Abstract: A method for enterprise information management includes receiving first input information, from a first user, that corresponds to a first identifying a first feature of an organization. The method further includes generating, using the first input information, a first data object that represents the first feature of the organization. The method further includes generating a second data object based on second input information. The method further includes hierarchically associating the second data object with the first data object using the first input information and the second input information. The method further includes generating output information, in response to a second user accessing the first data object, based on the first data object, the second data object, and contact information associated with the second user. The method further includes displaying the output information on a display.

Abstract: The invention relates to an adapter device (10, 110, 210) for positioning at least one conductor (68), such as a conductor pair, for example, of a cable (70) to be measured, which adapter device comprises a receiving device (12) and a holding clamp (14) which can be attached to the receiving device (12). Attaching the holding clamp (14) to the receiving device (12) fixes the holding clamp (14) in position and alignment relative to the receiving device (12). The holding clamp (14) is designed to receive and clamp the at least one conductor (68) of the cable (70) to be measured in sections in order to fix said cable in the position and alignment thereof relative to the holding clamp (14), such that an end section of the at least one conductor (68) extends beyond the holding clamp (14).

The core is formed of a first material that has a first specific gravity and each projection is formed of a second material that has a second specific gravity. The plurality of projections is configured on the core such that at least two projections intersect a first hypothetical plane disposed on the first side of the core and at least two projections intersect a second hypothetical plane disposed on the second side of the core and that is opposably facing the first side. Each of the first and second hypothetical planes is disposed a distance from the central lengthwise axis of the core that is greater than the radius of the core and less than the sum of the radius of the core and the length of a projection.

Abstract: A cutting fluid delivery controller for a sawmill, and methods and systems for controlling delivery of cutting fluid to a saw blade in a sawmill. The saw blade is driven by a motor. The speed of the motor is regulated by a throttle lever having an idle speed position and a cutting speed position. The cutting fluid delivery controller includes a fluid valve configured to automatically turn on a flow of cutting fluid to the saw blade when the throttle lever is set to the cutting speed position, and to automatically turn off the flow of the cutting fluid when the throttle lever is set to the idle speed position. The cutting fluid delivery controller interconnects the fluid valve and the throttle lever to allow the operator to simultaneously control operation of the saw blade, and the flow of the cutting fluid to the saw blade, with a single operator manipulable actuator.

The contextualizing engine comprises various components that are operable to analyze an information item related to a user for identifying one or more individuals associated with the information item, and interrogate a graph structure for determining whether each of the one or more individuals associated with the information item is someone whom the user has met or has worked with based on edges and weights stored in the graph structure. When an individual who is associated with the information item is identified, the contextualizing engine is further operable to discover contextual information associated with the individual, and generate an information element surfacing the contextual information associated with the individual for display to the user.

Abstract: The present invention is a water softener brine tank salt bag splitter with a blade and telescoping mounting rod positioned below the tank lid to accommodate a variety of tank sizes and stiffen the lateral flexibility of the tank sidewall. Looped vertical mounting brackets secure over and around the upper edge of the tank sidewall to preserve the seal between the tank sidewall and lid. The mounting rod and brackets form a platform to support the weight of a salt bag when pouring salt pellets into the tank. The configuration of the brackets and the weight of the bag locks the bracket in place to prevent the blade from rotating when the bag drops down onto the blade. The device includes a rod assembly with an adjustable length, a cutting blade attached to a surface of the rod assembly, and brackets connectable to first and second ends of the rod assembly.

Abstract: Storage level query processing may be implemented for processing database queries. Nodes that can access a database may perform parallel processing for at least a portion of a database query. An indication may be received that specifies parallel processing for the database query. The nodes can then be caused to perform the portion of the query as part of providing a result in response to the database query instead of a node, such as a query engine node, that received the database query.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for logging system events within an electronic machine using an event log structured as a collection of tree-like cause and effect graphs. An event to be logged may be received. A new event node may be created within the event log for the received event. One or more existing event nodes within the event log may be identified as having possibly caused the received event. One or more causal links may be created within the event log between the new event node and the one or more identified existing event nodes. The new event node may be stored as an unattached root node in response to not identifying an existing event node that may have caused the received event.

Abstract: Techniques for analyzing media content are described. One technique generally comprises performing a regression analysis for characters in a plurality of media content based on user demographics, content outcome measure, and character models. The technique determines an attribute of significance. In some embodiments, the technique selects media content for display that depicts a character having at least a threshold value of the attribute of significance. In some embodiments, the technique displays media analytics for the attribute of significance determined based on a value of the attribute of significance exceeding a threshold significance value.

Abstract: A label cutter including a blade having a curved cutting edge configured and arranged to move towards a platen in order to cut a label material placed between them. The label cutter has a force applicator arranged and configured to apply a force to a portion of the blade in the direction of the platen. The label cutter includes an actuator operatively coupled to the force applicator and operable to cause the force applicator to move. The force applicator is moveable in order to, in use, apply a force to consecutive portions of the blade in the direction of the platen so as to provide a rolling engagement between the blade and the platen. A label issuing device including a label cutter is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a search engine for a video recorder. One embodiment of the present invention operates in an environment that includes one or more set-top boxes connected to or integrated within one or more output devices. The set-top boxes are used to transfer shows from a broadcast input source to one or more types of storage devices and to play back the shows from the storage devices to the output devices, either in a delayed-live fashion or at a later time of the user's choosing. The set-top box displays a graphical user interface (GUI), which gives the user the ability to watch and/or record timeslot based programming, to order on-demand programming, and to playback previously recorded shows that reside on a local or remote storage device. A search engine is added to the GUI that lets the search for shows and receive results in an enhanced manner.

Abstract: Methods and systems for presenting a proactive audiovisual query using a virtual assistant software application. The methods correspond to retrieving user experience data associated with a user profile for the virtual assistant software application, wherein the user experience data define one or more user experience events for the user profile. The methods further include retrieving subject matter domain data associated with the one or more user experience events, wherein the subject matter domain data define one or more probabilistic event effects for the one or more user experience events and determining, based on the user experience data and the subject matter domain data, one or more optimal query items, wherein the one or more optimal query items are associated with at least one of the one or more probabilistic event effects. The methods further include generating the proactive audiovisual query in accordance with the one or more optimal query items.

Abstract: A DBMS receives a database-access request that includes an instruction to non-destructively read a database table row. The DBMS assigns the request a TSN identifier and creates a TSN image that identifies all TSNs assigned to transactions that are not yet committed. The DBMS traverses a linked list of log entries that identifies a chronological history of transactions performed on the same row. The DBMS infers that the table row currently contains data stored by the most recently logged transaction that is not contained in the TSN image and that has thus been committed. The DBMS then continues to process statements of the transaction based on the assumption that the row contains the inferred value. The DBMS performs this procedure without acquiring a shared lock on the data page or on the index leaf page that points to the table row.
