  • Patent number: 9042888
Abstract: A mobile wireless device maintains a radio sector database. When receiving no response or a negative response from a radio sector to a transmitted signaling message, the mobile wireless device adds or updates the radio sector database. When receiving a positive response from the radio sector, the mobile wireless device deletes the radio sector from the radio sector database. Before transmitting signaling messages to a radio sector, the mobile device determines a time delay value if the radio sector is in the radio sector database. The mobile wireless device discards the signaling message when an elapsed time since a most recently transmitted signaling message to the radio sector does not exceed the determined time delay value. In an embodiment, each radio sector in the radio sector database includes a failure count value, and the determined time delay value depends on the failure count value.

  • Patent number: 9026160
Abstract: A method and system for priority handling of a dispatch call in a dispatch network is disclosed. A dispatch call request message from a mobile communications unit is received at a dispatch cell site. The cell site determines whether a DAP is configured for operation in a call request reject mode. The cell site determines a priority level of the mobile communications unit if the DAP is configured in the call request reject mode. When the priority level meets a defined threshold, the cell site forwards the dispatch call request message to the DAP and the DAP processes the dispatch call request message.

  • Patent number: 9020516
Abstract: A reference signal specific to each base station device and a reference signal specific to each mobile station device are not mixed within one OFDM symbol of a resource block, and OFDM symbols including the reference signal specific to each mobile station device are arranged at regular intervals on a time axis. By using such a signal arrangement pattern, it is possible to overcome the problems in Non-Patent Document 1 mentioned above caused by mixing a reference signal specific to each base station device and a reference signal specific to each mobile station device in one OFDM symbol. Thus, it becomes possible to prevent the reference signal specific to each base station device and the reference signal specific to each mobile station device from being mixed within one OFDM symbol of a resource block.

  • Patent number: 8934833
Abstract: A fast and efficient automated satellite constellation detection process can be implemented at least in part independent of in-band data in the satellite signal. The automated detection process iterates through a set of various predefined transponder settings to detect one or more accessible satellite constellations through each satellite dish connected directly or through a switch to a satellite receiver. The process determines whether the satellite receiver is able to lock onto a satellite signal at each transponder setting. Based on the combinations of which satellite constellations are available at each transponder setting, the process allocates a specific satellite constellation to each satellite dish. In one implementation, channel information can be used to further refine the detection and identification of accessible satellite constellations for each satellite dish.

  • Patent number: 8818443
Abstract: A femtocell base station collects the terminal distribution within the cell and selects terminals to represent the cell-center and the cell-edge from among the terminals within the cell. The femtocell base station also calculates maximum transmit power for the respective the cell-center and cell-edge terminals allowable by the macrocell base station. The femtocell base station sets the respective transmit power of the cell-center and the cell-edge in a range that will not exceed the maximum transmit power, adjusts the transmit power control parameter to allow control by the terminal at the power value that was set, and notifies the terminal. Communication with high throughput can in this way be attained for terminals in cells within the femtocell base station during uplink communications to the femtocell base station, and interference applied to the terminals in the macrocell base station can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 8805432
Abstract: The transmission power is decreased in an appropriate manner, while suppressing the deterioration of the line quality to the minimum. A mobile communication terminal 1 controls the transmission power in response to a request given from a base transceiver station 2. When an average transmission power Wa that is an average value of the transmission power in a monitoring period Ta is smaller than a threshold value TH, mobile communication terminal 1 continuously controls the transmission power in response to the request given by the base transceiver station 2. When the average transmission power Wa in the monitoring period Ta is equal to or greater than the threshold value TH, the transmission power is controlled in a transmission power suppressing period Tb that follows the monitoring period Ta so that the average value of the transmission power becomes equal to or smaller than the threshold value in a control period Tc including the monitoring period Ta and the transmission power suppressing period Tb.

  • Patent number: 8798661
Abstract: A wireless device stores historical information for a prior access attempt and uses this information to lower the output transmit power for a current access attempt on an access channel. The historical information may include RF conditions for the prior access attempt, the performance for the prior access attempt, and a power value used for the prior access attempt. The power value may be a power adjustment or an initial power level. For the current access attempt, the wireless device obtains the historical information, determines the current RF conditions, and determines a power value for this access attempt based on the current RF conditions and the historical information. The wireless device determines the output power for each access probe based on the power value and other applicable parameters and sends each access probe at the determined output power. The wireless device updates the historical information upon completing the access attempt.
