  • Patent number: 11484220
Abstract: A control console includes a first input control operable by an operator and outside of a field of view of the operator, a display within the field of view of the operator, and a first image capture device. The first image capture device acquires a first image of a physical environment surrounding the first input control and at least part of the first input control. The first image is output on the display. In some embodiments, a second image of a work site may also be displayed, so that the operator can locate and operate the first input control while continuously viewing the second image of the work site.

  • Patent number: 11478152
Abstract: Electrophysiology mapping and visualization systems are described herein where such devices may be used to visualize tissue regions as well as map the electrophysiological activity of the tissue. Such a system may include a deployment catheter and an attached hood deployable into an expanded configuration. In use, the imaging hood is placed against or adjacent to a region of tissue to be imaged in a body lumen that is normally filled with an opaque bodily fluid such as blood. A translucent or transparent fluid, such as saline, can be pumped into the imaging hood until the fluid displaces any blood, thereby leaving a clear region of tissue to be imaged via an imaging element in the deployment catheter. A position of the catheter and/or hood may be tracked and the hood may also be used to detect the electrophysiological activity of the visualized tissue for mapping.

  • Patent number: 11406472
Abstract: A C-arm, or a mobile intensifier device, is one example of a medical imaging device that is based on X-ray technology. Because a C-arm device can display high-resolution X-ray images in real time, a physician can monitor progress at any time during an operation, and thus can take appropriate actions based on the displayed images. Monitoring the images, however, is often challenging during certain procedures, for instance during procedures in which attention must be paid to the patient's anatomy as well as a medical imaging device display. In an example, a surgical instrument assembly includes a processor, a surgical instrument configured to operate on an anatomical structure, and a display coupled to the processor and attached to the surgical instrument.

  • Patent number: 11364009
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for electrically addressing multiple ultrasonic transducers that are connected to a common electrical channel and housed within an imaging probe. An imaging probe may comprise an imaging ultrasonic transducer and a moveable element for controlling the direction of an emitted imaging beam, and an angle sensing ultrasonic transducer, where the angle sensing ultrasonic transducer is configured for determining the direction of an ultrasonic imaging beam. The angle-sensing transducer may be configured to direct an angle sensing ultrasonic beam towards an acoustically reflective substrate and provide a signal by detecting a reflected ultrasonic beam reflected from the acoustically reflective substrate, where the acoustically reflective substrate is positioned relative to the movable element such that motion of the movable element produces a change in the signal.

  • Patent number: 11357479
Abstract: A method is disclosed for using a precision ultrasound scanning device to image the anterior segment of the human eye, automatically locate the scleral spur, and, using the scleral spur as a fiduciary, to automatically make measurements in front of and behind the iris. The scleral spur can be used as a fiduciary to make measurements that characterize the normal and abnormal shapes of components within this region of the anterior segment of the eye. One or more of the measurements of the iridocorneal angle and the anterior chamber depth can be related to other measurements behind the iris including the iris lens contact distance, the iris zonule distance and the trabecular ciliary process distance. Over a period of time, these measurements can change and can indicate a change, or be a precursor for a change, of intraocular pressure (IOP), and therefore can determine an earlier onset of glaucoma.

  • Patent number: 11350841
Abstract: An electromagnetic tomographic system for imaging a human head includes a base, an imaging chamber, at plurality of antennas, a plurality of antenna controllers, and an image processing computer system. The imaging chamber is supported on the base and defines an imaging domain in that receives the head. The antennas are supported by the imaging chamber and encircle the imaging domain. Each controller is dedicated to a respective antenna and includes RF transceiver circuitry having a transmit side and receive side that are alternately connected to the antenna using an RF switch. In operation, while one antenna is transmitting an electromagnetic signal into the imaging domain, a plurality of the antennas are simultaneously receiving the signal after passing through the imaging domain. The received signals of the plurality of antennas are simultaneously measured. Data representative of the measure electromagnetic signals is output by the controllers and used for image processing.

  • Patent number: 11337602
Abstract: An object sizing system sizes an object positioned within a patient. The object sizing system identifies a presence of the object. The object sizing system navigates an elongate body of an instrument to a position proximal to the object within the patient. An imaging sensor coupled to the elongate body captures one or more sequential images of the object. The instrument may be further moved around within the patient to capture additional images at different positions/orientations relative to the object. The object sizing system also acquires robot data and/or EM data associated with the positions and orientations of the elongate body. The object sizing system analyzes the captured images based on the acquired robot data to estimate a size of the object.
