  • Patent number: 9294651
Abstract: An image reading device includes: a CCD for reading an image on a document to output an image signal; a light source for switchingly emitting visible light and non-visible light; and lighting control means for controlling lighting periods of the light source. The lighting control means is adapted to perform control such that a first light source lighting period for applying non-visible light is longer than a second light source lighting period for applying visible light. The image reading device also includes splitting means for splitting the image signals outputted from the CCD into an image signal upon application of visible light and an image signal upon application of non-visible light.

  • Patent number: 9277092
Abstract: A configurable document server is described. In some embodiments, the configurable document server can enable administrators to set an option that prevents documents from being routed to users when the configurable document server experiences some types of errors. When the configurable document server determines that such an error condition exists, it may prevent the routing of the corresponding document. By preventing documents causing errors from being routed, the configurable document server enables administrators to improve the accuracy of document workflow and thereby improve productivity of users.

  • Patent number: 9244643
Abstract: There is provided a printing apparatus that can prevent a user from forgetting to set print settings and that can markedly reduce the number of unnecessary prints caused by unsuitable print settings, for example, in a case in which print data such as image data is sent from an image-supplying apparatus to the printing apparatus and in which the printing apparatus prints the print data. The printing apparatus, which receives print data from an image-supplying apparatus and prints the print data, need not start printing image data immediately after the image data is received. An input of print settings is accepted in the printing apparatus, and the image data is printed using the printing settings that have been input.

  • Patent number: 9233399
Abstract: A system and method for generating separations between jobs in a batch of scanned pages are provided. The method includes, for each of a set of jobs, capturing an image of a representative page of the job. Thereafter, the method includes scanning the set of jobs as a batch to generate a set of scanned pages. The captured images are compared with scanned pages in the set of scanned pages to identify, for at least one captured image, a respective scanned page which matches the captured image. At least one separator is generated for separating the set of scanned pages based on a location of the matching scanned page(s).

  • Patent number: 9176694
Abstract: Methods and systems begin when a printing device receives a print job. The methods and systems identify a document type within the print job using a processor of the printing device. The methods and systems also determine if the document type requires an audible alarm using the processor. The methods and systems print the print job using a printing engine of the printing device. If the document type requires the audible alarm, the methods and systems produce an audible alarm using a speaker of the printing device after the printing is complete.

  • Patent number: 9025197
Abstract: An optical scanning device which forms a plurality of scanning lines in parallel in a main scanning direction on a photosensitive member by a plurality of laser beams detects the curvature values in the sub-scanning direction of the scanning lines, and corrects a curvature value in the sub-scanning direction corresponding to each of the scanning lines. When detecting the curvature value, the optical scanning device detects the curvature values in the sub-scanning direction of two scanning lines, and calculates the curvature value in the sub-scanning direction of a scanning line between the two scanning lines based on the detected curvature values in the sub-scanning direction of the two scanning lines. With this arrangement, the curvatures in the sub-scanning direction of scanning lines are corrected effectively with high accuracy for all laser beams in a multi-beam optical scanning device using a VCSEL or the like.

  • Patent number: 9007605
Abstract: An image formation apparatus includes an image reading control unit and a print control unit. The print control unit includes: a first communication control unit connected to the image reading control unit; and a power supply control unit configured to control power supply to the image reading control unit. The image reading control unit includes: a second communication control unit connected to the first communication control unit. When completing a process to transition to a power save mode in accordance with an instruction from the print control unit, the image reading control unit cuts off the communications through the second communication control unit. After sending the image reading control unit the instruction to transition to the power save mode, the print control unit detects the cutoff of the communications and then cuts off the power supply to the image reading control unit through the power supply control unit.
