  • Patent number: 9629097
Abstract: Provided are a method and a terminal device for setting uplink transmission power in a wireless communication system. A terminal acquires information on the time alignment group (TAG) for multiple supportable serving cells so as to constitute TAGs, checks whether an overlap section of subframe n and subframe n+1 for uplink transmission exists between TAGs, and sets uplink transmission power so as to scale the uplink transmission power (PCMAX) within the range that does not exceed the configured maximum transmission power (PCMAX) of the terminal in the checked overlap section. Here, the uplink transmission power considers the maximum transmission power for multiple serving cells contained in the TAGs.

  • Patent number: 9629095
Abstract: A wireless device receives a message comprising a transmit power control (TPC) radio network temporary identifier (RNTI), a primary TPC index for a primary PUCCH and a secondary TPC index for a secondary PUCCH. The wireless device searches a common search space of a primary cell for a downlink control information (DCI) associated with the TPC RNTI. The DCI comprises an array of TPC commands and the secondary TPC index determines a TPC command in the array. The wireless device adjusts uplink signal transmission power of the secondary PUCCH according to the TPC command.

  • Patent number: 9609523
Abstract: Disclosed is a wireless communication system using white spaces and a base station that does not have its own backhaul, starts wireless communications without radiating radio waves of frequencies causing interference with primary users. A BS being in isolation starts a wireless communication with a CPE, connected to the internet, so as to access a database to acquire a list of frequencies available for transmission. The BS uses a predetermined frequency to perform the wireless communication with the CPE, and acquires, via this wireless communication, the list of frequencies available for transmission. Thereafter, the BS performs wireless communications with the CPE and with another CPE on the basis of the acquired list of frequencies available for transmission. The BS can hold, in advance, information of the predetermined frequency for which it has been estimated that the BS will cause no interference with the wireless communications of the primary users.

  • Patent number: 9603089
Abstract: Systems, apparatus, methods, and manufactures for conserving power in a communications system such as a communications service cell site or cell site. The methods include adjusting the RF coverage of the cell site antenna, selective control of the RF output transmit power, selective control of the communications bit rate, transfer of communications to other cell sites, adjustment of indicators such that mobile devices transfer communications to other cell sites, and reallocation of logical slots between radios in the cell site. In some examples, the cell site employs a power controller. The power controller may utilize a switching circuit to produce two different voltages from a single battery string during a commercial power failure with improved conversion efficiencies. In another example, a power controller may manage multiple rectifiers so that the rectifiers operate more efficiently, such as with approximately equal runtime and with regular testing.

  • Patent number: 9585103
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for controlling transmission power in shared radio frequency spectrum (SRFS). According to techniques, devices (e.g., BSs, UEs, etc.) transmitting in SRFS band may win contention to the SRFS band for at least a portion of a radio frame period. For example, the radio frame period may include a plurality of subframe periods. The devices may also transmit a first signal at a first transmit power during a first subframe period of the radio frame period and transmit a second signal at a second transmit power during a second subframe period of the radio frame period. For example, the first transmit power and second transmit power may be controlled based, at least in part, on a power level determined for the radio frame period.

  • Patent number: 9559639
Abstract: Techniques for protecting a power amplifier (PA) are described. In an exemplary design, an apparatus includes (i) a PA module to amplify an input RF signal and provide an output RF signal and (ii) a protection circuit to control a transmitter gain to protect the PA module against high peak voltage. In an exemplary design, the protection circuit includes a set of comparators to quantize an analog input signal and provide digital comparator output signals used to adjust the transmitter gain. In another exemplary design, the protection circuit reduces and increases the transmitter gain with hysteresis. In yet another exemplary design, the protection circuit has faster response to rising amplitude than falling amplitude of the output RF signal. The hysteresis and/or the different rise and fall responses may allow the protection circuit to avoid toggling the transmitter gain under severe load mismatch and to handle time-varying envelope due to amplitude modulation.

  • Patent number: 9544860
Abstract: Pilot signal transmission sequences and methods for use in a multi-sector cell. Pilots in different sectors are transmitted at different known power levels. In adjacent sectors a pilot is transmitted while no pilot is transmitted in the adjoining sector. This represents transmission of a NULL pilot signal. A cell NULL is also supported in which NULL pilots are transmitted in each sector of a cell at the same time. Multiple pilot signal measurements are made. At least two channel quality indicator values are generated from measurements corresponding to at least two pilot signals of different power levels. The two values are transmitted back to the base station which uses both values to determine the transmit power requited to achieve a desired SNR at the wireless terminal. The wireless terminal also reports information indicating its location to a sector boundary.
