Abstract: A television (TV) image adjusting method includes performing a variance calculation on luminance values of a plurality of pixels adjacent to target pixels of an image frame to generate a weight index; performing a decay function calculation according to the weight index to generate a weight distribution corresponding to the plurality of pixels adjacent to the target pixels. A function value of the decay function is inversely proportional to both the weight index and a target pixel distance between the target pixels and the plurality of pixels adjacent to the target pixels. The target pixel distance is a sum of vertical distances and horizontal distances between the target pixels and the plurality of pixels adjacent of the target pixels. The method further performs a weight calculation on the luminance values of the plurality of pixels adjacent to target pixels according to the weight distribution to generate an output luminance value.

  • Patent number: 8294771
Abstract: An image correction device includes an image capturing module, a first calculating module, a second calculating module, a third calculating module, and a correction module. The image capturing module includes an image sensor having a center (Xo, Yo). The image capturing module takes an image of a test chart. A center of the group of black stripes is coincident with a center of the image. The first calculating module is for calculating coordinates of a center of each black stripe of the group of black stripes. The second calculating module is for calculating coordinates (Xc, Yc) of the center of the image. The third calculating module is for calculating a coordinate deviation (?X, ?Y)=(Xc?Xo, Yc?Yo). The correction module is for inputting the coordinate deviation (?X, ?Y) into the image sensor so that the image sensor corrects the image according to the coordinate deviation (?X, ?Y).

  • Patent number: 8294494
Abstract: A charge-discharge circuit charges or discharges a capacitor having a fixed electric potential at one end. A first comparator compares an output voltage of the capacitor with a first threshold voltage and outputs a first comparison signal in accordance with a comparison result. An edge detecting circuit detects an edge of a synchronization signal input from the outside and having a frequency of about ½ of a triangular-wave signal generated by the triangular-wave generating circuit, and outputs an edge detection signal that will be at a predetermined level for each of the detected edges. A charge-discharge controller receives the first comparison signal that is output from the first comparator and the edge detection signal that is output from the edge detecting circuit, and switches between a charge state and a discharge state of the charge-discharge circuit in accordance with a level transition of these signals. A voltage of the capacitor is output as a triangular-wave signal.

  • Patent number: 8284322
Abstract: A shared memory video processor including signal processing circuitry. The signal processing circuitry may enable a noise reducer and a de-interlacer to share access to field buffers in a memory device to store various field lines. Some of the stored field lines may also be shared within the signal processing circuitry. The sharing of some stored field lines reduces overall memory bandwidth and capacity requirements. The signal processing circuitry may be capable of performing multiple field line processing. A set of field line buffers may be provided to store field lines for multiple field segments and may provide the data to the corresponding inputs of the signal processing circuitry. To further reduce storage, some of the field line buffers may also be shared among the signal processing circuitry.

  • Patent number: 8284307
Abstract: A system or a method that produces a similarity (or a differential) value that is used to indicate whether two video fields are either similar or not. The system or method assigns an index value to the current field based on the similarity (or a differential) value. The system or method determines how to process further the current field based on whether the assigned index value comprises an even or an odd number. The system or method processes the current field with the immediately preceding field if the current field's assigned index is an even number, and with the immediately following field if the current field's assigned index is an odd number. The system or method generates at least one output video frame that is at least twice the resolution of the current field being processed.

  • Patent number: 8269866
Abstract: An amplifier gain setting section estimates a light source parameter which relies upon a spectral distribution of an image pickup light source based on an image signal. Then, a first adjustment control value for each color signal when adjustment is to be performed so as to establish a white balance based on the estimated parameter is modulated by an amount corresponding to a follow-up sensitivity toward a second adjustment control value when adjustment is to be performed so that an achromatic subject under a particular reference light source is reproduced as an achromatic subject. The modulated adjustment control value is set to a white balance amplifier. The follow-up sensitivity is set to the amplifier gain setting section in response to an illuminance level estimated from a detection value of the brightness.
