Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, for changing digital broadcast channels. In one implementation, upon receiving a request for switching to a new channel in a digital broadcast receiving device, the device switches from a power saving mode, in which the device processes time-slices only for the currently selected broadcast channel, to a channel changing mode, in which broadcast data is buffered for more than one broadcast channels in anticipation of channel surfing. In another implementation, the user's perception of the channel change delay is mitigated by displaying channel information about the newly selected channel.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for receivers of digital broadband broadcast signals to determine a time of delivery and a version of a particular signaling table. The receiver is able to determine whether an update of the signaling table is needed based on factors such as whether the update applies (e.g., a DVB-H specific change for a mobile terminal in a DVB-H network). The receiver may power down while awaiting delivery of the signaling table (or utilize the radio for other purposes), powering back up in time to receive the signaling table.

Abstract: It is an object to prevent the image quality deterioration of a moving image likely to include a plurality of the same consecutive images such as 2-3 or 2-2 pulldown video due to the motion-compensated frame rate conversion (FRC) processing. An image displaying device is provided with an FRC portion (10) for converting the number of frames in an input image signal by interpolating an image signal to which a motion compensation processing has been given between the frames in the input image signal, a pulldown detecting portion (14) for detecting whether the input image signal is an image signal to which pulldown conversion has been performed, and a controlling portion (15).
Abstract: A display apparatus, equipped with a common input terminal inputting different video signals, can discriminate the type of an input video signal entered from the common input terminal. The display apparatus includes an input terminal inputting different video signals. A synchronizing signal separation unit separates a synchronizing signal from a video signal entered from the input terminal. A frequency measurement unit measures a frequency of the synchronizing signal. An input signal discrimination unit discriminates the video signal entered from the input terminal based on a type of the synchronizing signal separated by the synchronizing signal separation unit and a measurement result obtained by the frequency measurement unit.
Abstract: A front-end circuit according to the present invention includes a VCO which oscillates a local signal, a mixer which converts an RF signal Frf into a baseband signal, a DC offset cancel circuit which detects a DC offset contained in the baseband signal and then eliminates the DC offset, and a local frequency control circuit which controls a frequency of the local signal. In a case where the RF signal is an analog television signal, the local frequency control circuit controls the frequency of the local signal so that a frequency of the baseband signal differs from each frequency spectrum of a luminance signal contained in a video signal which is generated by demodulating the baseband signal. This makes it possible to provide the front-end circuit which can prevent video distortion caused when a frequency spectrum is eliminated from the luminance signal.

More specifically, the projection type display is provided with a two-image synthesizing unit for synthesizing two images obtained by processing an input image by two image rotation units for rotating the input image by a first angle and a second angle different from the first angle, into one image on a screen. The projection type display is also provided with an image rotation unit and an image inversion unit for two-image display on a screen.

Abstract: An apparatus for splitting a signal and a video device using the same are disclosed. The apparatus includes a first splitting unit to split an inputted broadcast signal into a first broadcast signal and a second broadcast signal, and to supply the first broadcast signal to a first broadcast signal processing element, and a second splitting unit to split the second broadcast signal into a third broadcast signal and a fourth broadcast signal, and to supply the third broadcast signal to a second broadcast signal processing element. With this construction, the apparatus can distribute and provide a broadcast signal with a noise figure (NF) lower than that of other broadcast signals, to an element, which requires a broadcast signal with a low noise figure. In addition, the apparatus can split the inputted broadcast signal without using an active element, such as an amplifier or the like, thereby allowing the split broadcast signals to lower the NF thereof and to uniformly maintain a gain thereof.
Abstract: A de-interlacing system includes a motion adaptive de-interlacer, a horizontal motion estimation device, a horizontal motion compensation device, a vertical motion detection device, a multiplexer, and a film signal detector. The film signal detector receives an input signal and decides whether the input signal is a video stream or a film stream to thereby select an output from the motion adaptive de-interlacer or the horizontal motion estimation and compensation device. Thus, a de-interlacing output has stable and smooth edges when a video stream is inputted, and the motion judder phenomenon is reduced when a film stream is inputted.
