for use in an analysis by a finite-element method. A stress distortion analysis unit analyzes a stress and a distortion occurring in finite elements of a continuum by a load using the analysis model for each load cycle cyclically applied to the continuum by the finite-element method. An element damage evaluation unit evaluates a damage by the distortion on the finite elements of the continuum based on the analysis result for each load cycle. A crack growth display unit displays the growth of a crack occurring in the continuum based on a result of the evaluation of the damage.
Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, carrier media, and systems for creating a metrology target structure design for a reticle layout are provided. One computer-implemented method for creating a metrology target structure design for a reticle layout includes simulating how one or more initial metrology target structures will be formed on a wafer at different values of one or more parameters of one or more fabrication processes that will be used to form a metrology target structure on the wafer based on the one or more fabrication processes, one or more parameters of the wafer, and one or more initial metrology target structure designs. The method also includes simulating one or more spectra that will be produced by a predetermined metrology system configuration for each of the simulated one or more initial metrology target structures. In addition, the method includes creating the metrology target structure design based on the one or more spectra.
Abstract: A method for stimulating wheel electronics systems of single tires of at least one tire group in a motor vehicle. The wheel electronics systems are stimulated with a low frequency trigger signal, as follows: a trigger signal is emitted from an LF trigger to the wheel electronics systems of the relevant tire group at a variably adjustable first transmission field strength. Radio frequency signals are transmitted from those wheel-side wheel electronics systems, at which a sufficiently high transmission field strength of the trigger signal has arrived containing an item of trigger information, to a vehicle-side receiving unit. A determination is made of the number of RF signals received by the vehicle-side receiving unit, each containing one item of trigger information.

Abstract: Techniques to performing sub-configuration of components of an entity. In one method, the entity is configured via a parent model and each sub-configurable component is configured via one of a number of sub-models. Initially a selection to configure a particular sub-configurable component of the entity is received, and a sub-model for the selected component is identified. One or more values for one or more features of the selected component are received (e.g., from the parent model or via the sub-model) and form a configuration for the component, which is then validated based on the associated sub-model and the received values. Configuration of the entity is also validated based on the parent model and the validated configuration for the selected component. Feedbacks may be provided for each configuration of the parent model and sub-models. The data for the parent model and sub-models may be localized or globalized.

Abstract: An orthodontic treatment planning system is described that models the effects of torque losses within an orthodontic archwire-appliance system when computing a predicted final occlusion for a dental arch. The treatment planning system models engagement of the archwire with the orthodontic appliances at each appliance position along the length of the archwire. The treatment planning system iteratively determines the twist angle of the archwire at each appliance position along the length of the archwire and incrementally adjusts the orientation and the position of each tooth based on the determined twist angles until the twist angle at each position along the archwire is within a defined tolerance of zero. When the twist angle at each position along the archwire is within a defined tolerance of zero, the archwire is relaxed and a 3D representation of the computed final occlusion of the dental arch may be displayed.
Abstract: A computer determines a subsequent state of a steel volume, based on an instantaneous initial state of said steel volume and at least one volumetric surface, the temporary influence quantities acting on said steel volume, by resolution of an equation of thermal condition and phase change. The states include for at least one volumetric element of the steel volume, a local distribution in concentration of a alloy element mobile in the steel, the local proportions of the modeled phases of the steel and a quantity describing a local energy content of the steel. The phases include austenite and another phase, generally, ferrite or cementite. In the context of the change equation, the concentration levels of the mobile alloy element, which are located on either side of the phase boundary, between the austenite and the other phase are determined by resolution of a Stephan problem.

Abstract: A system and method for coordinating timing between simulation of a system and measurement and/or control of the system. A measurement/control loop comprising a measurement/control program, a simulation program, and an execution coordination kernel is described. The simulation program may be operable to simulate any of various types of systems. The measurement/control program may provide measurement/control logic for measuring various variables associated with the simulated system. The execution coordination kernel is responsible for coordinating the execution and time advancement of the measurement/control and simulation programs. The execution coordination kernel may be operable to intercept I/O calls produced by the measurement/control program and the simulation program. If the execution coordination kernel determines that the system is in simulation mode, the calls may be routed to software routines instead of to the I/O hardware.
Abstract: A global software development model instrument is described. The instrument utilizes a global system dynamics model, as well as one or more site-specific discrete event simulation and system dynamics models to model interactions within and between software development sites. Parameters, equations, and interactions between the model components are editable to allow for the simulation and comparison of various software development options and to provide for global software development research. Additional product development situations can be modeled as well, including hardware and systems engineering.

Abstract: When an integrated displacement amount of the particles constituting a contact candidate pair is equal to or more than ΒΌ (one-quarter) cell or more, likelihood becomes high that the particles of the contact candidate particle pair, which was not in contact with each other, would come into contact with each other. Then, in such high likelihood, data relating to contact candidate particle pairs are updated. With this arrangement, even if contact candidate particle pair data updating is decimated and part of contact determination is accordingly omitted to increase a computing speed of the contact determination, accuracy of simulation will not be reduced. Thus, according to the present invention, the computing speed of the contact determination can be increased without lowering the accuracy of simulation.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for positioning a feeder needle, and to a production line for optical components, in which a feeder needle of an apparatus for portioning fluid material, preferably softened glass, in particular of a needle feeder, has its position relative to a seat for the feeder needle recorded by means of a force-measuring device, and to further apparatuses which realize this method and to objects produced by the process.
Abstract: A trajectory of motion of the mechanical element is designed by using a three-dimensional curve, referred to as a three-dimensional clothoid curve, in which each of a pitch angle and a yaw angle in a tangential direction is given by a quadratic expression of a curve length or a curve length variable. A trajectory of a machine tool or a contour shape of a workpiece is expressed by using a three-dimensional curve, referred to as a three-dimensional clothoid curve, in which each of a pitch angle and a yaw angle in a tangential direction is given by a quadratic expression of a curve length or a curve length variable to control motion of the machine tool based on the three-dimensional curve.

Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for creating a load balanced spatial partitioning of a structured, diffusing system of particles with pairwise interactions that is scalable to a very large number of nodes and has favorable communications characteristics including well defined bounds on the number of hops and the number of nodes to which a particle's position must be sent. To deal with structural imbalance, a weight is assigned corresponding to the computational cost for a particular pair interaction of particles or locally clustered groups of particles to simulation space at the midpoint of the distance between the particles or centers of the clusters. A spatial partitioning of the simulation volume is then carried out using a k-d tree or optimal recursive bisection (ORB) to divide the volume into sections that have approximately equal total weights.
